We had our breakfast (cooked exactly as we wanted) in the Sun room and chatted with fellow guests from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. When done with breakfast, Raquel and Juan joined us in the sun room where we chatted about all sorts of things. I couldn't have felt more at home anywhere else. Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.

Secondly, the provided breakfast was very disappointing. So much so that we went shopping for breakfast items to keep in our room as we had no interest in dining out each morning. Also, our suite did lack robes which made it much harder to remain comfortable while we relaxed after soaking in our hot tub and during our morning breakfasts in room. That being said, if you'd prefer prepared breakfasts, there is a great couple cafes just on the other side of the parking garage that open fairly early. Just don't expect this hotel to satisfy any real hunger in the morning. To summarize what was available: Overly lemon juice coated fruits Plain white bread products with a toaster Scrambled powdered eggs and bacon so thin it doesn't even taste like bacon Cereal/milk Oatmeal Overcooked hard boiled eggs (green ring around yolks) I think I saw yogurt on people's tables but it was gone when we arrived. Lastly, the tables in the breakfast room are very wobbly. We moved once and it was still an issue at the next so that was about the time we left. That being said, here are the things we loved: -Great ambiance in the lobby with a couple games and sketchbooks to pass time. -Friendly front desk staff -charming suite with spacious hot tub and powerful shower -comfortable couches, bed, and chairs -in suite table was sturdy and did not wobble -proximity to cafes and shops -free parking -restaurant on site; for dinner only. -nearby park/trail decent for jogging/walking

The location is solid, walkable to downtown and right next to the baseball stadium. Plenty of free parking and some really cool businesses right in the vicinity. Check in was easy and staff was very friendly. We stayed in a Loft Suite and were very happy with the room. The bar in the hotel lobby was very welcoming and we enjoyed a couple cocktails both at the bar and brought to our room. Overall great experience and definitely would return.

From the moment I arrived (a bit later in the evening), Kyle met me at the car and made everything feel easy and relaxed straight away. It's a family-run place, and that comes through in a really genuine way. In the morning, Kyle's parents, Kevin and Amy, made breakfast and took the time to chat--it felt natural and unforced, just properly welcoming without being over the top. The room and the house were spotless (which I do notice), but still felt like a home rather than somewhere overly styled. It's clearly been thoughtfully put together--everything looks lovely and considered, without feeling staged or flashy. Just a home that's been really well done and well cared for. Comfortable, calm, and easy to settle into. I found myself slowing down without really trying. Breakfast was a lovely surprise--homemade granola with yoghurt to start, followed by an apple Dutch baby. It all looked beautiful and tasted just as good. Simple, thoughtful, and clearly made with care. The setting is lovely as well--quiet farmland, a pond just across the lane, and that sense of being properly away from things, even for a short stay. I don't often say this, but I've not stayed somewhere that made me feel quite like this before. At this stage of life, I'm usually the one looking after everyone else, and for a moment there, it felt like someone was looking after me. It was simple, but it meant a lot. It's not flashy, but it's very well cared for, and that makes all the difference. I'd definitely go back--next time for a bit longer, and possibly with my family.

Ruth Ann offered to send us local brochures to help us plan our trip. The Carriage House is exactly as described. Our hosts were marvelous. There is a washer and dryer on premises and a full size stove and oven, and all the utensils and stuff we needed. The house is cozy and cute. The dachshund Romeo made his way into our home and our hearts. The price is reasonable for a vacation rental and the surounding town is lovely.

The guests weren't informed that handicap parking even existed -- and apparently the only TWO handicap spaces for the entire venue were taken by the parents, leaving an older guest with a cane to climb a set of uneven concrete stairs. Aside from the main room we were in, the rest of the house was poorly lit (I guess they were going for a moody vibe), and while the bathrooms were clean, the bar area was inexplicably small for the size of the event. It felt like the space was built for old timey photos, not functionality. Most memorable (not in a good way) was the venue's primary point of contact for the evening -- the coordinator who was managing the reception timeline and vendor interactions. Her demeanor toward guests vs. vendors was shockingly different, and it was my understanding that most of the vendors were arranged by the bridal party - not the venue - so one would assume she would be more welcoming, or at least collaborative. She made it clear, without saying a word, that she would have rather been anywhere else. Everything seemed done in a huff and a haste. Watching her try to "manage" anything was almost painful - she seemed irritated, unaware, and annoyed in equal measure. Shooting daggers at other people is completely inappropriate, but you couldn't help but notice how off her vibes were. If that was her best foot forward, I truly shudder to imagine what a bad day looks like. This is a reminder to everyone that when you are responsible for any event, all eyes are on you - even when you do not think they are. A wedding venue and its staff should be able to execute hospitality, logistics, and basic human decency simultaneously. Instead, we got a coordinator whose energy was like Jekyll and Hyde - the bride and groom got one personality and everyone else got the other. For a place designed to host life's most joyful milestones, it was baffling how joyless and, quite frankly, apathetic, the venue staff seemed to be. May be time to find another line of work. The photographer was a bit of an odd guy, but not unkind, and the caterer and bartender were both lovely and as helpful as they could be, so not all was lost, but they surely had no affiliation with the venue. They at least know how to remain professional with an audience. This place may photograph well, but kindness, competence, and hospitality cannot be Photoshopped in. I left feeling bad for the couple who trusted this venue with such an important day, and I would strongly urge future couples to look elsewhere. It seems like this place is just trying to make a buck in the easiest way possible. Weddings deserve warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism -- and we unfortunately experienced the exact opposite here.

During COVID, we liked that our room had its own exterior door & that we could eat breakfast in our room. Our room was beautiful & decorated in floral lavender. The bed was comfortable & the fireplace made it very cozy during a very cold & snowy weekend. The inn & grounds were also gorgeous & well kept. We would like to be able to explore more of the inn's common areas when we return post COVID. We LOVED the breakfast. It was unique and absolutely delicious! The blueberry breakfast cake is something you should not miss! We also took advantage of the couple's massage at the in-house spa. It was professional, relaxing, & exceptionally well done. Karen & her family are friendly inn keepers & we look forward to our next getaway with them!

The Berry Patch is a beautiful place. The grounds are gorgeous. However, the room we ended up…read morestaying in was not the room we booked, which was very disappointing. The one we booked apparently had "maintenance issues", so we were placed in another room that we really weren't happy with. While it was functionally fine, it looked like it was straight out of a Golden Girls episode, and really wasn't what we wanted at all. We checked the refrigerator in the room and discovered that the previous occupant's leftovers were still there. There was also a dirty sock under the bed. Not even way under, I just bent down and saw it. It was also $25 cheaper than the room we booked, but we weren't refunded the difference. We really should've been informed beforehand that the room we booked wasn't available so we could make other plans. At the very least, we should've been refunded the difference between the room we booked and the one we ended up with. On to breakfast.... Unfortunately, it was nothing memorable. Fruit, a small cup of eggs and ham that my husband said tasted odd. French toast that was doused in sugary strawberry syrup. After we left we got breakfast at a diner nearby, which we DID enjoy. So overall, not a great experience. I think we would have enjoyed our stay a whole lot more if we'd actually been able to stay in the room we booked, but as it stands now, we probably won't be going back to the Berry Patch.

We had site 109 for our 33ft camper was so tight and zero privacy with your neighbors sewer hookup at your door and cabins staring at your picnic table at the rear. We apologized to our neighbors when we were leaving while they set up their breakfast and we dumped our tanks. If they widened sites it could be a decent place to stay because it seemed updated. We went to mountain creek 16 minutes down the road and enjoyed a W/E site with room to move.
