Went to renew a CD and open business and personal checking accounts. Staff member was unprofessional and rude. Although we had an appointment, during our conversation staff member got up and left the meeting without excusing herself and returned several minutes later with her manager. The manager introduced herself and said she was there to sit in on the meeting . The staff member then lied stating that she had told us information that she did not during our initial encounter. Ended up leaving without doing business. It's no wonder they have poor ratings for this location. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment with the recent customer service experience I had at Canvas Credit Union located at Evans in Denver. As a loyal customer of 30+ years, I was surprised by the lack of flexibility and understanding shown when I requested a waiver for a $3 cashier's check fee. The manager's response was unsatisfactory, citing Federal Reserve charges as justification in which he began his response by saying "let me enlighten you". I politely explained that it wasn't about the money but the principle, only to be told that regardless of my loyalty or deposited funds they would not waive the charge. He then stated that the other credit union that partners with Canvas charged me the $3.00 fee. As a follow-up I called them and they said that was not true and they could not refund the charge because they did not assess the charge. This incident has left me questioning the level of service provided by Canvas Credit Union. read more

After filing for bankruptcy they started mailing me paper statements when I requested that I don't want to waste paper you know the environment and all and in addition if you keep the car and continue to make payments they don't let you use the app anymore whatsoever you have to drive to their location to make a payment will be closing my account with this bank as soon as my car is paid off in addition this bank will not let you deposit change that is ridiculous you cannot deposit $15 in change into your account they charge you a fee read more

In July they "updated" their online portal, in doing so all scheduled transactions and automatic payments were deleted with no notice to us the clients. Bills were paid late with late fees due to them not informing their clients that they would need to make these payment manually. I STILL CANNOT SCHEUDLE MONEY TRANSFERS FOR MORE THAN DAY OUT. I have sent them several notices that I cannot set up automatic payments or even transfers from internal accounts if it is on a different calendar day. They just keep saying we are working on it. But it feels like they intentionally removed that function so they can collect more money from their clients with fees associated to the removal of the function, and keep more money in house by not allowing to schedule out payments to others. I CANNOT WAIT TO BE DONE WITH THEM AND THEIR INCOMPETENCE. read more

They add late fee when your within your grace period and will not remove them making your payments look late every month then reporting to your credit that your payments are paid late due to unknown late fees added to the account. I spent hours on the phone with them to try and clear this up, paid what the asked in full only to have it happen the following month. Then they added insurance to the loan when I received an email conformation that they received our documents and they will not remove their $125 a month extra insurance when I carry insurance. ​Their customer service is rude and unwilling to help. read more

*This post is about PSCU in general no specific Location. Every rep spoken to was over the phone. What a wonderful bank PSCU is.... I put my account on hold with 24 Hour fitness due to a knee injury. The 24 Hour rep told me that I would be charged $10 for the hold or if I got a note from my doctor to have the fee waived. On 6/2 I was charged the full monthly fee of $29.99 to my checking account from 24 Hour Fitness and the charge caused my account to be over drafted. PSCU charges $100 increments from the overdraft line of credit, the only thing that PSCU offers to offset overdraft charges. I filed a dispute with PSCU, won the $29.99 back but did not receive a credit back to my overdraft line. I spoke to three PSCU reps. The first rep took the money from my checking account into the overdraft and I put the money back into my checking. The second rep I spoke to told me that a credit would not be given. The third rep said that the overdraft line of credit benefited me and that the money from my savings or checking would need to be used to pay back the overdraft line. If I am to use my own money to pay back the overdraft why would I need a credit line? Why not use my savings to offset any overdrafts? That's right because banks hustle people out of their money. Prior to the $29.99 charge from 24 Hour Fitness I had enough money to keep me from overdrafting my account. If 24 Hour would have made the correct charge of $10 I still had enough to not be over drafted. That clearly means that it cost me $70 to file a dispute and win the $29.99 back from 24 Hour Fitness when they were clearly the cause of the over draft. Thank you PSCU for your less than great banking services. New info.. I wrote this post on the the PSCU Facebook page this afternoon which got the attention of a manager named Terri. She spoke to me about the situation and also said the same things as the other three reps. The bank has no intention of crediting me back and expects me to pay for the $100 overdraft line of credit. This credit union failed to notify me of an overdraft, which they could have just refused to pay out, and then sent me to collections for less than $90. They literally dinged my credit over an $89 charge. When I called to see if it could be taken off my credit report because I had paid it in full and would have done so earlier had I known, staff were incredibly rude and condescending. This is a credit union that acts no better than the massive banks we use credit unions to avoid. Y'all should be embarrassed. read more

I've been a member of the credit union on E. Evans when it was first owned by Ent, then PSCU and now Canvas, so it's been more than 25 years. It's really gone downhill. For example, they recently changed the website's platform. There are some challenges with it. I contacted the Asst Mgr, Juan. If I email him with two questions, he might respond to one. Then I have to ask again. He still doesn't respond and I send a follow up. He said he was out of the office. Why didn't his email send an autoreply such as, 'Out of office until x, need help now, please contact....' I still needed assistance so I called and left a message on his voicemail on 8/9/23 as noon but I never got a return call. I went to the facility on 8/11/23 and asked that the manager, Jason, call me when he returned from lunch. Now it's 8/15/23 and I still haven't heard from him. It's a hassle changing banks because of everything that I set up with other institutions but it might end up being worth it if they don't improve their act. They make it difficult to contact headquarters because there is no phone number or email address for it. If you're looking for a CU, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

So I have a mortgage with Canvas. All I want to do every month is make a payment, and they make it impossible. If you log in to the online account, there is a button next to the mortgage loan that says "Pay Now." I enter all my information.....it doesn't work. Tried to do an online transfer.....it doesn't work. Ask for help with the online "contact us" feature. They tell me to call in to talk to someone in the mortgage department. Last time I did that, they took a double payment and then blamed it on me when I escalated it. You can mail a payment in, but it typically takes 1-2 weeks to process. So I drove to the branch again, because this credit union has not caught on with the 21st century yet and has the technology of the horse and buggy days. They moved their drive up, a predominant building when you first turn into the parking lot, to the back of the branch with minimal signage. The thing is hilarious, it looks like a Fisher Price toy. Make my payment, they place it on a 5 day hold....A LOAN PAYMENT. So even though I paid it yesterday, I have to wait 5 days before they apply it. So then I use the contact us feature again, and after going back and forth with 5 different requests, they still have not released the hold and applied my payment. I am going to be looking for a different mortgage company and I don't care how much higher the interest rate is, because the complete incompetence of every dealing I have with this credit union has entered terminal velocity. Avoid it all costs. read more

Canvas Credit Union is just another bank that will do whatever it can to take your money. My old credit union is in another state (University of Iowa Community Credit Union), so I can't use them anymore and I miss them dearly. I moved my accounts to First Bank and am marginally happy with the move, given that I have to choose between generic evil and evil that tells me they want to support communities and local development. In my mind, because Canvas purports themselves as pro-community, they are worse than generic mega-banks who are explicitly out to profit from their customers. read more

I came in with an issue on an off day with my card stuck in the ATM. While the team on site on an off day could not help, two employees (James B and another delightful coworker whose name I did not catch) tried not only to help immediately but also carefully checked to see if they could do anything at all to assist me even though I am a member of another credit union entirely. They showed professionalism, ownership over a situation they did not cause, and creativity. I was impressed enough that if I ever leave my own beloved credit Union of 30 years, Canvas will top the list of candidates I examine. Thanks James and Co! read more

I was a member of PSCU before they became Canvas Credit Union. I had better service at PSCU and since the switch have issues with them.

I don't have high expectations for a bank, but the experience at this branch was abominable. I walk in and was able to get to a teller pretty quickly as the bank is pretty empty. However, once I ask if I can open an account, I am rudely told that I need an appointment. Now that alone isn't Yelp review worthy, so because I'm there, I ask if they can exchange my rolled coins into dollar bills. I am told that no, they can not exchange rolled coins. Im sorry but what type of bank doesn't accept rolled coins??? I then went to my local Wells Fargo where A, I was helped by the friendly associate who helped me open an account, no appointment needed, despite how busy it was there. And B, they exchanged the rolled coins for dollar bills. read more

They are absolutely horrible. They do not track purchases very well at all. If you happen to go over, because they do not track or subtract your purchase from your account, they charge you $30. For someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, while being in school, I count every dollar. If my account says I have money in it, I expect that that is the correct amount. Their app is horrendous and has gone majorly downhill. Do not, I repeat, do not bank with them. If I could give them -30 I would. I have been banking with them my entire life and haven't issues arise until they got bought out. They need to seriously start to consider their customer and not their bottom-line or they will continue to lose people. read more

I used to have personal and business accounts with PSCU. Last year, when they changed their website, I started having problems logging in and getting to my money so I and moved my personal accounts elsewhere. I kept my business account with the credit union because it enabled me to send my office rent automatically to my landlord. Since they've become Canvas Credit Union, I've had nothing but problems. Three months ago, they sent my rent payment twice on the same day. Two months later, they didn't send the automatic payment despite my calling to make sure it was in place. I'm still having problems using the website and mobile app. I no longer get paper statements so the problems often come as a surprise. After nearly ten years with this bank, I'm ready to bail out completely. I can go back to sending checks to my landlord every month; it beats double payments and late fees. read more

It's an ok ATM location if you need to make a quick trip to the bank. Assuming you can figure out where to pull in and make your transaction. The bank is on the corner of Evans and Pontiac, just a street away from Evans and Quebec. There are several driveways for other businesses on this corner and signage for PSCU. But to get in, you have to drive past the intersection and wait forever for busy Evans traffic before turning left. It's kind of a cluster. The ATM is a separate driveway/lane from the banking. That's kind of confusing as well. As to where to exit, I think I did what I was supposed to, but maybe not. For such a remote center, it's not terribly convenient. read more

I started a loan out with this credit union back on 2016- As of today I called to find out my pay off year and they told me it was pushed out too 2025 when I only singed up for a 72 month deal yes at the time I had a high interest rate so I get that, I proved them insurance over 10 plus time in the 4 years now they are saying they never got it I have emails from them saying they dId, they are saying they pushed out the out loan date because of the $100 insurance they added onto my loan, so I ask you pushed my loan out because insurance not bbEcause of payemnts means you are charging me more interest nOw, even though. I have an agreement showing what I should pay in interest. I guess they means nothing as long as they get more mOney from screwing me. I think Its against the Law to extend my loan term read more

I've been a member for almost 10 years. I have multiple accounts and Investments with the co-op. Everyone has always been Pleasant, both inside and outside the locations. However I had a very disturbing call with a woman today concerning a credit card. She interrupted me multiple times at which time I will just stop speaking. Then had the nerve to tell me after she had repeated herself four times. So I had the information. She told me she couldn't tell me anything if I didn't stop interrupting her. She tried to explain a post as opposed to a payment, which I immediately told her. I understand that. That is why I use your credit cards and not your debit card, if this is properly resolved, I would give them a solid four and recommend them. Again this is a one in 10 year recurrence but this agent was so rude . So Yelp I have heard they can be bad faith lenders, but, I have not ever borrowed money from them. Otherwise, as I said, it has always been a pleasant experience. And the employees have been very helpful. For the same reason I will not give the name or contact the institution just yet. I just felt like this woman could really use some training. read more

I paid off my car probably over a year ago and when I went to get the Title the DMV notified me that the bank never sent them the release of lien. My car broke down and now I'm stuck without a car and I can't sell it and use that cash for a down payment for who knows how long until I can get the Title. I'm having to Uber around to the DMV to correct the situation that CCU messed up. The lady on the phone didn't sound the least bit apologetic. I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed. So easy for people to take your money but when it's their turn to do their part, they could care less since they already have your $$$. Do better, CCU. OMG..... their online banking system is alarmingly ugly. And NOT intuitive at all. I've finally come to the point where I call THEM to make my auto loan payment, which I have through them. It's just an ugly, ugly navigation system. I'm online all day long - and I do pretty much every. single. thing. electronically. And I have never EVER experienced such a poor navigation system - the platform they've chosen is ridiculous. At first I was second-guessing myself, thinking "oh....weird..... why in the hell don't I GET this??" Eventually I realized it's them. It's truly ALL them. Why they choose this platform is beyond me. And calling PSCU is awful. Their wait time to reach an agent is consistently lengthy. And I've had bad/wrong information a few times that would have cost me $$$ if I hadn't called yet AGAIN, and reached a different agent because the first piece of information I'd get would make no sense. So their quality control seems to be lacking. I would never recommend this credit union, and I've "banked" at several different c.u.'s in my life but never experienced the twisted website navigation that PSCU puts you through. It's a constant headache and there are so many good credit unions out there, with up-to-date and user-friendly websites - PSCU's is pure garbage. read more

I had yet another problem with Canvas. I closed my checking account over a year ago due to their incompetence. Then a year later I get a letter saying my account is overdrawn because of life insurance that I got through them and that they obviously never closed the account. So they wanted $43.50 for fees for an overdrawn account that was only a problem because they didn't do their jobs. AGAIN! Also, please stop calling us "family members." You're not a part of my family and I'd never choose you to be. It's such a cheesy, phony way of doing your marketing and a strategy that was overused by 1990. Got financed through the credit union just recently, all the paper work was was submitted properly with my husband first, me and then last my father from him being a co-signer. They apparently are allowed to change this around and made my father the primary account holder. All info sent to him and his house. He doesn't make the payments, this isn't his truck, he doesn't make the payments. He co-signed with us as a favor. I call them to Get it corrected and they tell me that's not an option. He has the best credit so that's how they did it and that we have no option but to re-finance. Sounds dumb to have to refinance on a truck we just got a long loan on I'm not going to pay more in the long run just to chance paperwork that was filled incorrectly and whatever way they felt like doing. I have banked with PSCU for about 4 years now. I had a vehicle loan I have diligently paid on for over 3 years. I traded in that car and got a new one, we called PSCU to get a payoff so we could pay off the loan. They apparently gave me the wrong amount. So the dealership OVERNIGHTED a check to payoff the car, PSCU rejected the check because it was apparently a little short. So instead of calling me to tell me, or letting me know, or anything, they rejected it and sent the check back to the dealership via US mail (the dealership still doesn't have it because it takes "7-10 business days" to get there) and during that time interest is accruing. So now, I have missed a payment on a vehicle that was supposed to be paid off, I have late fees, accrued interest, and now a late payment reported to my credit. I thought places like PSCU were supposed to be for the members??! I did everything I was supposed to do, I paid my payments on time, I got a payoff, they overnighted a check. If it was short, tell me, I'd happily pay you the difference. I had been doing it for years. But PSCU is so worried about their bottom line (even though you're supposed to be non profit). I'm sure this is just your "policy" and it might be other financial institutions policy too but it sucks and PSCU screwed me over. This is something Wells Fargo would do and be proud of. Agree with every other review that this is the most outdated and pathetic version of a credit union. I bought a car two years ago and the loan through the dealership ended up going through them. About 6 months ago I was FINALLY able to pay my car note online but it honestly looks like some high schooler is running their website. Here's where they really made me angry though: I recently changed my name due to marriage. I sent two messages through their online system asking what documentation they needed to update my name change. No response. I call the 1-800 number and a (very rude) woman tells me I need to fill out some forms and get them notarized. What?? I start arguing with her how ridiculous that is for a name change. I get the forms in the mail today and think it just doesn't seem right. I call them again, and they say, NO, i don't know what she sent you, we just need a copy of your marriage license and drivers license. I ask her if they will accept my new social security card which she says NO they need the drivers license (doesn't seem right either) but whatever. I got zero apologies for getting the enormous run around on what should be a very simple process. Guess I broke their brains with this complicated task. These people are beyond clueless. I'm glad I only have a small car loan with them and I'm not trusting them with our actual money or I'd pull it out in a hot second. read more

This is the WORST bank that I have ever done business with. Aside from having my account hacked 6 times over the past 4 years, the staff is rude and, untrained. Some times staff is even inappropriately dressed. The Evans branch has awful customer service. Canvas as a whole is a terrible operation that consistently fails to communicate with their customers. They put a hold on my account without informing me first. I was paying rent and they assumed fraud was being committed...mind you through my own account, on my own phone! ZERO CHECKS and BALANCES! A complete mess. And yes, rent was processed late as a result. Corporate was apologetic but failed to recognize the severity of the issue. The problems? Ongoing. The mistrust? Overwhelming. I dropped the ball and got a loan through this bank, hence why I am STILL FORCED to deal with them after all this turmoil. Do not trust these people with your money. Awful. read more

If I would have known 6 months ago how hard they were going to fuck me on this auto loan, I would never have financed the car through them. I like credit unions and Public Service Credit Union is one of the larger (if not largest) credit union in Denver. It's very handy that there is location on Evans near my home and an ATM at my job. I signed up for an account in December 2009 and I've been very happy with the service at this bank. My bank even noticed some fradulent activity in June and immediately put a hold on my account, so the false charges never hit my account. I was able to go a location and get a new debit card issued to me the same day. Now that's what I call service. I am very happy that I moved my account from Chase to PSCU. read more
