After that we were public enemy number 1 bc the front desk was very accusatory and flat out weird towards us. We chose a pull through site which makes life easier for us to setup. This park have full hookups for all your needs and kid/family friendly. Amenities they had were washers/dryers, bathrooms with showers, playground, easy accessible parking lot for guests, clubhouse, and excellent customer service. Also if you dont have a Trailer/RV, looks like they also have cabins they rent out so be sure to ask. This park is clean and one of the prettiest RV Parks we've been to. We will be coming back and staying every time we go to Whidbey Island.

This RV park is right across the street from the wonderful Deception Pass State Park, with its…read morecrazy-scenic bridge, beaches, hiking trails, and lakes. At the State Park's West Beach area, you can be strolling on a sandy/rocky saltwater beach and then literally 1 minute later, you can be swimming (or fishing) in a freshwater lake. It's the weirdest, coolest thing! We saw seals, Bald Eagles, Merganzers, and an 800-year-old Douglas Fir tree on a single short hike here. We're hoping to see the beavers they say like to live in Cranberry Lake one of these days, but they've been elusive so far. The State Park has campsites, but it's more for rustic camping, not a great RV park. There are two small towns (Anacortes and Oak Harbor) 10 miles away that offer shopping (Safeway, Walmart, Home Depot, fast food, etc.), but it still feels rural. There's a marina down the road a little way, and there are whale-watching boat tours nearby. This RV park is well-kept and tidy. I saw someone on some review or other complaining (and that and a couple other petty complaints are what inspired me to write ~this~ review, as I don't write many of them, and this is my first on Yelp) about the park's brown grass, and I had to laugh. Did they not know grass doesn't stay green in the height of summer--especially during a drought? If that's all they had to complain about with this place, I'd say they're doing pretty well. LOL The bathrooms are clean, there's a fenced dog park, and they sell propane, firewood, and ice at the office. The office staff are very friendly and welcoming, too. They meet visitors outside with clipboards in hand when it's busy, so that drivers don't even need to step outside their rigs. Most of the spaces aren't huge, but from what I could see, there's only one very small area where they're a little squished, in this area that's at the center of a wheel shape, where the spaces are the wheel's spokes, but it's not like you're on top of each other, and it's not a big deal IMHO. There aren't that many trees, but I'd rather not have any around my rig, actually, and it stays blessedly cool here even in summer, so lack of shade really isn't an issue anyway. The park has a large gazebo and a small club house space that groups can reserve. And it's right across the street from where the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail crosses through. A 15 minute hike into the forest along that trail made me feel like I was in Middle Earth. So beautiful! We haven't fished in years, but we saw people fishing in the fresh-water lakes. One's a 5 minute walk away. And there are tide pools in the State Park, too, though that's a couple miles from the RV park, and not a place I want to walk to, as the main road that runs up and down Whidbey Island, State Road 20, can be pretty busy and narrow in that section. But in 5 minutes you can also walk out of the park, cross that road (there's a light with a crosswalk signal) and be in the State Park on a beautiful trail beside a lake with huge trees towering overhead and with the noise of the road forgotten. The Cranberry Lake trail leads you parallel to the lake and through the forest down to West Beach and a dune nature trail with interpretive signage. It's about a 3.8 mile walk round trip, and at the half-way point, there's a State Park camp store where you can get a drink and snack in summer and take a rest. I must say, though, that my favorite time to visit this place is in winter (We love it there so much that we've been there in all four seasons!). There's something so atmospheric about the gray cloud cover and the fog and the wildness of the sea. The hikes are just gorgeous then. There's just something about it, and I love it. If you run out of things to do nearby (HA!), you can take a short drive to visit the truly-charming towns of Langley, Coupeville (where "Practical Magic" was filmed), Mt. Vernon, or LaConner. There's a GREAT food co-op in Mt. Vernon that has amazing produce and gifts and a hot-food deli. It's like a mini Whole Foods. In any of these little towns, you can get an ice cream cone and stroll down old-fashioned downtown areas and window shop and people-watch. And in Langley, you may even spot a whale! The one bad thing I can say about this park is that there's sometimes noise from the navy jets that fly out of NAS Whidbey, which is maybe 5 miles away. That can get pretty loud during some weekdays, but the weekends are almost always no-fly times, and they have free earplugs in the office, if you need them to sleep. I just wore my noise canceling earphones and I was fine. There's also some noise from the two-lane road nearby, especially at rush hours or on busy summer weekends. But when visiting a beautiful place like this, who hangs out in their RV all the time anyway? Anyway...If you can't tell, I really love this place. It's definitely a well-deserved 5-star rating from us.

Scott was there to greet us, helped us set up, even assisted with needs we had after getting there such as firewood, etc and was beyond helpful. The glamping site itself was super clean, well prepped with everything we needed, comfortable, yet did not take away at all from the true camping experience one bit. My dad is an avid camper and we grew up camping in a similar fashion and our set up was close to this, only we had plush beds, a dresser, local artwork in our tents, and the convenience of not having to bring much gear. We glamped in site 6 which included 2 tents and was able to sleep four. They do an amazing job and for the $, you get a lot. They provide all the things you'd get in a hotel room (maybe more) except in a wilderness setting. But here's something I loved... they also do frequent routine checks on your site to ensure you're comfortable, have any questions or need anything. You can simply communicate via your mailbox and they will not bother you otherwise. It's the cutest thing ever. This was my daughters first time camping (ages 3 and 5) and we wanted to ease them into camping, and I have a feeling, we'll never do it any other way. My only hope is that Leanto continues to a) expand so that we can continue going to new places b) one day allow dogs. While I gave Leanto 5 stars because this was the most perfect camping trip ever, my husband probably would have minused half a star for us having to leave our furbaby at home.

All you have to do is show up :) the campsite is also 5/5. Clean bathrooms and showers and lots of drinking water around. The whole thing costed us $250 for 4 people. Our campsite was right along the edge next to the beach, it overlooked the whole bay. You'll need to get there early in order to dock your boat. We beached it on nights two and three because it got so crowded. Fire pits for your campfires and plenty of firewood from the forest and drift wood from the beach. Lots of seashells, but not many starfish or marine life. An occasional seal or sea otter swimming around. Lots of birds, eagles, a goldfinch, and a pileated woodpecker. The bathrooms were great, compostable toilets, nice tile floors, and windows to look out from. Nice and clean. A ranger even stopped by to clean them while we were there for four days. It's a short hike from the bay to raccoon island campground. Loved the campground, would highly recommend to come during the week !

I'll admit it, I was flattered when the State of Washington approached about naming their next park…read moreafter me. Humbled, I declined their generous proposition. Well, apparently they found an alternative Jones after which to name their island. Reachable only by watercraft, Jones is a true gem of the beautiful San Juans. I've been there twice now for day trips, but I'd love to set up camp there for a week or more of sheer PNW bliss. This rustic isle features tent sites and even some pre-built shelters in case you forgot to stop at REI on the way. There are pit toilets and trails as well. And the views across beaches and waterways...well they're just magical. If I ever actually buy a boat, Jones will be my first stop. Even if it's not technically named after me.

Beautiful spot on Orcas Island -- peaceful, unique, and worth the visit…read more Leona at the front desk was absolutely wonderful, truly a blessing and such a welcoming presence from the moment we arrived. The hot springs are my favorite part and the main reason I came back. My friends and I booked a private soak ($150 for 1.5 hours), which was well worth it. If you stay overnight, you can also do a group soak for $20. The hot springs are clothing optional, and during the group soak most people were nude. It was a bit crowded, but still fun and a memorable experience -- especially if you're open to something new. The room itself was a little cold, but thankfully it had a wood-fired stove (and one of us actually knew how to use it). Beds were comfy, and the bathrooms are a short walk away since they aren't in the rooms. Overall, such a special place -- I'd definitely come back again.

Loved the hot tubs and sauna, and the communal fire pits and outdoor lounge areas. The cafe offerings were delicious, love that it's walkable from your lodging. There are really no words to describe how amazing it is to live a mere half-hour boat ride from…read morethis tiny little island state park where you can drop an anchor in its secluded harbor, find a waterfront campsite, and spend the weekend patting yourself on the back for how damn lucky you are to live here. Patos is one of the smaller of the public islands in the San Juans, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in stunning sunsets and beautiful, easy-to-access beaches full of driftwood and tide pools. The level path around the island can be easily walked in well under an hour, and there's a quaint, historic lighthouse you can tour when it's open on weekends. There are even pit toilets in a couple of spots around the island, and each campsite features a picnic table and fire ring for the low-low price of $12/night. What the island doesn't have is running water of any kind, so be sure to come prepared.

One of my favorite camping islands in the San Juans…read more The main camping area is located at the west end of the island near the cove between Patos island and Little Patos island. At the east end of the island there are a couple of small coves that you can anchor in, but there are no campsites on the east end of the island. I have been coming to Patos Island for over 20 years, and it has changed very little in that time. Sure they have installed new vault toilets that are much nicer than the old ones, and the old dock that was quite unstable has been torn down. The old military barracks that were out by the lighthouse have been removed, and the lighthouse has been opened up for tours now. Besides that the camp sites and general feel of the island is the same. The only way to get to this island is by boat, there are no houses (besides the lighthouse) on the island, no roads, no cars, and no running water. This island has quite a history, much of that is covered in a book called The Light On The Island which is an great read if you are visiting the island. The book was written in the 1950's by the daughter of the lighthouse keeper who lived there from 1905 to 1930. The harbor between Patos island and Little Patos can be a challenge to anchor in (I haven't had a problem but I have seen others have trouble). There are 2 buoys that you can pay a fee to tie up to, or you can drop your own anchor. As the tide comes and goes, the current can get quite strong closer to beach area by the campsites. On more than one occasion I have seen someone anchor close to the beach with a rope running to shore tied to a tree or log. Not such a good idea because people who do that usually end up with their boat on the beach when the tide goes out. The harbor is very shallow at low tide, 4 to 5 feet deep in many areas, but as you get out towards the anchoring buoys it gets deeper. From the campground you can see a variety of wildlife, some amazing eagles, or annoying wasps and yellow jackets. One night while camping we awoke to Orcas splashing in the water right next to the campsite. You may occasionally spot a river otter in the bay, or porpoise off shore. Be sure to take the short walk to the lighthouse, it can be amazing at sunset. As you approach the lighthouse in the large grassy field, you may notice some cement footings from old buildings, the ones right near the cement Patos Island sign are the footings from the original lighthouse keepers house which burnt down years ago. Any cement footings at the edge of the grassy field by the trees are of the old military barracks that where on the island. Scuba diving is amazing along the south side of the island, with amazing sea life to be seen. Beware of the currents, it can get a bit strong, but if you are up for a drift dive with a live boat, it can be an amazing ride. Keep in mind that there is no running water on the island so you need to bring fresh water with you. The closest place to refill if you need more water is on Sucia island.
