"Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing…read moresomething. Because that's not true . . . Having a disability doesn't stop me from doing anything." ― Benjamin Snow, Grade 8, in his essay "Attitudes About People with Disabilities" Serving others for nearly 30 years! Living Independence Network Company A.K.A. LINC is a local service agency that cares for people with disabilities, all levels, focusing on ability within their disability and helping them to be as independent as possible. My mother-in-law gets services through this agency and I help her with many of them. Linc is very helpful for families by learning available resources and support. This is the first review of the Caldwell, Idaho office. This is my 435th review. There are many different services that Linc provides and in three cities: Boise, Calwell, and Twin Falls. Some of the services they provide are: Advocacy: Call them if you're experiencing a problem in relation to how you live with your disability. Whether it's a landlord, employer, local business, and the such, Linc will help you by speaking on behalf of you, writing a letter for you, or acting for you. This is a very important part of social work and for people living with disabilities. Independence Living Services: The will help locate housing for you, train you to live independently: budgeting, renting an apartment, working with Health and Welfare and much more! Personal Care Services: They will help you hire, train, and pay employees to help you through the Medicaid program. Help can be cooking, cleaning, hygiene and other quality of life tasks. Transportation: They hell you apply for assistance with transportation such as medical taxi (Medicaid/Medicare pays), and discounted transportation such as taxi and bus passes. Medical equipment loans: That's right... if you need a wheelchair, power chair, crutches, CPAP machine, you can call Linc and they will help you with that. You can borrow these items for as long as you need. They also take donations of these items and many more if you ever hear about them or have some to discard. Lastly, The ramp and rail loan program. According to their website This program provides: Temporary loans of modular, portable, aluminum accessibility ramps for residences averaging 30-90 days. Only requires a fully-refundable deposit of $250 or $450, depending on size and configuration Ensures people with accessibility or mobility issues to maintain their independence and freedom. Even if you're having a family member come to visit that requires a ramp, you can borrow a rail free of charge, just put down the security deposit. Linc has been in the Treasure Valley for nearly 30 years. They have a vast amount of resources available and a database of other resources for yourself and your family. It's important to know what services are available out in the community. You never know who is going to need this knowledge. This review is going into a new "Community Resource" Yelp list which may help our community grow and overall help individuals help themselves move up Maslow's hierarchy toward self-actualization. As for my review-- I am going to post this same review on all three cities because it brings awareness and again, may help someone. The staff has always been friendly. I've dealt with the community nurse several times, they come to the participants home, and are always filled with both compassion and empathy. My brother in law is unable to walk long distances and his mobility scooter took a dump. He was unable to get a new mobility scooter due to lack of funding-- Linc provided him with a "loaner" which he can use for as long as he needs, and he once again has the independence and quality of life that we all deserve, thanks to Linc. FULL DISCLOSURE This…read morereview is for the 208Market that is held in the parking lot at the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho. The 208Market is held every Friday night from 7pm to 11pm. It is collection of small business owners with hispanic goods and foods. It is an amazing event that has a lot to offer everyone. Parking can be tricky but the park across the street is a decent place to park. Vendors can change their space weekly and there are new vendors every week. There is a DJ spinning La Chona and other classics and the vibe is very family friendly.

In addition to being a venue that people can rent for business or personal functions, it's also a little museum. They have a kitchen, a nursery, a computer room with HP computers if someone wanted to do a class there, other classrooms of varying sizes, and larger rooms where people could host something like a wedding reception. They even have a bar. For the museum type, you can walk around and look at artwork on the walls upstairs and downstairs, bright, colorful murals showcasing some classic Mexican themes like loteria, La Virgen de Guadalupe, Selena, and a low rider couple. They also have a room that has some ornate Mexican sombreros, dolls, and more artwork. This would be a great place to take younger kids, or homeschoolers on a field trip, and of course, to rent space from to host a variety of events.

New client when our insurance changed. Took almost 6 months to finally get in for the "Initial…read moreVisit" in which they took x-rays and a visual check. Then another month before we could get in for our cleanings. I will say that the insurance covered everything for those two visits. The dentist did say, in that initial visit, that my teeth really needed a cleaning. I told him yeah, it's been a year and we tried to get in earlier, but, with changing insurances, and their scheduling, it took this long to get in. The girl that cleaned my teeth was pretty awesome. She was extremely good and thorough. Maybe the best cleaning I've ever had done. After our cleanings, we wanted to make our next cleaning appointment, but were told we couldn't do that this early and had to wait and call back in (IIRC) 3 months.... ???? (and it took 6 months to get our first appointment)... OK we'll wait, but is it going to be 6 months after we call, to schedule? About a month after our cleanings, my wife had a tooth fall out on a Thursday evening. She called the next day, twice, and left a message asking for them to return her call. Apparently closed on Fridays, so we waited for a return call on Monday, but the call never came. So she calls again on Tuesday (I believe it was) ... no answer, so she left another message. No call back. We got busy and another two weeks go by and she calls again last week, and leaves a message, because they apparently don't answer the phone, even when they are 'OPEN'. So today we are in town and stop in person. There is no apology and no explanation, for not calling back. And the first available date for her to be seen is in 3 months. My wife and I think that the issue with her tooth should have been visible in the x-rays taken during the initial visit as well. I don't know what the deal is, but the business practices of this facility sucks. Horrible service to get in or when you call. Pretty sure when our insurance comes due in January, we'll be changing to another carrier that another dental provider will accept.

Laura at the front desk is absolutely nasty rude every time we have been in or called!read more
