Things started going downhill when they moved to the Winners Circle location. It was almost like they'd become too big to be the polite and helpful credit union they'd always been. It only got worse with the merger. I will say that I've always had good experiences, even now, with tellers, but anyone else? Nope. Rude, short attention span, and take the first opportunity to get out of the conversation. Case in point. I went there to talk to someone about a loan. I went to the "service desk" which always used to be helpful. The woman first told me she didn't know what I was asking about, then told me I couldn't see them, then contacted the loan officer how said they would not come down to see me. I insisted and they eventually came down, only to be rude, not answer my question and tell me to call next time. This is a place I used to rave about. Not anymore. To use a silly old saying, "They've gotten to big for their breeches." And people leaving reviews, it is Credit Union, NOT a Bank. read more

Since the merge with the two credit unions Ive had nothing but issues with my accounts. Fraud issues, etc. The last one was I disputed a charge on my visa. After calling and telling them I can see the withdraw pending and to please stop it they said it has to go through completely. I can't understand why they couldn't block it right there. So as requested I filled out multiple forms and received a response saying I have to print out the forms and fax them over or mail them! so many forms We are retired, who has a fax machine in their house and if they received the paperwork why don't they print it out I have to find another credit union read more

I have used CAPCOM most of my life, before then, I used Excelsior Credit Union, which was absorbed by CAPCOM. I have had nothing but great experiences with this bank. I have used them to finance my first car, finance my student loans, and finance my first house. I must add - I used Jessica Brate as my mortgage officer and she was amazing! I didn't use a real estate agent at all, but she walked me through it all and helped me find a good lawyer, all in all, I couldn't have done it without her. I have never had a fee for anything. I have my account set up to pull any checking overdrafts from my savings, and it just charges me $2. This comes in handy sometimes! I do wish they had some longer hours - but their ATM makes up for it. I can do cash and check deposits from there, withdraw, transfer - all free of charge. The also have a very clean and easy to use app for on-the-go banking. I would recommend this credit union to anyone! read more

Having only had an account for 6 months, I was surprised to find out 2yrs+ later that they gave me a black mark. When I called to find out why, they could not give me a sufficient explanation. NOT DUE TO THE RECENT MERGER, she had all the files there. No notice, no explanation, no reason why. Hope it improves after the merger but I'm sure that will take time to sort itself out. For so long I used Bank of America and you're just $$$ to them. They can destroy you on overdrafts and it' got to be out of control. I was advised to try Cap Com. It's a totally different experience. They work with you and help you with everything. It's not a bank, it's a credit union. My credit was not good and they helped me and my credit scores went up. I was able to get a loan and purchase a car at a decent interest rate. I highly recommend to leave the banks and switch to a credit union. You'll thank me later lol read more

CAP COM Federal Credit Union - My new car thanks to Cap Com - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Albany, New York

I am a treasurer for a local non-profit and they chose to do their banking through Cap Com. Admittedly, most banks are pretty much the same: you give them money, you take your money out, you log online to make sure you have money, and occasionally you fill out paperwork. I have been here multiple times for deposits and I don't like their hours. Weekdays are 8:30 - 4:30, which means I can't go before work or get here after work before they close. Weekends are worse, as on Saturdays they close at 12:30PM. Much of my banking requires in-person deposits, so whenever I need to get here I must commit to doing it on Saturday mornings. But, such is how it goes. What I hate about this place is that I have thrice come here to set up new accounts with our group and each time wasted over an hour with nothing to show for it. I met with three different managers, specialists, or whatever they call the people who are supposed to help you and each time they took forever to look up on their computers the forms I needed, call other branches for help, call in other people for advice, and then hand me forms to fill out. Each time I came back a week later to find a new person at the desk and was told the previous person was mistaken and I needed new forms filled out (or, heaven help me, sometimes they would bumble around confused for 30 minutes and call people, talk to people, etc. before telling me I needed new forms). After three trips, we went to the branch in Malta and they took care of us right away. On the "plus" side, the regular tellers are friendly. They have coffee machines (though I don't drink coffee), a special area for kids to play, and a small built in fish aquarium. Since it is hard to find a time to get in to do my business, and even harder to find someone knowledgeable enough to assist me with complex banking paperwork when I can make it in, I am rating it 2 stars. But, if you are able to make it during the week and just need to make regular deposits you could probably add a star or two. read more

I have been banking with CapCom for about 20 years now. In the last 3 months, they have negatived my account over $6000, causing me to bounce a check, rejected several online deposits, and refused to take accountability for their mistakes. Mergers are painful. I will give them a couple of months to sort their stuff out. If they don't get their act together, I will pull all of my accounts from here and go elsewhere. I cannot continue to spend hours checking up on my bank who cannot add 1+1 to make 2. It took 3 phone calls and a Supervisor to get the $6000 back into my account, and they STILL didn't believe me!! Cap Com sold me disability insurance for my loan with them. Shortly after I needed knee surgery so I put in a claim thinking I'm glad I purchased the insurance. The claim was denied and they called it a pre existing condition along with the fine print that said you couldn't put in a claim for fist 6 months of the loan. Well that's shifty to say the least. If you do get a loan from capcom refuse the insurance. They actually told me they wouldn't approve the loan if I didn't purchase it. I've since contacted Sunmark and they helped pay off the loan with better terms and no insurance needed. read more

I have been a member since CAP CAP first opened up over 40 years ago, and I have never had so many problems with bank over drafts and fees, and trying to verify I'm the account holder, etc. This has been the most difficult and inconvenient banking experience ever. And guess what, most of them have worked for banks and hated it! I have had them tell us what a pleasure it is to work for a financial institution that puts the customer first, treats their employees like humans and just all around care! Oya....what a concept! My husband and I have been with this credit union for over 25 years and can say when we walk into our branch...or any other branch we are greeted with a smile and "how may we help you", "would you like a cup tea or coffee" , "no problem, we can help". We were with a "bank" for 15 years and they barley knew us. When we need help they said "sorry can't help you" .....after 15 years! We found Capcom and couldn't believe how wonderful it was to people who care about you! We also have a home in PA and we belong to a credit union down there that has the same ethics as our credit here....amazing! Banks are to stuck on themselves, and to be human and try to help us is not in there DNA. My husband and I have been members for years and have been happy with the bank. However, when his card information was stolen and almost a thousand dollars of fraudulent charges were posted to the account, their fraud team was awful. After reporting the incident, the woman we spoke with neglected to close the account or dispute the fraudulent charges after assuring us she had. Another charge went through hours later and when we called back, were informed no action had been taken to close the account. We frequently have actual charges we've made canceled by the bank because they think they're fraud, but the one time there is actual fraud, they do nothing. read more

Cap Com has always been a helpful bank. But they have been a bit of a nightmare to work with to get approved for a mortgage. The person we've been working with told us he would get some documentation to us that night. It's now been over two weeks, and we are still without the documents. We needed to get this information to our realtor. We've reached out to the individual multiple times, informed him we still haven't received anything, and requested he send it again. If these documents needed two weeks, it would have been fine. But to tell us that we will receive them that night, and then not keep your word shows a lack of professionalism. If this doesn't get resolved, it looks like we will need to take our business elsewhere. read more

prefer business banks (not really a credit union kinda guy)...and have been a trustco customer for DECADES. that said, i have bought three homes with trustco mortgages, fully paid each of them off...and think that trustco does a generally good job with home loans. in recently purchasing a NEW condo in latham...i found a ridiculously low 2.65% 10/1 ARM with CapCom...and was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism they and their mortgage company (homeowner's advantage) provided. the bank itself has an 'at-home' feeling to it...coffee, soft drinks, wifi, daily newspapers and work stations are all available to their customers. the folks who work there are genuine, service oriented and really seem to want to be of assistance. my family has had banking relationships with TOO MANY local banks. i have been in branches of BOA, first niagara, citizens, pioneer, berkshire, SEFCU, and of course trustco. NONE OF THEM can compare with the decorum of this financial institution. considering a NEW bank, as i am? take a close look at CapCom. great rates, more than competitive interest on savings/investment options, free ATMs, great people, and an online presence that puts trustco online banking to shame. i'm going to CapCom...come join me. read more

Your customer service SUCKS. I have been with your bank for over 10 years and honestly, I've never dealt with people who literally don't care about their customers the way they used to. Capcom used to be amazing cause you could call or walk in, people know who you are and when you call everyone is so friendly...NOW, Now I can't even call without having anxiety because every person I speak to is basically like, that's your problem, just read what our regulations are, you should know better, you sure you didn't make this purchase, I had one guy call me a liar because he felt that I used my card when it was clearly compromised I told him I didn't he told me, goodluck proving when we take the money back (After reimbursing me) trying to prove you didn't do it. Like wtf capcom. I have been with you for over 10 years and your customer service is AWFUL. Chase bank is better and that says a lot cause what credit unions provide is completely different than banks. The employee Rebecca was very rude to me when telling me that it was my fault that I didn't stop my direct deposit even though my loan was paid off. I called Thursday to tell them we are doing a 10 day payoff and the Loan will be paid. I spoke to the manager Alison today June 6th and she was no help at all they charged me a $25 wire fee even though it was not my fault and the other option was to send my mail however if I did that I would get charged by my bank an over draft fee. I have been with this company for years and I don't even live in NewYork. I am very upset with the way both of these ladies handled it and was very shocked because most of the people that work there are nice. I recently needed to get the status of some cashed checks on my account.The young man, Gyasi at the Winners Circle location was so helpful and even though it took over 20 minutes or more to find the info he stayed professional and persistent in getting me the info,plus they had enough tellers staffed so the lines didn't get backed up . After being a capcom member for 10 YEARS I was given the run around with my auto loan. I financed my car through capcom when I was talked into the GAP coverage in case I totaled my car and owed more then the insurance covered. Unfortunately four months later my car was totaled, i owed $594 of my car loan and was told my deductible would NOT be covered after three separate individuals said it would be. Two weeks after they said they would submit the claim to the gap insurance company I still had NOT heard from anyone and had to call. They had received a check for $40 from the gap coverage yet could not tell me why the other $54 wasn't covered. They just kept stating "because the gap insurance only covers the $40" after asking to speak to a manager I was given the same line. I also tried asking why I was obligated to make two car payments after the total and that I wanted the money back when the manager said "I can't do that". NEVER AGAIN WILL I BANK WITH THIS COMPANY. My claim is just now closing almost TWO MONTHS after my accident. I am now closing my capcom account, and so is the rest of my family. The staff I spoke with were unprofessional, rude and made it obvious they could care less about what I was saying. read more
