It's not just off Hwy #10 but you gotta zig zag past some office complexes, and the parking can be atrocious. The lessons are taught by volunteers, and they're all elderly people. Call me crazy, but elders + slippery ice doesn't seem like a good combination. One kid actually went to the hospital when we were here because, you know, middle school age boys don't get that ice is slippery I guess? Anyway, the old people running the classes were all very short tempered and mean. I'll admit I didn't love curling, but having an angry old man snapping at me while I was trying my best to get hang of it didn't help matters. They make fun of you and tease you when you mess up. Not fun. As for the hockey rink, it's colder than the arctic circle in there. The heaters above the seats barely help. The skating instructors seem to be kinda out to lunch, and not very good at dealing with kids. The bathrooms are all gross with a capital G. This rec Centre would be so much better if they had a pool. Shouldn't it be written somewhere that community centres need to have pools?

Today, I feel, was rock bottom and I will not return. The place is unsafe - overcrowded and zero staff on the floor. I picked up trash on the rink floor as well as someone's stopper that had come off. Unfortunately the day ended with me at the ER due to these unsafe conditions. I sacrificed myself to avoid a small child when another person hit me - ultimately smashing my face into the floor and causing about an inch long laceration on my chin. A fellow skaters stopped to help and abother lady went with me to the restroom to help control the bleeding. zero reaction from any staff - pardon the woman bleeding in the floor! I gathered my daughter and her 3 cousins that I had brought along with us, while clutching a blood soaked paper towel to my face. Still zero notice from any staff. The only time anyone working took notice of me was as I was walking out the door - I was approached by a young woman that wanted my personal inform to submit to their insurance. Thanks for nothing Lynden Skateway. I hope your policy doubles. Hopefully nobody slipped in my blood. What a disaster.

Sportsplex no longer has a division 1 or 2, and the number of teams in the adult roller there has dropped to around 24, a year ago it was double that. Central City Arena has more teams than Sportsplex does now. Langley Hockey House has as many teams and is where the elite level players have gone, because it's a better place to play now. Not to mention both of those rinks charge less as well. It leaves me thinking they just don't care about the roller hockey players, and would rather it died at Sportsplex and they'd convert that rink over to ice (like they did with their second roller rink already).

This review is specifically for the pool(s). The facilities are really good, although the changing…read moreroom/showers are fairly primitive. The salt water pools are both nice--a good sized lap pool and a warmer leisure for water walking and kid fun, as well as a river for floating and relaxing. There is also a giant water slide. The downside is the management of the pools, or lack thereof. Don't expect rules to be enforced, especially in summer, when the lifeguards are almost exclusively teenagers. Kids play in the lap lanes, which disappear with little regard to the schedule. I saw a child dive into the shallow end of the kids' pool and not one of the three lifeguards said anything or perhaps even noticed. Usually there's only one swim lane during aquafit, even if the class is sparsely attended. If you want equipment--water weights, for instance--you often have to hunt down someone to get them for you from a back room. Most gyms I've been to have that equipment readily available. During aquafit classes, the music is so loud that the people in the water often can't hear the instructor, and the instructors are already miked. The volume is headache-inducing at times. Additionally, the music itself is generally very bad. In the morning, it's the same hits of the 70s on a loop ("American Pie" every morning gets old quickly) and in the evenings it's even worse. Little effort seems to go into matching what people in the aquafit classes might enjoy--it's just typical aerobics music, with no imagination or common sense put into the song choice, given that the majority of the people in the classes are 65-plus. (Pre-1960 music actually had a beat--people jitterbugged to it!) I mention music because it's loud, there's no escaping it, and having contemporary country (for example) blaring in your ear isn't always what you want when you're trying to unwind after a long day.

As soon as you walk in, there's the check-in office on right, skate/equipment shop on left, some nice seating around the staircase, decorated with rocks to those who care about decor, and a concession stand in the back. Like I said, nice and compact. But I'm not a fan of their dressing rooms & showers, outdated as well as if you're 6 feet, make sure you don't hit your head on the sprinkler. Plus, the water doesn't stay on long, so it's a lot of holding the friggin button. Lastly, the parking lots are a bit shady to me. Not well-lit and secluded being by the highway & in the industrial area. Not saying it's rowdy but I sure wouldn't want my lady to walk alone past 8pm. But ice-wise, it's nice here, 4 rinks. Well-lit and good scoreboards.

I am 17 now, volunteering my spring and summer breaks to work at the camp I feel changed me the most! As a kid I loved tons of activities like all the games, swimming, sports day and of course all the crafty things I got to take home with me. Reaching my adult years and I still love the sport of Riding and the experience of being around horses. Working at Webbs gives me a chance to help and give back to other children. My family at Webbs is forever expanding, and if you're thinking of sending your child here, I can only give you support! working at Webbs gives you a whole different perspective on how things are run, compared to as when your a child actually staying at the camp. a basic broken down list of the week for you (long weeks) Sunday-Saturday (short weeks) Monday-Friday FIRST DAY: its basically all the rules, guide lines and all the "what you need to know" things. You walk up to the fields with the consolers to visit all of the horses, and when you return you go to your dorm to get beds and dorm rules sorted out. Snack is served and a camp fire is put on just before bed. EARLY IN THE WEEK: BELL RINGS!! TIME FOR BREAKFAST! After breakfast is the first dorm inspection, this is where the messiest dorm, after provided cleaning time, is choosing to clean the tables at lunch, dinner (that day) and breakfast tomorrow! (don't worry its fun!) Children get divided into mixed groups so there are enough horses for each child in a group. Groups ride at different times of the day and rotate order on the following days. In the morning groups who are not riding do activities and games with their group leaders like; Manhunt, Kick The Can, Octopus ect. There is a playground, volley ball court, basket ball court, gym, arts and crafts room and of course the pool! After lunch the remaining group(s) go riding and other groups get into the groove of games :) MIDDLE OF THE WEEK: Because they're so many options of things to do, it keeps everyone busy throughout the week. Another activity that is from Webbs Holiday Acres traditions is sports day, where pool and field events are held and groups compete friendly against each other, and cheer on friends during events. END OF THE WEEK: The first half of the week goes the slowest with everyone still getting to know everyone and their surroundings, but by the middle and the end of the week, you can hear everyone complaining how the week is coming to an end. A very cool and fun way to bring the week to an end, is how Webbs does the last full day at camp!! after riding, activities and dinner Kangaroo Court is held where any child with any kind of crime that week has to face the wrath of one of Webbs judges. crimes range anything from falling off of your horse (punishment might be: hug/kiss the ground and thank it for catching you) or Julie for always wearing dresses, (punishment might be: must wear pants for the rest of Kangaroo court) We always encourage good things and lots of children get to go home with a horseshoe for being a good friend, good rider, or helper at the barn. After this entertaining trial everyone runs for their dorms to get ready for the DANCE!!! The dance was always my favourite part of the week, because you had your friends established, and that night you just let loose, have a little bit to much candy and sing and dance the night away with your friends. Webb's Holiday Acres is a family-run operation that has been headed up by the same people for over…read more35 years. More importantly, it's an outstanding summer experience for kids who love (and want to ride) horses and want to make new friends. I know this firsthand, having spent many summers as a child at Webb's in the past. Looking back, spending an entire week (6 nights, 7 days) away from your parents, in a different setting, with all sorts of new people and daily activities, is a really great way to grow as a kid. FYI: Some of these activities included: campfire songs and storytelling, trail riding horses, going to a non-school dance, participating in skits, playing capture the flag, etc, etc. I recommend this place to my friends who are parents now, and still sometimes go and visit. Since it's only 50-minute drive from central Vancouver, it still feels like a convenient country escape. Some of the friendships I made during my summers here have lasted a lifetime.
