Located just southwest of downtown between midtown and broadway, The Gulch is an expansive, but equally quaint part of the city that is classic mixed use of residential and retail. Main reason you may find me in The Gulch is for food. There is a solid variety of eateries from local casual spots to more established dining, sandwich shops and even a few spots for dessert. While that's my reason, most tourists find their way to The Gulch for the famous wing mural next to Biscuit Love. Got to get them wings while in Nashville! Outside of the food and wings, there are lots of local and chain businesses and services in the area including self-care, medical offices and of course clothing boutiques. Additionally, Noble Park is in the middle of The Gulch. It's a really cool urban space that features a good green space, seating, music and a water wall. It is also host to markets and small events throughout the year. Parking is plentiful in The Gulch, buts its all paid. There are garages, lots and street parking. Overall, The Gulch is a cool area of the city that I don't find myself in too often, but when I do, I always enjoy it!

Located on a commercial building that pretty much has a public art mural on every exterior wall this anchor one is one of the more basic murals in the area. Overall it's always cool to discover public art and nashville is loaded up with Murals at pretty much every street corner. So you can have a fun day of exploring much like my buddy and I did.

That includes Music Row! Music Row was established in 1955 and since then it's been the epicenter for music. Major record labels and recording studios are located here. Strolling the district and touring the studios is a great way to learn more about the music industry. There are also great spots to grab dinner or lunch.

I like Broadway, or as it's also known: Honky Tonk Highway! To call it "vibrant" is an…read moreunderstatement! It starts at the convergence of 1st Avenue near the Cumberland River and runs southwest to the Vanderbilt University campus, where it turns sharply to the south and merges with 21st Avenue South. The Bridgestone Arena is near the eastern end of Broadway. I've been to the Frist Art Museum (located next to Union Station) and it's a nice museum! Previously the Frist loused a historic U.S. post office. The Frist is one of the landmarks on Lower Broad. Tootsie's Orchid Lounge and Ernest Tubb Record Shop are other landmarks/points of interest along Broadway. Fun fact is some of the scenes in "Coal Miner's Daughter" were filmed inside Tootsie's! I've stayed in hotels on Broadway and all were nice and of course, very convenient to dining options, venues like Bridgestone, and of course, honky tonks. Printer's Alley, which I actually enjoy more than Broadway is only about a five minute walk from Broadway and has a lot to offer in one historic alley! If you are into gigantic neon signs, trollies/mini buses/party busses filled with drunken bachelorette parties, and country music, then Broadway is definitely your jam!

We walked along Broadway twice -- once around 3pm, because we were in the area, and then later that night, around 10pm. I was surprised that it was way busier at 3pm than at 10pm, but it was a Sunday. I wouldn't go out of my way to walk along Broadway, but if in the area, it's fun to look at all the neon signs. My buddy and we're visiting nashville for the weekend and stopped in for a bite to eat at the area popular "I dream of Weenie" and decided to walk around the neighborhood where we discovers what had to be at least 30-50 pieces of public art. Me and him both enjoy checking out murals and sculptures so it was very fun walk and place to explore. Overall a very nice neighborhood with plenty to see and do along with some cool places to grab a bite to eat.

Free flicks in a park setting each Wednesday in balmy June equate to nothing but good times. Add in some tasty food trucks, sponsor booths, and a nice mixed crowd of Nashvillians (pups too!) and you have the making of a perfect Summer evening. Arrive early to secure decent parking and a nice spot on the green stuff to plop yourself down. Crowds generally start showing up around 6ish with the start of the movie at 8ish. Movies in the lineup this year range from 500 Days of Summer and Harry Potter to Despicable Me and Sherlock Holmes. Did I mention that this is free?
