I still got a knock on the door, a steaming cup of coffee and homemade biscotti waiting for me in the dining room. Jim and Jean were wonderful hosts; and the Victorian house they designed and built together is magnificent. My dinner plans fell through one evening and they graciously invited me to join them. It was a lovely meal with great conversation. The breakfast is delicious and made with fresh ingredients - Jean made me a bowl of yogurt w/ homemade granola and fresh raspberries and blackberries, followed by free-range organic scrambled eggs, fresh steamed asparagus, canadian bacon, and an english muffin. And of course a glass of OJ and a big mug of french press coffee. The house is an amazing project they accomplished together; there is an album of 'before pictures' tucked away in the parlor. And the details in every corner of the house are truly unique. There are a number of books and magazines on York, the surrounding cities, and Victorian homes sprinkled about the house. And there are beautiful paintings (by Jean) on the walls of countryside scenes in England; and a lone sheep by the door, a remnant of the original house. I stayed two nights in the Grecian room, which had a gorgeous bathroom, an attached patio, and of course a luxurious fluffy bed! This is a wonderful place to stay, while visiting the area. I had a lovely time and hope to see my new friends at Lady Linden soon.

Jim, is from a mennonite family, so he can answer a lot of questions about the mennonite history in PA and also he was born in Tanzania while his parents were on a mission trip. We went in winter with snow so there were many aspects, like the balcony and grounds which we did not get to explore. the house seems smaller than it looks. you will only have accesss to view your room- the parlor and dining. this B&B has only two guest rooms. it's a very very intimate atmosphere- if you want your space- this stay would not be ideal for you. expect to be greeted and chatted up whenever you enter or leave and asked about what you will do while in york. Jean and Jim are very nice and have lots of york knowledge and their own personal stories to share. But make sure you have time to chat when you engage them. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO ON ROMANTIC NIGHT AND EXPECT TO MAKE OUT. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING IN THIS HOUSE AND THE BED CREAKS. you can hear discussions thruought the home. BED IS SUPER SOFT- I prefer firm beds The breakfast is ok ok. Its pretty basic. I felt the eggs were cooked with a lot of butter. Overall Im glad I went there. But I am not sure I would recommend it immediately.

Our room was cozy and featured a wood-burning fireplace. Right outside our door was a stockpile of pre-cut wooden logs, not to mention a beautiful deck that overlooks the forest-covered property. The house is located within a deep, dense canopy, and if you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place for you. The outdoor area features a calming brook, a swing-set, a fire pit, and so on. Each morning, our gracious hosts left coffee on the deck for us to enjoy upon waking up. Afterwords, we made our way inside to the dining area, where George & Bonnie provided a delicious breakfast tailored to our individual preferences (my wife is a vegetarian). Bonnie's pumpkin bread was a real highlight! We stayed for 2 nights, and were absolutely stuffed to the brim after each breakfast. That's exactly the kind of service and hospitality you are looking for at a B&B! We have nothing but positive praise for this experience. Thank you George & Bonnie!!

This house was supper clean and neat. The entire house is upgrade. The decor bright yet warn country home. Internet system is solid and fast. All smart flat TV interconnected with five zone stereo systems throughout the house. We were impressed with how clean everything was, the diligence, and attention to detail of workmanship. The house has been totally upgraded with quality products and quality work, ceiling to floors. Lighting in this house state of the art both inside and outside. The kitchen is fully equipped with all new appliances. It had everything we could think of including two refrigerators, gas top cooking and every item a top chef could thing of needing. Windows that looked directly out on to the Susquehanna River House with its private dock. Two of the four bedrooms has their own ensuites. The Master Bedroom on the main floor really big with a river view which is magnificent, plus a large three head shower big for two people at a time. All linens towels etc are highest quality plush and provided. a view of the water which was magnificent. The air-conditioning is zones in the different rooms give the ability for all the have comfort to their choosing. Absolutely no negatives in this house. I did not expect the internet to be good in such a remote area; but, to my surprise it worked fine throughout the whole property. Lighting in this house is beyond expectation. You have to see it. The porch on the house is outstanding with tables chairs, rockers, a complete wet bar and the perfect view of the river The attention to detain in this house say Quality Quality, and Quality! This was the worst B&B I have ever experienced. We booked a…read morefive day stay for three couples a year in advance. When we arrived, we couldn't get in the building or our room. We had to make several phone calls to get the codes to access the building and room. This was just the first of many problems we encountered. The rooms were nice, but the service was terrible. We paid for a hot breakfast every morning, which was advertised when we booked. This was not the case when we arrived. No hot breakfast at all. Just cold lunch meat,hard boiled eggs, toast if you wanted to fix it yourself, instant oatmeal in a packet, over ripped bananas, and strawberries. This is not the hot breakfast that we paid for. I contacted the management company that operates the B&B and was told they stopped the hot breakfast two weeks before we arrived. I ask why we weren't informed about this. I was told they couldn't notified everyone that had reservations, over four hundred. I told them we would like to have a partial refund because they didn't give us what was advertised, and we paid for. As of today, they still list a hot breakfast on most of the travel websites. They didn't offer any refund. They said to review the cancellation policy. I then said we would have cancelled our entire stay if we had known this before we left home. Still no offer to at least a partial refund. We had to go to a restaurant and get our breakfast every day, and that was an extra expense. As of today, after several back and forth emails, still no offer of any kind of refund. As far as the service part of our stay. We had to ask every day for clean towels, wouldn't take the dirty ones, or empty the trash during our entire stay. I told the management company this is not a good way to run a business. I don't think they care at all about how they treat the people that rent at this B&B. I would never book this place again. I hope people read this review and avoid this property.
