Our response to Jodi's pathetic attempt to put the blame on us. First, we could have easily won in small claims court to get our money back, given the fact that Jodi broke the contract by repeatedly not showing up for scheduled and promised appointments (MOST OF THEM). But that is water under the bridge, as we feel she likely doesn't have the money to reimburse us anyway. If you decide to utilize this business, BE SURE TO READ THE CONTRACT CLOSELY, as I did. I had changes made since it was so ludicrous and one sided.
Second, our vets (both of them) believe we were mislead by information Jodi provided to us and the vet Jodi recommended stated she absolutely did not say the things Jodi claimed she did. Because Jodi instructed us to NOT TAKE OUR PUP ANYWHERE, even on walks in the neighborhood, our pup didn't leave our home or yard for THREE MONTHS, except to see a behaviorist vet that Jodi demanded we see (a costly vet visit). When we terminated our contract with her and told her not to come back (after we grew tired of the yelling and berating sessions and accusations in which she would find out she was wrong), we made an appointment with our regular vet. We had been taking our pup in for regular "happy visits" and she was becoming really good about going in; however, after no visits for three months, she was petrified of the vet and the visit didn't go well. The vet was shocked to know a behaviorist trainer would isolate our pup for that long of a period, even from the vet clinic. The vet and her staff asked and I provided Jodi's name. Several things Jodi did was shocking to our vet.
We are now taking our pup, Kalani, out with us often...for happy visits, to Petco, to various places that allow dogs like Menards and Rural King and for walks in the neighborhood. She is happy and friendly to everyone. The irony of this is that Kalani was doing GREAT on these sort of visits well before we paid Jodi to work with us, and we told Jodi that these things were not a problem....we called Jodi in to help us control our pup's demands for constant attention, not being able to cut her nails, and chewing things in the home. While our regular vet said the best thing for her would be to take her on lots of walks and visits to places, Jodi told us the opposite and Jodi was obviously wrong (once again). We currently do absolutely nothing that Jodi "taught us" in the very few lessons we had during the 3 months she was supposed to be our trainer.
As for Jodi mentioning she thought we should rehome our pup, even now. WHAT SORT OF GOOD TRAINER WOULD MAKE THAT SUGGESTION EARLY ON DURING TRAINING?! We were telling Jodi of our frustrations and her quick response was, "Maybe you should just rehome her." My husband and I were both shocked that this was her answer. We had already paid a regular dog trainer, who did a good job with basic training, but we were told we needed a behavioral trainer (Jodi had not completed her specialized training when she began working with us). So, anyone who reads Jodi's response post, can see that her answer is for clients to just rehome their pups instead of loving and caring for them like family. We would never rehome our dog, unless it was aggressive to the point of being dangerous. We have had many pups throughout our years, and all have grown to be healthy happy fur babies who were loved unconditionally. That is what we feel for our Kalani, who is a puppy mill rescue with some quirks. We will always love her. I told Jodi that she was to never tell us to rehome our pup again and she promised she would not. My husband and I both knew that wasn't the answer...we just needed help controlling some of her issues. Well, so much for promises from the woman who can't even show up for scheduled training dates and when she does show up, she can't show up on time (sometimes not even close to being on time). Her response stated that she believes we should rehome our pup. Our Kalani is very loved and cared for (despite being the most challenging and expensive dog we have ever owned, but that goes along with her being a puppy mill rescue). We have done everything possible to make her a good dog, and she is, despite the damage Jodi did to her and our family.
I will not respond further to any lies told by this person. I'm tired of dealing with her. Just read all of the other reviews. Seems a little odd that two of her reviews state she is rated a 5, but the other three rate her the lowest possible, with very specific reasons. read more
