Jocelyn had already been working on my service for about 15 minutes when Mimi arrived to begin my friend's appointment. What happened next made both my friend and me extremely uncomfortable. Jocelyn had positioned her cart in a spot that wasn't bothering anyone and wasn't interfering with another guest receiving a pedicure. Instead of politely asking for space or moving her own cart, Mimi forcefully bumped Jocelyn's cart and told her to move. What followed felt less like a workplace disagreement and more like bullying. The interaction continued in front of customers, creating a very awkward environment. To her credit, Jocelyn remained professional and focused on her work. She stayed quiet for most of the exchange and simply explained that the behavior was inappropriate in front of guests. Eventually the situation settled down, but the tension remained for the rest of our services. I don't know the history between these two employees, and frankly, that's none of my business. What I do know is that customers should never be made part of workplace conflict. My friend and I were both uncomfortable, and at one point I genuinely wanted to stand up for Jocelyn because the situation felt unfair and unnecessary. As for the pedicure itself, it was good overall. Unfortunately my gel polish started lifting and peeling less than a week later. I appreciate that many people have had great experiences here, but this was ours. It was disappointing, especially because I brought a friend there after a long flight hoping we could relax and enjoy ourselves. My hope is that Blue Sky Nails & Spa creates a more supportive and professional environment for its staff because what I witnessed that day was not something customers should have to see. First, the massage chair wasn't reclining (the second one upon entry), which wasn't a huge issue--things happen. However, the real concerns started during the service. My cousin opted for the deluxe pedicure with paraffin, but instead of letting the paraffin sit and harden as it should, the technician (I believe his name is Jimmy) kept rubbing it into her feet, which was frustrating for her. I specifically chose the $45 pedicure with extended massage, but my technician spent about 25-30 minutes massaging my legs and barely 5-7 minutes on my feet, which is not what I paid for. While they did take their time, she then cut my big toe down too low and denied cutting it, even though I watched her do it. Now, my toenails are uneven--one is weirdly rounded, and the other is square (I'll attach a picture). As soon as my technician noticed I was unhappy, she rushed me to pay and move to the drying station, saying she had another client--even though I sat there for another 20 minutes without seeing anyone else getting a pedicure. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to my cousin, the owner overheard and immediately became dismissive and argumentative instead of addressing my concerns. With that being said, Chin took great care in getting my very damaged and very short nails back to looking really nice, and we agreed only one tip for a nail that I had bit off so short it was painful. An chimed in on the color selection, and the two of them got me to a beautiful shade of champagne. As I sat in their salon, I lost sight of the fact that I was right off Eastern Avenue. I asked if they can do an extension on my big toe and she asks if I booked it and I said no because there was no option online for it but that I did call right after I booked it and the lady I spoke to did say the day of the appointment I can request it as an add on service. So she translates and she starts with my pedicure first. Cool. No issues. The older lady was nice but her nail skills were someone learning. Maybe she couldn't see well anymore, I don't know but the two toes I requested were HORRENDOUS. The translator was sitting next to us with a client and when I got her attention I told her I booked an extension. She's like are you sure? And I said no yes I booked it. She checks and confirms and tells me, it early enough for her to restart my nails for the extension. Oh thank you for your generosity! ‍ Mind you I had prepaid for the services when booking. I have NEVER had my hands done and they not been prep my nails like push back my cuticles and trim them. She did nothing but start with buffing on my nail bed and start with the extensions with the glue. She also went under my nails and added the glue which my skin get attached to the nail. Several of my nails were stuck together like this. ‍ Oh boy and the nail shape. I asked oval. Ended with lopsided round. Then lumps in the nail gel powder. ‍ I did mention it and tried to buff a few out which meant she saw them but then those spots looked like mini hills when she dipped again in the nail powder. LORD! ‍ Okay. I know now I will have get my nails redone when I get back home because this was WILD work. So now it's time to pay for the addons ( lower leg wax and the two toes) charges me $40. I pay. Time for gratuity. I put none. I am not one to not tip but that WHOLE experience was TERRIBLE. The tech made eye contact with me when she saw the receipt and the one who first spoke to me about picking a color looked down at the receipt. She didn't ask anything on how the service was so I kept my mouth shut. Even the client who she was taking care of looked at me and could see how unhappy I was. I just walked out. Overall, the care I received was good, tho there was a sharp pinch on one of my toes during the cuticle cutting part of my pedicure. I appreciated the gentleness with which the nail tech removed the old gel from my fingernails, and the whole process was fairly quick (aside from the initial wait), which is awesome. One of my nails was super craggy at the bottom after a week though, which was not awesome, but happens sometimes. My second visit, I only did a polish change on my fingernails. Again, the tech was super gentle removing the old gel and she quickly painted my nails.
