I recently visited Candytopia with my family, and I have to say, it was a major disappointment. The first thing that struck me was how overpriced this attraction is. Not only do they charge a hefty fee for adults, but the whole experience is far from being worth the cost.
Candytopia markets itself as a place for kids, but I couldn't help but notice that the candy they offer in each room is nothing more than what you can find at a discount store like Five and Below.
The main attraction at Candytopia is the sculptures made of candy, which, while visually interesting, didn't justify the steep entrance fee. There are only a few interactive rooms, which feel like an afterthought. One has glow-in-the-dark swings, and the other is a ball pit made of fake marshmallows. These two rooms were fun for the kids but don't make up for the lackluster experience overall.
The customer experience with the staff was equally disappointing. Most of them seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic about their jobs. It felt like they were just going through the motions. The only time they interacted with the kids was in the first room while we were waiting to get in, and even then, their enthusiasm seemed forced. Many of the employees were more interested in scrolling through their phones or checking social media than engaging with visitors.
As if the high entrance fee and lackluster experience weren't enough, they give you cheap candy like taffy, tootsie rolls, and restaurant breath mints while you wait in the staging area. This candy certainly doesn't add any value to the already steep ticket prices.
Candytopia does have a store where you can buy a better selection of candy, but surprise, surprise, it's also overpriced. You'd be better off buying candy at your local market or convenience store for a fraction of the cost or even better at the 7-11 next door b/c that's the type of candy they sell.
Even the photo-taking experience was subpar. They offer to take pictures for you with a QR code, but the camera is so far away that the resulting photos make you look like ants. It's much better to take your own pictures with your smartphone.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against visiting Candytopia. The exorbitant prices, lack of value, unenthusiastic staff, and overall disappointing experience make it a poor choice for family entertainment. Save your money and treat your kids to something more enjoyable, like a trip to Scramble and a visit to a store where you can buy candy at reasonable prices. It's clear that Candytopia's margins are incredibly high, and they're not offering much in return for your hard-earned money. read more
