I'm really disappointed in how this business handles communication and customer service. I enrolled in a 4-week group training class for my 9 month old puppy. I reached out nine days before the first session to ask about moving to the following 4 week session since I would be missing two out of four classes. I wasn't asking for a refund--just to switch sessions. My email went unanswered, and I had to call the facility to leave a message before the owner finally texted me back. I was told there are no changes or cancellations allowed, and to simply watch videos for the weeks I'd miss. One of the main reasons I chose this trainer was for the in-person group training and socialization, which can't be replaced by videos. I can find plenty of training videos online. This 4 week training was expensive, but I was very much so excited to grow with a training facility nearby. As a Carlsbad local, I love supporting small businesses, but this experience has been very disappointing. A little flexibility and better communication would have gone a long way. read more

She really does a great job communicating to dog owners, simple dog behaviors that we often overlook. I have taken multiple classes from puppy kindergarten to "good citizenship" dog training. She gives homework and really emphasizes to practice training at home, not just in the classes. I saw Laura C because someone recommended I see her about my pup's mild separation anxiety. We had a good talk about his behavior, and she was receptive to my explanations. She gave me some helpful tips on how to alleviate his behavior. Since there was extra time for our session, we got to do a quick training session with my pup to compete an obstacle course seen during dog shows. With her technique, my pup caught on quickly and I was so proud that he managed to compete the obstacle challenge! read more

Laura is an excellent trainer. Our little pup just graduated from her first puppy class and we learned a lot of valuable ways to teach our pup to listen to us. Puppy training can be OVERWHELMING and I know a lot of people try to do it on their own, but having a professional, who has been training dogs for 20+ years is extremely helpful. Also, there are just so many things you don't think about your dog needing to learn about. For example Laura had everyone wear random hats around the dogs, had them walk over wobbly ladders, had us "pass the puppy" so our dogs could get used to other people.. I would have had no idea to do this if we didn't take her class. We also joined the puppy play class and it has been a great, safe environment for our dog to receive socialization and learn to play nicely with others. Plus, who doesn't love to watch a bunch of puppies play! Laura has a fun, energetic personality and you can tell she truly loves dogs :) She is also very responsive to emails, texts and she was happy to answer my questions regarding our puppy during class. Laura establishes weekly training goals and homework. Practicing at home with Lucy is fun and rewarding. Lucy looks forward to each visit. After reading Laura's response to my review, I would like to address the many times Laura has called and texted me so I can delete the review. She has been calling me during work hours which is why I couldn't answer and when I did I let her know that she shouldn't be begging her customers to delete their review but rather to accept the feedback. I don't appreciate how she tried turning this around to make it seem like the customer was the problem, however it also represents the kind I trainer I was working with. I did express to her how I didn't appreciate the promises she made in her initial consultation that were never met and her hostility towards me, my husband and cousin when they attended the sessions with me on separate occasions. I don't believe I lied in my post, and I should be allowed to share it because that is the point of Yelp and I got no response but rather a business owner who just wants to blame a bad review on the customer. I did express in my previous post that I understand it is our job as the owner to train our pups, and I love my boy very much and ultimately want the very best for him like many of us do for our pups. I just wish I didn't pay someone hundreds of dollars to sit on a chair the whole time and watch. I won't be entertaining this much further, a business owner who constantly asks a customer to delete their post (which may be why she only has good reviews because she was very persistent with me about taking it down) and going after a person's character for not getting it their way should already be a red flag. I didn't give into her bribes to delete my post because I wanted to let other pup owners know the truth about what her private sessions look like, my only hope is that this helps someone and their pup decide on a more hands on professional trainer. read more

I started coming here because I felt my dog needed less daycare (where he's picked up some bad behaviors) and more structure. I felt I could use some brushing up as well. My husband and I moved here from LA 10 months ago where we had access to amazing dog daycare and trainers. We have yet to find a good daycare but Laura is a great trainer. She has managed to teach me and my dog some new things and correct others. She's very patient and knowledgeable. She is organized with homework that includes reading and instructional videos. I was at the end of my rope with our new puppy when I found Laura's website. We've had 3 puppies prior to this one and we never had any with challenging behavior issues, not the normal puppy issues. She is now 8 months old and 75% better (she is still a puppy after all). We did the puppy classes at first and then we did the private training, which to me helped the most. My 19 month old Labrador Retriever has been training with Laura for about 8 months now and it is remarkable to watch his growth in understanding and obedience!! First line of business in the Basic Obedience class was having Laura train me (and the other dog owners in the class).... she actually had to teach us the correct body language and response when we would give commands to our pups! What a difference it made - my pup started responding to my commands, making eye contact and behaving!! I am confident he will make a wonderful Therapy Dog after Laura gives him that final test!! After that, I plan on continuing with Laura, as she has many levels and types of classes to challenge my boy.... and besides, it's a whole lot of fun to see him meeting and socializing with other "classmates".
