The highlight of my day is picking up my 8 month old Golden Cava-Doodle in the late afternoon. He literally has a smile on his face and he's super excited to see me. He's had the best time of his life with his dog buddies for 4 hours and I can tell the instructors have had fun too. I have my puppy Butters in both the Puppy Socialization camp and their Puppy group training program and I've seen so much progress with how he's getting along with other dogs and he's been very hesitant and leash reactive once I could finally start socializing him safely with other dogs. I first started with their puppy socialization camp and he's been to around 12 so far and he went to a shy, timid puppy in the corner to making lots of friends and having a lot of fun during these 3 hour sessions! Then I put him in the Puppy group training program to help with his leash reactivity with other dogs and to also help with some basic commands and I've seen tremendous progress with how he's he is around larger dogs now. Unleashed is an excellent service offered by Woof Academy. We have also used the Dog Socialization times at the Woof Academy site, and that is great too. But Unleashed is really unique. It encompasses a private, natural vegetation training area where the dogs can run without leashes, but remain under watch by an excellent trainer keeping an eye, and I get to join in too! Training happens at a 40-acre space in rural San Marcos. It feels like you are a million miles away from town, but it's only about 20 minutes away! I bring my dogs to meet Pamela there, and we start in a 2-acre corral (fully fenced to the ground, so it would be good for smaller dogs too!). There, the dogs are completely off-leash, exploring the natural vegetation (but which has been carefully cleared to remove foxtails, etc.). They get time to sniff and explore, and then we work on some off-leash recall there. After that, we move to the other 38 acres. We worked with them on long leads and also completely off-leash, depending on what they have proven they can handle. They run down the path and through the vegetation, and (remarkably, for my two!) they come back to me when I call them. This week we used a prey machine (a plastic flag attached to a string that races around in a big square). Wow, did that help me learn some things about my dogs, about what is interesting to them and how they react to motion. It was also an amazing distraction to teach them to ignore for recall. Let me just say that Unleashed is such a treat for my dogs, who otherwise live a suburban lifestyle. But it's also a chance for me to get out in nature in a beautiful area. Combine that with top-notch, completely personalized dog training, and you can see why it's such an phenomenal time for my dogs and me individually, but also for us all to enhance our bond. read more

We were so nervous about where to take our new puppy for socialization, but after speaking with Pam and meeting the team, we were confident we made the right choice. Even though our puppy spent the first few weeks nervous being dropped off (separation), it made it all the more apparent how important socialization was. 5 weeks later, our puppy is confident, less bitey, and she leaps out of our arms to get into the play area every time we drop her off. This place is amazing! So glad we found it. Starting bringing our Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy here for socialization at 9 weeks old. The staff is phenomenal, attentive and does an amazing job encouraging confident, appropriate play between pups. We continued until she got too big and it was a great experience and she is a much more confident puppy for it (plus all those afternoons of having a tired puppy was with her weight in gold). If we lived closer we would totally continue in adult daycare. Such an organized, well run program with staff who really care. And the associated puppy class is phenomenal. I'm a bit of a crazy doggy mom so we have tried 8 different puppy classes between our two dogs. Their class is our favorite - 30 min of playtime followed by a really well thought out well taught curriculum. Just fabulous! Cannot recommend more. If you're considering taking your dog to Woofingham Palace, just do it. You will thank yourself and so will your dog. Our maltipoo pup was a friendly guy but had some experiences with friends' dogs that made him a bit scared of dog interactions. Already having low confidence issues, he had started to growl at humans and other dogs in fear at 14 weeks. A friend told us about Woofingham Palace so we reached out and signed up for their recommended puppy classes. He was a bit older than the junior group but inexperienced so they put together a custom schedule to get him into juniors and to move up into intermediate classes. When we initially brought him into his first class he was scared and growled and snapped at other puppies. The team was on top of his interactions as well as all the other puppies and navigated his fears like pros, making sure safety of all the dogs was the utmost priority. They also had strategies to help him deal with the overwhelming emotions he was feeling and explained them to us. They also explained why he was acting the way he was and noted that in his case, they expected him to be fearful and not really interact for his first class. They said by the second class he would still be standoffish but make a couple friends and that by the third class he would be playing and interacting. That seemed super specific but we figured we would see what happens. And it all played out exactly how they had expected. By his third drop off he was super excited to see his friends and was making new friends with ease. Now he loves going to puppy socialization class and we have seen a turnaround in his confidence outside of class. He happily meets other dogs on our walks and always is ready to play with every human we see. They say puppy socialization is one of the best things you can do to ensure your dogs don't have larger behavioral issues growing up and I now understand why it is so critical. Well worth any up front costs as you will see the positive results in your dogs behavior pretty quickly. read more

As a first-time dog owner, I researched quite a few places to help socialize my new puppy (Pembroke Welsh Corgi), Kenobi. Woofingham Palace has the most highly rated reviews here and the place lived up to those ratings. They have a wonderful puppy daycare program combined with their 4-week Royal Puppy Class. My pup got off to a great start with basic obedience skills and making new friends with other pups of similar age. The staff are professional and friendly. My little guy loves going there and I can tell the staff treated him well because whenever he sees any staff member, his ears go down accompanied by an eager tail wag (or rather a stump wag since my pup has a docked tail). As with so many other reviews here, our dog can not wait to get to Woofingham, play with other dogs and be cared for by a brilliant team that Samantha heads. What is sad though is that there seem to be 50 plus unregistered reviews (two from good friends of mine) that Yelp deems unfit to post even though they are genuine. Have a browse through them as they also reflect my high opinion of the place. It's just a shame Yelp relies on either software or warped criteria which deem the reviews fake. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We recently brought home a new puppy and know how important socialization is. However, the time waiting for our puppy to become completely vaccinated was difficult. As the only dog in our house, we felt we were doing a disservice to our puppy who had no other dog to play with and was missing out on such an important time in his development stage to learn socialization skills. After doing a lot of research, we found Woofingham's puppy play groups and it has been the best money we have ever spent! Our puppy has SO much fun, has become such a confident dog, and gets a ton of energy out (bonus for mom!). Their facility is unbeatable. Lots of outdoor space, grass, pools for the dogs to play in, structures for them to climb on, and the sweetest staff out there. I appreciate that the staff is committed to my puppy's safety. The dogs are constantly supervised and the staff makes sure that dogs are playing nicely and no puppy is overwhelmed. It's also a training exercise for our dog since the staff steps in to redirect him if he gets to focused on another dog, is barking too much, or just being a brat! They know all the dogs by name and are truly excited to see our dog every time we pull up. I could go on and on! Woof Academy is AMAZING! Let me tell you why. A week ago, Miss Selina, one of their caregivers, was giving our dog Gracie a bath. She found a growth and let us know right away. Today we got Gracie in to the vet and found out that the growth is cancer. And it had doubled in size! I don't think I've ever been so obsessed with a business!!!! Cash, our 10-week old puppy, has endless energy and needs to learn some manners. She's also a bit timid in new situations. In the short time she's been going to Woofingham, we have already seen a drastic difference in her behavior. Initially, I thought sessions twice a week for three hours each was going to be a bit much for us (we live 40 minutes away and work East coast hours, so timing is challenging for us). Now we wish it was everyday and would 100% make that drive everyday!!!! We look forward to our Woofingham days just as much as Cash does. The staff members are all incredibly patient and know how to handle the all the different personalities of the dogs (with love, of course). After not owning a dog since I was 10, we decided to cave into our kids request for a dog and get our first family puppy. My husband and I had no idea what we were doing but attending the puppy training class at Woofingham has helped us tremendously. The instruction is taught in a way that it's easy to continue the training at home. And when I forget what I need to do, I can always refer to the handout that is given out at the end of each class. I love that the training sessions are part socialization and part training. It's been great for our little guy to meet new "friends" and for us to also meet new puppy owners! This is our second pup and we did puppy socialization elsewhere for the first. The puppy classes at Woofingham Palace were great because they were affordable and included both playtime, and training. Some puppy classes are only playtime or only training. So having both for one price was ideal. Samantha and Jon are fun and effective trainers too. We have been client of Woofingham Palace for over 2 years, compared to the last day care I used in Encinitas, Woofingham is superior in every way. The owners' (Samantha and John) CARE and attention to detail (safety, cleanliness, pup comfort, communication, customer service) is evident . Things we really appreciate: straightforward scheduling; nice, clean facilities to play in with things like water pools, and a climbing structure in the outdoor areas; open communication, the attentiveness of the staff in the field (genuine care for the pups- I love arriving early and watching them throw balls for the dogs, give love to my dog); and the organization and professionalism of the owners and staff. Our dog gets cries in excitement starting when we are 3 blocks away, he has a lot of fun here, (he does indeed play all day and go home happy/sleepy) and we know he is safe and well cared for. We rescued a lovable, but needy, adult dog in January. We called Pam within a week of meeting with another trainer whom we found to be slightly unapproachable and too tough with our dog. Pam was a breath of air. We'd heard about Pam from neighbors who raved about her and they were so right. We knew we needed help with leash training, separation anxiety and food aggression. First we had Pam come to our house for a few private lessons. She offered many tips and a host of techniques to help get our little guy comfortable and vice-versa. We then availed ourselves of her pack walks (great for socialization and leash training), camp and then Canine Good Citizen classes. All helped in different ways.
