We pulled in Canmore around 1 am for fuel. After filling up, the truck turned over very slow and won't start. We checked the battery connections, boosted it and it would not start. We figured out that the AC Compressor seized. I call the shop and told them what happened and they told me they would look at it as soon as we got it there. Upon arrival, they confirmed our prognosis and started looking for a new compressor. We had to get back to the west coast for the next morning. No compressor was available that day. We decided to by pass the compressor. After trying a few belts they figured out that if they moved the idler pulley one of the belts would work. We got on the road and got home on time. I'm very suspicious of this business. We were in town visiting and I had my oil changed here. First they told me my battery didn't pass their test and should be replaced. They also told me I needed new tires. I contacted my home dealership to discuss the battery issue and decided to get a second opinion. When we reached Seattle, I had a second Jeep dealer test the battery. They said it was fine. The tires were only two years old and didn't have that many miles on them. When I got my next oil change, the had to replace the oil plug because it has been jammed by these guys and couldn't be removed without replacement. I don't know what their problem is here, but I'd take anything they say with a grain of salt. read more

Richard Sockett, at Chrysler Head Office in Windsor, told me that Graham, at Canmore Chrysler, reported to him that he returned my payment. This is not true, as I never received it. Canmore Chrysler was paid by cheque, written in accordance with the Bills of Exchange Act of Canada --an acceptable form of payment, according to the Minister of National Revenue-- yet I still don't have the van. This Chrysler dealership is gouging customers. I got an estimate to replace a window of $802 from them. I went to Aspen Glass in Canmore and my cost was $375 for exactly the same replacement glass. I received a quote to replace all four brake pads and rotors because they were "severely rusted on inner surface." Cost: $1,578. I had the Cochrane Dealership do their recommended brake work . They said the pads and 3 rotors did not need replacing however, one rotor was scored. They recommended a brake flush, a brake lube and one turned one rotor. Cost $502. Cochrane said the brakes are mildly rusted. Canmore Chryslers quotes borders on fraud. I suggest you go elsewhere to service your vehicle. I will be going elsewhere to service my vehicle. Beware if you come to this place for a vehicle inspection and insist on photographs before consenting to any repairs. I brought them a 2018 Subaru Forester with only 36000 km and in immaculate condition, which had been carefully checked in B.C. Nevertheless, they claimed that the brake rotors needed resurfacing and charged me for a total of 6 hours labour, including the inspection. However, based on phone calls, the car was only in their shop for 3 hours, which probably included lunch. A total ripoff. No pictures, so impossible to disprove now. It seems that this kind of rotor caper is getting very popular with unethical mechanics. Alberta should have inspection centres which are not motivated to profit from repairs and I will be making a complaint about this one. Everything about this place smells SCAM. Went in to get 4 rivet clips pushed into the fender flare on my Jeep Liberty. After waiting 45 minutes, it took the mechanic 3 minutes to do the job (exactly 180 seconds - I timed it). They charge shop time by increments of 0.1 hours, 0.1 being 6 minutes. Instead they decided to charge me for 0.2 hours (12 minutes) when the job took 1/4 of that time and tacked on all kinds of fees including an ENVR fee for $6 which makes NO SENSE at all since they disposed of absolutely nothing. I tried to resolve it then and there, explaining that I'm willing to pay for what is fair, which was the parts and 0.1 hours, but it dove into a 30-minute long discussion with at least SIX people from the dealership yelling at me, calling me names, telling me that they are going to put a lean on my vehicle over $13. I explained that if they won't take any of my money at all, I'm just going to leave. Three dealership employees proceeded to run outside and park two vehicles behind me so that I could not leave. They told me that I could "sit there all night." I then called the RCMP on my own initiative to mediate the situation. Even the RCMP officer voiced to me that what they were doing is unfair, but there was insufficient grounds to charge the company with fraud. I was forced to pay the bill under protest and the RCMP officer had the dealership employees move the vehicles blocking my own. Feeling taken advantage of, the next day I contacted the owner of the dealership, Tim Siad, to try and resolve this situation. He didn't even ask what I was asking for before explaining that they charge what they charge and he's not going to help me. He told me "I'm sure your time is worth more than this so why don't you just let it go." I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's clear the problems with this dealership stem from the top and they are in the business of ripping people off and telling them "just to get over it" so that no one bothers them about it. Before hanging up on me, Tim Siad's words were "Go find another dealership. Chow and f*** you!" This dealership clearly takes advantage of the fact that they are the only Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership for 90 kilometers and rip customers off at will. In my time waiting for them to serve me alone, I watched two customers come in and experience similar problems. One was overcharged by $200 (but the woman just decided to let it go -- seemed like the kind of person who lets others walk all over them) and the other had a black steering wheel installed on his vehicle when the original was beige (the service manager, Geoffrey, said that was the closest they had and if he didn't like it, he'd have to pay for them to remove the black steering wheel that didn't match, even though the customer never approved a black steering wheel in the first place). The biggest problem with the place is its employees and it starts all the way at the top. They are rude, antagonistic, abrasive and feel that the customers is always WRONG. YOU'D HAVE TO BE OFF YOUR ROCKER TO DEAL WITH THESE CRIMINALS. Drive to a dealership in Calgary. You're only asking for problems by going to Canmore Banff Chrysler Jeep. read more

To update, Canmore Chrysler has been bought by a new owner. The new owner contacted me directly and wanted to make right the situation with my paint peeling. Asked me to come in so he could see the car, he took a look and came to the same conclusion I had. Told me to drop the car off whenever was convenient to me and he would have it repaired at no cost. Dropped it off the following weekend. I just got the car back today, everything looks great the body company they used appears to have done a great job and they even filled up my tank with gas. I'm extremely satisfied with the care and consideration given to me as a customer compared to the previous staff. Ryan was fantastic to work with. read more

About as stereotypical as you can get (and no, that's not a good thing).... The salesman kept calling me 'Buddy' (ugh), and right from the start was pushing for a deposit over the phone, as the used unit I was interested in was so highly sought after (come on, really?). Their sales game was solid, as they stuck to the age-old '4 Square Method' of mixing the price of the car, down payment, trade-in value, and monthly payment into a single transaction. Google it. I actually had to back-calculate the value of my trade. Does anyone fall for this crap?! And, yes, they lowballed my trade. Shocking. After lengthy negotiations back and forth with the hidden sales manager (you guessed it - another sleazy tactic from the past) we made some progress and moved on to the finance folks, whose purpose is to get you a decent rate (they did this well) and, more importantly, up-sell you on needless protection plans and undercoating packages. So cliche. I had a limited amount of time that particular day (I told them this up front), which they had successfully squeezed every second from. On my way out the door, the sales manager magically appears (he has my old keys, to make it just a little more difficult to exit) and throws a bunch of 'porcupine closers' my way. Anything that will stick. I play along, and get my trade up to a decent value. I am leaving, regardless, and need a little time to mull it all over. Not really a surprise, but the next day I get an email declining our verbal agreement from the previous afternoon. I had negotiated too much for the trade! Oh, and they also bumped up the price of the vehicle I was interested in. Nice double-whammy. My email response? 'No problem, Buddy', and this review. Chrysler should be ashamed to be associated with this bunch. Sure, some of the methods they use are standard practice, but they should really be made obsolete or even outlawed. Times are hopefully changing. Follow your gut, put some serious weight behind the numerous one star reviews, and move along. Steer clear of this dealer, at all costs. As an aside, my whole way of thinking has been magically changed by this experience... I've decided my current Jeep no longer depreciates. I've learned that it's value increases the day after, just like their vehicle. Blah! read more

Last week my wife and I travelled from Colville Washington to Banff for an awards ceremony for her job performance. We arrived Wednesday night and on Thursday morning we got in our truck to go into town and our transmission was locked in 4th gear. I contacted your dealership and explained our problem and that we were supposed to go home Sunday. Your service department said they would get it in right away to see what the problem was so we brought it right in, they set us up with a loaner vehicle and were great to deal with. The problem was found to be a bad solenoid, but due to my cell phone not working I did not get the estimate until after the cutoff for ordering the part and was told the part would not be in till Monday. I told Bria that I understood and needed the truck fixed and would have to make arrangements to stay longer until the truck was fixed. On Friday morning I was surprised when Bria emailed me and told me they had located the part elsewhere and were sending a driver to pick it up so the truck would be fixed Friday. I cannot express to you how grateful my wife and I are that your staff went above and beyond, they could have waited till the part came Monday but they didn't. This to me shows the professionalism, dedication and caring that your service department and Bria have in making sure they did everything they could to help my wife and I. You have some very special people working in your service department and we thank them and your dealership so much for assisting us in a very stressful situation. If I could give minus stars we would. Be VERY CAUTIOUS of visiting this dealership. I stopped by over a year ago to check out the used car section and every car I test drove required worked. I had no choice but to leave my phone number before the test drives now they constantly call me even though I told them we bought a Cayenne turbo S and Honda CR-V instead of the grand cherokee. Blocking the number doesn't help either since they call from different numbers. I'd stay clear of these guys at this dealership very unprofessional. STAY CLEAR. read more

I'm a long term resident of banff and I've been looking for a new vehicle. My searches have mostly consisted of calgary dealerships but I noticed canmore chrysler was under new ownership and management so I decided to check it out. I arranged to test drive a jeep grand cherokee. I showed up and was pleasantly suprised to see the new changes. They have a lot of inventory and the selection is more than your used to seeing in the valley. Kirk was my salesperson and after a tour of the cherokee I was off on my test drive. After the test drive I came back to what I thought might be some high pressure sales but I was wrong. Kirk and everyone else were great and had answers to all my questions without the usual pressure. Pavla the finance person is awesome and amazing at what she does. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a vehicle in the area. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Canmore Chrysler for over five years and to date have not had any reason for complaint. Since the recent change of ownership I was expecting even better support for my vehicle as has been promised through their advertising but sadly, not the case. Today, I walked up to the service counter to be told by the young man sitting at a computer that he 'wouldn't be a moment'. Fair enough...he continued focusing on his data entry. However, as I stood there he continued to key data for over three minutes. Finally I got sufficiently frustrated to ask if he could deal with my query. He said he wasn't finished yet and would be a few moments. I finally said to him that, as he wasn't going to deal with my query (which he did not yet know as he hadn't even asked), I would leave. He gave no response other than to say he was dealing with his customers in order and that each was as important as the other....again a fair comment if he had more than one customer standing in front of him. I asked him if he was ok with me walking out to which he made no comment. The individual did not budge from his comment that he was dealing with another customer first....again I have no problem with that but he was keying data into a computer rather than deal with a face to face customer. The final straw was when I asked to speak with his manager, who was sitting in his office listening to me, and who could have quite easily deal with my query, and who said that his staff was dealing with another customer first. No apology, no conciliatory comments.....this 'Manager' perhaps also needs to understand customer dynamics better. Firstly, when someone is sitting at a customer service desk should they not deal with a face to face customer first? If their work entails keying data go into a back room rather let your customer see this happening in front of them while they wait to be served. It made me feel as though I did not matter. Secondly, why couldn't the manager handle customers waiting at the desk if the data entry work was so critical? Thirdly, this goes against all the principles I learned (and instilled in those working for me) about dealing with expectations of your customers. Fourthly, the old adage that a satisfied customer tells round three people of their good experience while a dissatisfied customer tells over twenty people holds good here. Friendly staff, but they strictly 'follow Chrysler procedures' instead of using common sense, which costs the customer, BIG TIME! I brought my dodge vehicle to this shop because they told me they would have best diagnostic tools available and access to chat with other techs dealing with the same issues for a more accurate diagnoses the first time. They called me the first day after looking at it with a diagnoses wanting to replace a cheap part for a couple of hours labour. Then they said it was fixed, it was NOT. Then they spent several hours on their next diagnoses which lead them to a very labour intensive job, with an expensive part, which again did NOT fix the issue. The next and final step was one in which they should have actually ruled out before any work was even started, since it was a COMMON issue with our specific vehicle(they denied knowing this) and an easy diagnostic test to see if it was in fact the issue!! It took no time at all(less than an hour) to 1. Make sure it was the problem 2. Replace the part. When I typed the symptoms my vehicle was having into google, the part that fixed the problem was the first suggestion. There's even a lawsuit for our year/make/model on the specific faulty part(which they also denied knowing about) that came up in the search. When confronted as to why their 'best of the best' diagnostic services could not come up with what google could as the first suggestion, they stuck to the 'we use the Chrysler procedures and followed them' line. They repeatedly denied even knowing this was a common issue with our vehicle. Total cost of labour that did NOT fix the problem:$1600(which they cut in half to $800) Total cost of parts that did NOT need replacing: $800(they refused to take the mark-up off) Total cost of the part we needed: $1300 Total cost of the labour we needed: less than 1 hour including diagnostic testing(which they did not charge for). This bill could have been $1400 all said and done, but instead it was $3100!! Their diagnostic tools and 'following Chrysler procedures' instead of looking things up and ruling out common issues first, end up costing the customer extra $ in unnecessary 'steps and procedures'. read more

Had an issue with my power steering, which they fixed, but when I took it back to get the same thing repaired again, they said it was the return line, not the pressure line as before. They said it was a 10 minute fix and tried to charge me $190. I asked to see the repair, they wouldn't show it to me, then I refused to pay because I had not authorized the work. After a lot of work I got the car back without paying and upon inspection, they had fixed the pressure line - which should have been under warranty - and had not touched the return line - which they had claimed to fix and tried to charge me for that. Let me start by saying that i have total faith in the product of jeep vehicles produced by Chrysler, but after the appalling treatment and service i received from the Canmore Chrysler dealership i strongly recommend avoiding that place at all costs!!! Save yourself the headache and drive to Calgary or Cochrane. The staff were unprofessional and non-communicative with certain facts upon delivery of the vehicle after they received payment which made the process very stressful and has sullied my opinion of Chrysler as a company. The cliche sleazy salesman is an accurate descrpiter in this instance and i strongly advise taking your business elsewhere... read more
