The staff at Canventa really take good care of you by making sure you feel welcomed, heard, and also making sure that all of your questions are answered. The environment is extremely clean, and staff are attentive and highly communicative. I really appreciate Mariann & Andrew for making my experience smooth and pain free. I went in for a screening done by Andrew and got approved fast for the bone marrow donation. Then scheduled and did my bone marrow 3 weeks later and my PA Lenny and Nurse Mariann made the whole process quick, easy, and as pain free as can be. I was well informed of all the risks and benefits and how I stand to benefit and how others will and I felt that it made me feel more comfortable to donate. Ive had wonderful experiences donating marrow and blood multiple times until last time when the one nurse who talks really loud and constantly to the dr about vaccines and other controversial issues that should not be discussed in a medical practice and especially during medical procedures, she was also constantly listing her sons achievements and travel itineraries during the ENTIRE procedure in a stream-of- consciousness cadence and on volume levels where there not one moment for me to say "please stop talking about your successful son" she just kept talking constantly about her sons resume and achievements at full volume DURING THE LIDOCAINE AND ACTUAL MARROW WITHDRAWAL AND I WISHED SHE WOULD JUST STOP TALKING And in the end I wish I didn't have to tell her please don't talk anymore. Later i tried to address it and she told me.....I should've said something, but I didn't know that would have to tell her to not talk about her son the entire time of the procedure-- it was a nightmare....yet she kept going on and on even after they finished the what became a painful procedure from her voice talking constantly--she kept talking on on about her son and how amazing and successful he is . Instead, I would recommend the tall blond nurse---she is awesome! she was quiet, sweet and professional with minimal talking. If you could have the tall blonde nurse totally request her! the other one she just would not stop talking about her son and made it a complete nightmare for some reason she thought I wanted to know every single thing about her son at this point, I learned he was moving to New York City soon, but I actually don't care but she just kept telling me all of her sons achievements. It was so weird. Definitely request the tall blonde nurse she is discreet and hardly says anything, a true professional. The quieter talk, blond actually had some very cool information about her children, but she told me after my procedure not during the middle of it and not in a stream of consciousness pacing with no breaks in between her words. read more

As a active donor I appreciate how attentive the staff are extracting my blood such as asking "how well I doing" and offering things such as snacks and drinks to make sure I'm not hungry or dehydrated. I appreciate the conversations I have with the staff throughout my visits and it makes it personable despite it still being transactional. read more

Is it my imagination or were they playing a good cop / bad cop routine during my intake interview? I'd thought it would be pretty simple - spend 5 hours or so every 1-2 months donating blood, and get $400 each time. The other thing they offer is to take a sample of your bone marrow from a hip bone using a long needle, but unfortunately there is a small risk of permanent pain & nerve damage. With every medicine I confessed to taking, the junior nurse relayed it to the senior nurse, who in a loud voice accused me of having the worst possible underlying condition, which it seemed the blood donation couldn't tolerate but the bone marrow donation could. read more

Canventa is like my home away from home! I have been donating bone marrow and white blood cells for almost 30 years. @Mary Ann- Can that be right? From arranging my appointment to getting my check, every step of the process is pleasant and easy. I would do it even if I didn't get paid. I lost my mother to bone marrow cancer in 1980. providing labs with product on which to do research is a privilege for me. Getting paid is very helpful. I had my first ever bone marrow donation today. I went into it feeling a bit nervous. I would say I have about an average pain tolerance and I was a little nervous that this procedure was going to be painful, however $450 for one hour, I thought why not. I'll deal with it and be a man about it. This procedure was nowhere near as painful as I thought it would be. Uncomfortable, yes. But on a scale of 1-10 the pain level was about a 2-3. I had 2 nurses that did the marrow extraction. One was named Mariann(one of the nicest people you will ever meet) and I believe the other was named Grace. They were both amazing and made the extraction process so much easier by talking to me and keeping my mind off the extraction. I would definitely recommend doing this for some easy money.... $450 to lay down for 30 minutes, doesn't get much easier than that. And the staff there is amazing. Highly recommend. read more

This place seemed nice and clean. However, I was instantly disqualified for having Tourette Syndrome, and the nurse said it's because "we can't be responsible if you start flailing and hit someone when the needle goes in." This is one of two common stereotypes about TS -- that it makes you either flail wildly, or blurt out random profanity. Both are not actually symptoms of this disorder, which involves repetitive motor/vocal tics (read: I have the exact same blinking movements every day that I have had since I was five years old). You don't just "start flailing" all of a sudden or develop new one-off tics. I asked if there was an MD on staff who could clear up the nurse's fundamental misunderstanding of this disorder for us, but she confirmed that they did not have a doctor present, which seemed concerning. And also concerning that a quote "high-end" medical facility like this is going to play into stereotypes about my disorder that I normally only hear repeated on rude TV shows or from teenage boys. Hope you get a chance to crack a book one day. The snacks are okay. read more

If you are curious or tempted in donating bone marrow or blood for money like I was, Canventa made it easy, painless and po$$ible. I tried to find some reviews prior to the procedure and came across a few. My experience was fast, thorough and overall pleasant! From the moment I left my car parked and returned, was a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes. I was a little anxious and the nurse and staff were all extremely sweet, educated and did all possible to ease my nerves and just make it a positive donating experience. The procedure itself was not painful. Begins with a screening, so it's not a one day do it all. So, I would explain the actual act of donating the bone marrow sensation to feel like "pressure" type of feeling rather than saying it is painful. It's a hard feeling to describe, but it is not pain. You are numbed in your lower back and know there are things going on but for me I couldn't quite pin point. The nurse explained what was going on. The nurses were so friendly and really want to know what it is you're feeling during the procedure to minimize any discomfort as much as possible. Any question I had (my brain had a million) was answered. Would definitely do again!! read more
