Review for Yonge and Wellesley location in downtown Toronto. I spend a lot of money on weed products. Today, I just purchased a bunch of weed drinks from the Yonge and College location, where I had no issue. I had a photo of my ID ready to present but the budtender confirmed that if someone looks significantly older than legal age, they don't need to ID anymore (they used to check everyone before which is just silly when you are in your late 40's like I am). I then walked a couple of blocks to the Yonge and Wellesley location and was denied entry because I didn't have a physical ID present, and a photo of my passport was not accepted. I even showed the staff that I just made a purchase from their other location, and they still denied me. Previously, this same location sent me to another location to do a return (they sold me the wrong product), and that location said they couldn't return it. Their staff need to use some common sense. IDing people that have lost all their hair like I have (I'm bald) is just stupid. I'm not sure if this what that location's management is telling staff, but this is super inconvenient for staff, and also plain silly. From a business perspective, it's also plain stupid. The government does not require everyone to be ID'd, this is something Canna Cabana implemented. If you want me to keep spending my hard earned cash with you, it's time to get smart about your business policies. I should not be inconvenienced when supporting your business and ID'd a grown ass man is just dumb. They refused to refund or replace the product after I've been a good customer for months. I am not the only person to have this happen as I see in the reviews. Do not shop at Canna Cabana unless you want to be ripped off. They swindled me for over 21 dollars and I cannot afford for that to happen. After many refusals I was told to come in and they made a lame excuse not to because they saw dust. There was no dust when I put the receipt in the container that I saw. I phoned earlier in the day to confirm they had the right product and to put some on hold for me. I drove over an hour each way to just be told they don't have it in stock and gave me the wrong product info. The manager didn't seem very empathetic and didnt help me at all.... very horrible service at 10573 - 114 st and I always have good service at the other locations. Went in and spent over 100 bucks there, as usual. I am a member. I also tried to purchase a hand held grinder and the budtender helped me pick one out. At the counter he asked if I was an elite member. I said "I don't know", thinking it was based on how much I had spent already or something. He looks at a sign and I follow his gaze. It costs money to become an elite member. I say "No...I guess I'm not an elite member" and he says "Well, I can't sell you this, sorry.". He puts it back and shows me the only one that I am "allowed" to buy. This is strictly base on my experience and speaking out of my opinion. 1. Always on call probably because nobody wants to work a hard labour Slave like job. Head office does not care at all they're only profit driven (none of them have any sort of inspiration or passion for cannabis) higher turnover rate because of how substandard the work conditions are. Your sometimes required to open and close a high traffic store by yourself in a not so great area with past incidents. All the employees working for this company is expendable and are looked at as a number they don't want to know your names. This is a high pressure job even for the toughest people out there , it's why a lot of mangers/Area managers quit due to too much stress from this company and took a toll on their health. This whole business model needs to be reshaped because If they continue i guarantee the profits will start to decline in a few years. For a company that's driven to open many locations as possible and by getting better wholesale prices From OCS because they got a lot of locations (bad business model) without setting the foundation and model while creating a healthy work culture and environment of its former stores. I seen HR and AM continuously violate labour laws and when you want to speak up they threaten you with legal action. They give you too many task for one person then get blamed for the task not being done because of the no manpower( stocking EVERY item on the floor/bringing in back in while handling other management duties) They will understand that low price isn't only the reason shop for cannabis but for experience quality and assurance! But until they see revenue decline they will continue to stay vigilant in business models. They also purposely try to only hire shift leads because it's cheaper to overwork 1 employee with a handful a tasks that will not be able to finish then to hire two for balance workflow. Terrible benefits and they force their workers to go through customer abuse by their (ID everyone policy) asking senior citizens. When I was hired I was promised promotional opportunities, In which I was incorrect they would rather hire someone on the outside . There be times where stores don't have mangers and that leaves the shift leads to manage a store (no extra pay or help nothing). This corporation is joke and all those guys sitting at the head office in those expensive suits that provide ZERO value to Canna cabana operations should be a laughing stock. The whole country of your employees would agree with me , HighTide ventured into the cannabis industry aiming to be the best prices in town... but that's it. Realizing when competitors start to catch up on the pricing you guys will have zero market share in this business and you will slowly start to see that over the next few years. Improve your culture, incentives, business practices, and overall ethics. Also rearranging your head office crew would be highly advisable, most literally provide 0 value to your operations at all. Noted that Canna Cabana has a policy where there isn't any (nepotism), but I'm starting to notice a pattern especially in upper management with people in HR are be offering positions to people to one ethnicity group particularly similar to the CEO. It's not my company but a policy shouldn't only be applicable to just lower management. A company that makes Millions in revenue cant even provide a computer for their stores or normal supplies to help run there business operations. Again I think this franchised opened up too many locations too fast and need to focus on maintaining solidarity and healthy environment for lower management. For every employee employeed here , they purpose watch you and to see if you made any mistakes just so they can have something on your record in case they want to dismiss you anytime in the future. Only reason why this company is still running is because of its amazing employees, people and customers in general love the lower end staff and because of their loyalty is why they get returning customers. Everyone tries to do their bit but if HO can't communicate with the proper help then this whole business falls apart. I do love making interactions with customers and helping them and it's the reason why most still work here. Other than that if people really want cheaper weed they can find it a lot of places , just don't support a business that doesn't respect their customers and employees. Businesses need to profit money to grow but their also needs to be a balance with the incentives, pencil pushing isn't going to cut it and it shows how incompetent a lot of head office work is. This review applies to the Canna Cabana Club. I have had a horrible experience on sitetrying to join this club, and I suggest it is likely a waste of your time. I have been onsite trying to join the club three times, the last time on May 9, 2023. All have been unsuccessful, as we never could successfully prove that I was an acceptable adult (I am 67). The last time on May 9, I asked the clerk to create a support ticket, which she did while us was there. Since then (one month), I have had no contact from the support team, and the issue is still not fixed. (maybe they are using too much of their own product) As a result of this customer support failure, I am no longer trying to join their club, and I will be looking at alternatives. read more

My partner and I went to the St-Laurent store in Ottawa. The ONLY good thing about it are the prices. The negatives are huge. They have a tiny, airless entranceway where you are expected to wait behind a rope until a "budmaster" (read: skinny teenager) checks your ID. We waited over 15 minutes. The entranceway quickly filled up and became crowded. To add insult to injury there are threatening signs stating, "Do not move rope", "Do not touch rope", "Do not cross rope without permission", "Disrespect to our staff will not be tolerated", "You MUST have ID ready"... there were other intimidating signs... The cluster of signs, combined, made us feel extremely unwelcome. Once we were allowed into the store, it was a scene from a Fellini movie. We already knew what we wanted and made a beeline for the cash. It should be noted that the store is staffed by child labour. I doubt any of them were over the age of 20. You are forced to register before you can buy anything. This involved giving my name and phone number. The child-cashier just couldn't get the process right; he asked me for my phone number FOUR TIMES. I was beyond annoyed and close to walking out but had gone too far to give up by that point. It's true that their cannabis prices are good but you pay a very high price in many other ways. I will not be going back. I strongly recommend paying a few dollars more and going to a business that believes in customer service. read more

I am absolutely thrilled with my entire experience at Canna Cabana. My initial intro was the wonderfully polite and pleasant security guard. Upon entering the store the sales staff is at the ready to assist without being pushy (I am really uncomfortable with sales staff that pounce on you like a hungry wolf). The store layout is fresh, immaculately maintained, well organized and stock is plentiful and varied. I was very fortunate to have been served by Leah who is not only extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful but soooooooo sweet, personable and a sheer delight. Brittany L. was at the cash and is also professional and verrrrry personable. I believe Ryan (Brad P.) is management and came by to ensure everything was to my complete satisfaction. Ryan is thoroughly versed in all facets of Canna Cabana's "Mission" and is a perfect gentleman, with a delightful sense of humour and exudes excellence in customer care. NOW the product....Leah asked what type of herb I enjoy and explained numerous strains and their effects. We chose Tangerine Dream and it was delicious and exactly to my precise liking. Kudos to you Leah for the suggestion!! I also purchased a new grinder which is very well made, works perfectly and has a windowed area in order to see how much product one has left. I am not a smoker but I do represent one in the talkies..... Just joking but I came here with/for my Wife. This place is so laid back. A much better feel then the Honey Pot on Queen and University. You can't smell the samples like the Honey pot but the staff is still fairly knowledgeable and friendly. Was there today around 4:00pm - Yonge and Carleton area - it was fairly busy - there were only two salespeople on duty. They have stopped their numbering system and really can't be expected to know who should be served next but even though I told one sales person that I came in before the guy he was about to serve - I was told that he asked first for service and I would be next. Not really fair - talked with the manager and he told me that the numbering system was cancelled by the higher ups. He also told me they were short staffed and that I could use the self serve option. I use a white cane and am considered legally blind - the self serve kiosk is not an option for me. When I told the manager that I wasn't happy with the service and was about to leave without purchasing anything - the manager told me to act my age. I was not rude or demanding - just giving him my opinion - he was extremely rude but later said that I should be more understanding. He called me back when his supervisor came on the scene - I talked with her and got pretty much the same response - I guess you have to rush the salespeople when you get in the door to make sure you're served. Anyways, I won't be shopping there again - probably no skin off their noses - but there are so many places around - I'll go elsewhere where I know I'll be treated as a valued customer. read more
