Reading the reviews I'm baffled but my experience with Canyon Vista has been amazing. Starting with administration and admissions who reached out to me without being pushy to let me know I had a safe place to go when I was ready. I had called them and wasn't quite ready. They followed up with me and I wasn't even a client yet. The care I got while there was amazing. Sure you can watch movies all day or play games if you want to or you can go to the groups that are scheduled IF YOU WANT TO. They aren't going to force you. It's up to you to want what they have to offer. My insurance only covered detox with them but they made sure I had someplace to go when I left. And where I went was awesome and key to my recovery just wish it had been longer. That's not on this place though. I also sent a friend to them recently that I was having a really hard time dealing with and they were once again very patient and kept their doors open for when she was ready. I have another friend about to go in and I'm confident I'm directing them to the right place. The nurses, the bht's, the drs and therapist all were so kind and caring and honest and helpful that I am forever grateful for there help getting me started on this journey. I highly recommend Canyon Vista, but don't go in looking for perfection, look for what you need to be able to help yourself get started on a tough but rewarding path in life. read more

My sister was admitted for alcohol addiction and depression she was there 4 days and fell we were not notified we told them she falls alot they sent her to the hospital never called us cant get any information about it from anyone staff doesn't answer phones what is going on I was told she is in a safe place read more

This facility has very caring staff members that treat you like you are a loved family member. They provide you with exactly what you need to be as comfortable as possible in your time of healing and they attend to you without making you wait and the place is very clean and safe and beautiful! read more

Where do I start! Some of the most unprofessional staff I have ever dealt with,Jeff mocked me and made fun of me while he thought I was on hold bc I was asking how my boyfriend was after having to be taken to the hospital bc they were not equipped to care for someone detoxing. His medicines given were not being recorded. His blood pressure was not being recorded. There was actual patients in the class teaching classes classes were being canceled daily. Very UNSAFE and unprofessional facility!! do not send your loved one here, especially if she is a woman and if you want therapy as I only saw my therapist twice in 30 days and I went there for drninking problem and wanted professional help. We were told there would be a woman's home and a men's house and that the men were not allowed in the Womens and men were not allowed in the Womens house which seemed like COMMON sense. That was clearly not The case !! In fact the ONLY nurses station for ALL 30 clients was in the middle our female home and every single patient was in and out of our house three times a day to get their medication. They need to have a nurses station separate outside of any of the three homes as no one should be coming in and out. There was never a peaceful moment When I addressed the issue they couldn't fill the women's house as they didn't have enough patients and I now know why as no woman was stupid enough to try to go there with how poorly it was run and how unsafe you would feel trying to get treatment in the middle of men also coming off of meth, cocaine, etc. I went there for alcohol, but I know there were kids doing drugs in and out of that place!! they Just kept us three women in an adjoined room and that they filled it with men coming from jail , coming court ordered, and mostly homeless coming off of the streets just wanting a bed to stay at for 30 days with our tax dollars. It was very unsafe and I got to see my therapist two times in the 30 days I was there bc they were "so busy and understaffed" all they did was shove AA down our throat and I have no problem with AA. BUT I was not going there to spend $18,000 in a recovery program where that AA was their only choice of therapy bc I could've just done that for free and stayed in my safe home as I do now!! DO NOT send your loved one or yourself here. my biggest lesson learned was ALWAYS tour the facility and do your research before you ever go someplace because once you're there and if you leave on your own, your insurance will not pay for it as they will say it's "against medical advice". I had to stay the entire time I look at it as now part of my recovery story and journey , but I would never just doing it that way certainly did not get sober with their help. I did it because the place scared the hell out of me and I never want to put in that position ever again was also very gross. They said they had an exercise room and pool on the website so do not believe any of it!!! the thing that scared me the most was how many people were using drugs (stealing their prescriptions up their sleeve from the nurse in front of the nurse as they could care less) the facility drew blood for their patients at our kitchen table instead of in the nurses station, and there were people having sex, etc. while I was at the program and we even had to wear ankle bracelets to monitor people yet they were still getting away with all of that . I brought my son to Canyon Vista and he was only there for about 12 hours before walking out. They charged my HSA account for the hours he was there, which is understandable to say the least! BUT they kept auto charging my account for 4 months! i Have been trying to resolve this and get my money back since June 2022 and still no luck! I cannot even speak to a live person, it's all voicemail and NO ONE calls me back. I have went as far as calling their toll-free number to speak with an intake person named, Eric, and he has tried to help me. Here we are in JAN 2024 and i still cannot get my money back! they are the worst and DO NOT RECCOMEND! if they cant even be decent enough to get this resolved, I can imagine how they treat their patients!? read more

Don't send a loved one here. Got hung up on by my husbands counselor twice, after expressing frustration with trying to get ahold of him for a week. Furthermore he lied to my husband about trying to contact me to set up a family session. Rich is the name of the therapist that treated the situation so unprofessionally. Seriously who hangs up on someone when they've not done their job, and has someone concerned about their clients employment and future. My husband was terminated for going to treatment which is why I've diligently tried to get ahold of his counselor, Rich. He obviously doesn't care about the people at all. His actions are deplorable and he should be fired!!!! read more

If you're going into recovery, this place is not for you! Works can't explain the incompetent levels of no concern. The staff leave you as if you're an animal 3 days no shower! They (staff) would gossip amongst one another the house has male and female as some were coming off pills and other narcotics but house together alcohol treatment. I would believe they would have a diagnosis and / or steps per recovery. It was more like putting a bunch off different types of addicts in a house and letting them all laps and relaps on each other. Please seek attention elsewhere if you really want the genuineness that you need to recover. read more

My boyfriend left Canyon Vista Recovery Center after 3 days of detox. The medical staff informed him that he was "medically safe" to leave, but it would be against medical advice. Four days after he left, he realized he needed treatment and could not manage his addiction on his own. He made the necessary arrangements with his family and employer to take a leave of absence (+30 days) and attempted to check back into their program. He called to arrange his return but was denied because he left against medical advice. Unbelievable. I spoke to Greg, the Clinical Director, for over twenty-minutes attempting to change his mind pleading for help. I could hardly stomach his lack of empathy and compassion. Greg mentioned he did not want to hurt the "integrity" of their facility by readmitting my boyfriend. I am not sure if Greg knows the meaning of "integrity" but I do know that charging $7500 for a three-day stay, doping my BF up on Lorazepam and Trazodone, and then denying care in a crisis situation is NOT integrity it's UNETHICAL. Think twice before you place your loved one or yourself in this facility. You can get help. There are resources out there. Don't make the same mistake we did. read more

My son was just released yesterday after being there for a week of detox plus 60 days. I don't know where to begin. Besides horrible food and allegations of a staff member who made sexual advances, the communication was non-existent. About a week and a half ago my son called me saying he tested positive for Covid and needed to leave immediately. Well, we have a Covid free home over here and I thought it was very irresponsible for them to do this (especially near the end of his treatment and he was doing great. I called the Health Department who said they need to quarantine him. So....they did that. My son, who is 21, asked how they could incorporate treatment, since that's why he was there. They said they would look into Zoom meetings. For one solid week, he had ZERO treatment. He was also told he would be released on 12/17. His case worker was told 12/30. Well..... yesterday morning my son called and said he has to be out today! He said that that's how the insurance covered it. His case worker and I were scrambling to find a sober house for him to move to that day (had to abruptly leave work), and luckily we found something. He never received a completion certificate or anything that showed his success. Instead, it was fire after fire. Fight or flight. His anxiety (and ours) was through the roof. This is not a great thing for someone who is willing and wanting to seek treatment. I will mention, he had a few people that were helpful. He really connected with Jade (thank you) and Ebony. Other than that, the admin is garbage. I've left several messages for the director to call me over the last week and a half. He hasn't reached out once. I left a message for the CEO to call me. That has not happened. read more

Don't listen to these old one star reviews! I just graduated the residential program at Canyon Vista and they have completely new ownership, staff, and counselors! Canyon Vista Recovery Center is an amazing facility with extremely caring and knowledgeable staff. Canyon Vista is a well structured recovery program with a lot of fun activities to do in your free time! The facilities and rooms are cleaned every morning by staff and are very well maintained. When I came to Canyon Vista to change my life and get sober I was greeted with comfort and hospitality. The nurses and staff really do fully care about you and your recovery...they help make your stay through detox/residential feel less like you're at a "rehab" and more so like you're at home. I would recommend Canyon Vista Recovery Center to anyone and everyone.... they gave me my life back and I am forever grateful. read more

Canyon Vista on the outside looks very nice. Their brochure detailing their treatment plan is what appealed to me, however that is not what I got. They seemed to be short staffed, they often don't follow the schedule and I was their 6 days before I was to see the medical doctor and psychiatrist. The inside of the house I was assigned to was furnished cheaply and everything was old. It also was dirty and unsanitary. read more

i am a parent of an adult child who is currently at this facility. i've been trying to get someone to call me to give an update on his progress. i've left more messages than i can count. no one returns my call. i understand the the facility cannot give me details of my sons stay, but not even a call back to acknowledge me?? my son did put my name down as a point of contact. i hate giving negative reviews of places, but this facility left me no choice. i'm so frustrated! if you are looking for an addiction facility to place your loved one. bypass this place immediately! do your research. they may give you great customer service to get u to go in, but once u are there, forget about it. miserable experience! we'll update to this review 2 days later is that i finally got a call back from my son & his "counselor", she said her name is dr lori mcneal. she said she had many years experience in the field of addiction, yet she let my addict son manipulate her into thinking he was ready to face the world sober. she took my sons side & said he's ready to come home. she made it sound like he was cured now. she said that he's done all the work & has been a mentor to the others at the facility. (he was only there for 2 weeks). i asked her if she thought he should go to a sober living facility from the rehab. she adamantly said "no". my son is an adult & can make his own decisions. then she proceeded to ask me what i was going to do for my son when he gets home. like she thought i should throw him a party or something? to make a long story short, this woman sounded like she got her counseling certificate from a cracker jack box! i would advise anyone going to this facility to stay clear of this lunatic. my son manipulated the hell out of this woman just as addicts do just to appease people. a knowledgeable counselor/therapist should know this. he came back to my home today & went straight to the liquor store. he's currently drunk off his ass right now in my living room! my son has been to numerous rehabs & a reputable rehab always likes to get the addicts family involved if at all possible & will recommend the addict don't come back to home straight from rehab but to some a sober living facility or some sort of intensive treatment program. not this place. they were done squeezing money from his insurance plan & were done with him. despicable! i hope "dr lori" is proud of herself. read more

My family member was admitted to Detox; there is no individualized treatment plan- no matter what substance(s), it's 7 days with no communication allowed. There is a lack of programming- unless you consider playing cornhole programming or falling asleep on the couch watching a movie. They are just milking insurance for detox as it pays more. Spoke with the DON, Justin, who argues that detox doesn't start until day 4 for alcohol-what a load of crap. Once a patient is medically cleared they should be able to move to residential when ready. Also, called several numbers and no one answers- had to go through admissions. Asked for name of medical director and denied information several times. Asked for CEO to call me- nope. Asked for therapist to call me, nope. Their attorney called and asked for communication- nope. Once admitted, you are dark for 7 days. After advocating, was allowed to call work supervisor. Residential: Finally got to make a time limited phone call on house phone. Said there is programming until around 2 pm and the evenings are rough. Said counselor, Jade, is awesome. Food sounds unhealthy unless you're into eggs and cheese (cheap food). read more

The intake was great but the recovery is very bad. Their is 2 living quarters at the facility

False positive on a drug test. Wouldn't let me take another test even though they let someone who tested positive for the same EXACT thing took 3 tests to prove he was negative. I begged to take the test on the same day i found out the results but nothing was done. Never got to see the actual physical results of the drug test either. I'm on suboxone maintenance but somehow tested positive for opiates but i attended every group, and was very social. I NEVER and would NEVER willingly have my mom take me to a center at 19 years old if i wanted to continue using. one of the worst things that's happened to me and my family. FURTHER ACTIONS WILL TAKEN. Also head of staff Kory shouldn't work at a rehab facility if she treats the patients like shit. SO sketchy. Ruined my recovery for something i never did, been crying all day. i'm not a complainer but i put my all into this program and they betrayed all of my trust. if you're young and pretty pick a different rehab. read more

My son recently participated in the addiction recovery program at Canyon Vista. He spent several months in the program and is now on a healthy road utilizing after-care resources to stay on track (AA, IOP and sober living). My son felt comfortable and very supported at Canyon Vista. He learned about his disease, self-love and tools for maintaining ongoing sobriety one day at a time. Parents are provided support and valuable, much needed education about addiction, as well. The Canyon Vista staff including Director, Brenda Young, counselors, instructors, nurses, and health aides are knowledgeable, efficient and above all kind and caring. We feel blessed and are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. read more
