When you walk shop looks really messy and unorganized, but I felt encouraged because they were friendly and polite. The way the salon looked was not at all relaxing. The service was going okay until they were trying to mix the color I chose with white; but I was explaining to them that it makes it a different shade. They also were not trying to give more than two coats, meaning one white and one yellow (the color I chose) because it would make it too "heavy". I have been getting my nails done for years and never had this much debate over a gel pedicure. I left and told them I would get my pedicure and manicure finished at another place. When I went to the second nail salon there was no discussion/debate or confusion about the color and polish. There were kids playing in the salon, and while I am for an inclusive workplace, I think they should consider having a designated play area, just so it looks more professional. Walked in around noon on a Thursday. Wasn't very busy, they were able to take me right away, I brought my laptop and worked. Got the deluxe pedicure, my feet look and feel great. The price was $50 for that which is considerably cheaper than places I've gone to in DC/VA. But this is Baltimore so ‍ She did a great job and it was done in about 45 minutes. This review is for two visits and both were subpar experiences. Came in for a walk in 11:15 on a Saturday. While they were able to seat me for a pedicure right away, it started getting busy during my pedi as more people came in for walk ins. I'd say the pedi was done by noon, and the lady sat me to dry my toes under the UV light and left me there to sit, forever. I just got up when I felt like they were done. I just found that weird you leave your customer there without communicating how long to sit there because I don't get my nails done often. Second visit I got a manicure. It was shoddy work, didn't realize how they looked until after they fully dried and by then I was just tired and ready to go. It's clean and relatively cheap ($35 for the base pedicure), but it's not the kind of place with free champagne and white leather. They do they let you tip via Venmo in case you don't have cash, which is very nice. I have had pretty consistent good experiences with basic pedicures and manicures here. It can be a bit inconsistent, depending on your technician. I highly recommend Maria, who is a detail oriented gem. You can make reservations online, but beware that this doesn't seem to guarantee that a technician will be available at your reservation time. When I've come for my reservation and the salon is slow, I've been seen right away, but when it is busy, I've had to wait with the walk-in customers. Came in here for the first time to get glitter dip mani on natural nails. I watched with wariness as after the dip and seal process, the tech buffed with the drill for all eternity before putting on the final clear coat. So basically the work of the dip layers was undone. I work in the service industry so I need dip to be sturdy and literally every single nail was chipped around the top two days later. I went in today for a dip manicure. Unfortunately. The texture and color turned out poorly and I was told my skin color being darker might be the reason the color didn't show up right. The manicurist then said he would redo the color and asked me to select a different one. He put the color in 10minutes and I noticed the bottle said gel color instead of a dip. They attempted to charge me for a full dip manicure and were dishonest about it. Thank god I stood up for myself and was aware enough to realize that they were not being forthright. read more

I visited Canton nails for the first time because I moved really close by and was able to walk there. There were no other customers the whole time I was there, which was for about an hour and a half. Covid has really done damage to a lot of businesses! JoJo did my nails and she did a great job! she was thorough and worked really hard to make me happy and really took her time. I get dip often, so I know it takes a good amount of time to get it right. I don't mind sitting in the chair for an hour and a half if it is going to be a great shape in the end. Came here with my friend - I got a pedicure and she got a gel manicure. I had the man (sorry don't know his name) for my pedicure and I feel like he couldn't have gotten me out of there fast enough. He definitely didn't care about what he was doing and just wanted to get to the next customer. I was finished in record time (15 min) and he definitely skipped some steps along the way. My friend was also less than pleased with her gel manicure. There's bumps in the gel nail polish, all the edges of her nails are sharp and uneven, and there's paint on the skin. She also said that her gel mani feels thin and flimsy rather than the usual hard and thick for a gel mani. On the Canton Nails website there is an advertised "happy hour." We both wanted this and they denied it for both of us. I even showed the man the image from THEIR website on my phone and he just said no, and then proceeded to try and up-sell me for the most expensive pedicure. I said no and that is when he got an attitude. My friend also asked the girl doing her nails about the happy hour and she just said they don't do it and it's only for if you get he combo of pedi and gel mani - which is not what the photo from their website implies at all. (Just a disclaimer that this review is from August and I haven't been back since then). I have heard coworkers talk about this place a few times so I decided to try a new place for my birthday since my normal shop is a bit far away. I got seated right away since it was like a Tuesday morning. Ms. Mimi did a great job overall and was a joy to converse with. She also convinced me to try almond-shaped nails which I had never tried before. Loved them! I could tell she's been doing this for awhile and knows what she's doing. The only thing is that the gel UV light was used over top of the dip powder and I get dip specifically because gel wreaks havoc on my nails. They held up for the first 2 weeks and then after that, it was over. Literally broke off one by one. It was mostly disappointing because they were my natural nails that I was sooo proud of and they are still suffering 3 months later :(. The girl doing my pedicure was very obviously new. My pedicure water was really really hot and I wasn't asked, I had to tell her. I had to ask her 3 times to cut my toenails down. She finally did but in the process also poked me with the cuticle trimmer to the point where I LITERALLY yelled ouch. I *knew* I was bleeding but I guess she didn't realize that I knew because of the way she was trying to hide it. She eventually got some help from Mimi (thank goodness). I have no issues with people learning and training but please at the very least, APOLOGIZE when you do something wrong, lol. Mimi did do a flower design on my nails for free because of the mishap so not all was lost. In conclusion.........I haven't been back for a reason. It's not a bad place if your nails can handle the UV light like 6x over. In case you're wondering, the shop that I go to consistently is Unique Boutique Nails. I asked for a gel manicure and had to stop her as she began prepping my nails for fake nails. While prepping my nails she cut my finger and tried to hide it. Then told me not to wash my hand. She buffed one hand and forgot to buff the other. When I reminded her that she hadn't finished with the other hand she was reluctant to fix the mistake. When she finally began painting my nails, the paint job was sloppy. Her phone rang half way through and she answered while still finishing my manicure. I watched as she returned all the bowls and tools she used for me back to their drawers and shelves with rinsing or sanitizing them (after cutting my hand and me bleeding!). At the end when she checked me out, she tried to charge me $50 for a $35 manicure. This woman's name was Mimi and as my first experience with this salon, she left a terrible impression. I would give Canton Nails 0 stars if I could. I am absolutely appalled at the way I was treated by Winston. Within 24 hours of my dip manicure (with tips) my pointer finger nail bumped against someone's arm and ripped off (including part of my real nail) I thought this was strange but figured I'd get it fixed once it had healed. One day later I was picking something up when my ring finger nail broke off, again tearing part of my real nail with it. It's been two days since getting my nails done and I now have two broken nails. At this point, I went into the salon and explained to winston that I would like them taken off and a refund. He refused to give me a refund because "it was my fault I wasn't careful with my long nails". I have been getting long nails for over ten years and have never had this problem. He informed me that I should've told the nail tech to make them thicker so they were stronger if I wanted them long. I explained that I shouldn't have to tell a nail tech how to do their job. Now I'm left with two bleeding nails and the rest are short and uneven. He was extremely rude and I am shocked at the way I was treated. I will not be returning. I spent over $100 between my nails and a pedicure. Canton Nails couldn't even reimburse me for my nails or the pain that was caused due to poorly done dip nails. Even if they hadn't broken they were bumpy and uneven. This was the biggest waste of money. Hopefully I can help you avoid making the same mistake I did by going to Canton Nails. read more

I had such high hopes. My niece goes here often and always loves her nails. I went on Sunday 11/14 and got the dip powder and a pedicure. My feet are awesome but these fingers are a different story. On 11/18 I returned because on of my nails cracked when opening my door, the day before. I had also noticed that another nail began to lift. Mind you it's only been 4 days. I went and got the 2 repaired. Here it is Saturday 11/20 and 3 other nails are lifted like it's been weeks, like it hasn't even been a full 7 days yet! I go on vacation on 11/26 and will have to try to get my nails redone before then. I understand nail growth but this isn't growth, my nails haven't grown out, the dip powder is literally lifted to the point I could pull the nail off at this point. Highly disappointed! read more

The service here sucks! It's a nice, clean looking place with a lot of polish to choose from but the service was the WORST! Gel mani chipped in 5 days. Sat in freezing cold pedi water for 45 minutes before I was helped. My friend was completely finished their services before they even started on mine. In fact, the same person worked on both of us. They have an extensive selection of polish. The location is super walkable and on the same strip as a lot of bars and dining (the "Canton Square"), which I prefer. I live in the neighborhood and love to get gel polish here. They do a great job overall and I am happy w/ the gel manicures I have received. Nice atmosphere, typical city prices. Would be 5 stars if they double-checked all the lengths were even before proceeding to polish, etc.... I'm pretty picky when it comes to salon manicures as I have gotten hundred of them. You also cannot tip on your credit card, which has resulted in a few trips to the ATM. read more
