Back again to this remote campground 7 years later, this time in an RV. Sites have water and electric, and can be reserved through ReserveAmerica. I recommend reserving in advance. Although some sites were available, campers without reservations had to change sites in order to stay more than one night. And on a Saturday in June, the campground was completely full, even though the weather was less than ideal. In addition to campsites, there are a couple of small cabins here that can be rented. The sites are spacious and private. We walked from our site down to the beach, but it is a bit of a hike; so the next time we drove down the narrow road to the parking area. Cars are allowed to drive onto the sand, but the road down is rough, so you best be driving a high-clearance vehicle if you want to drive on the beach. With so many campgrounds situated near highways, or train tracks, the quiet at this campground was so welcome. While you are here, make sure to visit the Camp Blanco lighthouse and the Historic Hughes House. read more

We camped here during "June Gloom ". It is cold and winds can be punishing on hike to light house. Nevertheless the camp is clean and the forest is enchanting. Glad we are privileged to enjoy this state park! I recommend this camp and as summer approaches it is destined to become even more inviting! Don't miss it. read more

Fantastic rock formations, no soft sand so easy to walk, access from parking at state park road is by stairs ~127! but worth it. Can be buggie if no wind. Check tides as water comes to base of stairs when in. read more

We have not stayed in the park but we have walked around portions of it. We enjoy camping it's not something that we have done yet since we moved to the area. read more

What a stunning campground! Sites are clean and large, also surrounded by trees. The bathrooms were immaculate. There is a great trail to the beach, and the sunsets are stunning. Camp host and volunteer are very nice! I'd love to stay here again! read more

Actually a pretty great campground. Many sites are quite long all back in but electric and water at sites no sewer. Sites are quite private. Whole campground area is very dense with trees One star off because they don't have a dump station. Something about it being old and in need of repair and special soil so it will be very expensive to repair Site with water and electric $24 Nice bathhouse. This review is for the trails, beach and cabins. Cape Blanco State Park is about 5 miles west of Hwy 101 along the coast. We stayed in Eagle Cabin and it was really cozy. I highly recommend them for $39/nt. Can't beat it. They are sparsely equipped but clean and easier than tent-camping. The yurt has a bunk bed (single on top and bottom) and a double bed. There is electricity, which means you have one overhead flourescent light, a porch light, a heater, and an elec outlet with two plugs.There is also a small table. The cabins have (four?) windows that open, one of each side of the cabin which provides a great breeze. Our cabin was secluded, which seems to be the norm for all the cabins there as far as I can tell. The host said that Eagle cabin used to have the best view of the ocean, but the plants have grown up so the next cabin has the best view now (on site 37). There are bushes in between the cabins which provide nice privacy. In order to get to the beach, you walk along the campground road, down a steep-ish road. The beach is a wide open space. It's nice and relaxing. There are many logs that were washed up on shore but they were so far back along the cliffs that you can walk along the beach barefoot and stroll your heart away. It's a neat place to explore with a youngster. Lots of birds (pelicans for one). :) Great photo ops. The bathrooms are placed in the middle of the campground and are a little walk away along a dirt trail; there's a paved trail as well, but it's a little farther walk from the cabins. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. There is a separate room for showering, which is free. I think there were four stalls. The showers themselves were clean, but the shower heads were not adjustable, meaning you can't angle them how you want, or turn the nozzle so it's a mist versus a stream. I was actually freezing in the shower because the mist didn't provide enough water for me to get warm. I only showered there once because of that. :\ Cape Blanco Lighthouse is a short drive away, or you could walk it. It's a must-see. It's beautiful and well-run. There's also Hughes House which provides tours, but we didn't go there. We were there mid-July and apparently we lucked out in terms of weather. It was foggy one day and clear the next, but there was no wind whatsoever. Apparently, the weather during the year, according to the lighthouse volunteer, is wet & windy, clear & windy, cloudy & windy... you get the picture. I want to mention the host there. He was such a NICE guy. He was from Biggs, CA and was just a real nice fellow. :) He had a little rescue dog that was a skittish thing until he adopted her. She's so well-adjusted now. Cape Blanco is definitely a 5 star experience. But, you must be ready for very strong cold winds, fog and clouds as well as moments of warmth, quiet and sun. You can easily have all of this in a morning. Cape Blanco is very special and off the beaten path. read more

Was able to stay a night at this gorgeous campground. Nice gem in southern OR coast. Usually don't venture this far south as we're usually visiting Portland and northern OR coast. Beach was amazing and not a soul on it as we had it to ourselves. Also was able to get last minute cabin which up north is usually booked months ahead. read more

We camped in our tent at Cape Blanco and really enjoyed our stay. Our site was nestled in the woods, about 50 feet from steep cliffs overlooking the waves crashing on the Pacific. Coastal winds bring the salty smell of the sea right into your camp. Beautiful hikes around the campgrounds, including one down to the beach and another across of tops of the cliffs to the scenic lighthouse. I suggest picking up some kindling or a pack of firewood from a hardware store before you reach the park. The wood we bought from the host, at a reasonable price of $5 for a bundle, was wet and did not burn well. For only $16 a night, you really can't find a more beautiful, well-managed, clean place to camp. read more

This place was very beautiful. It was the perfect beautiful camping night there last Friday. The beach had no wind and I watched a beautiful sunset there. Nothing but GREAT praise for this park and the people who host. The park Rangers do a fabulous job as well. All of the people who work and volunteer at Cape Blanco are dedicated, helpful, and do thankless work all day to keep the park in top shape. Lots of hikes, great paths to the beach. The lighthouse tour is worth it. It does get windy some days, but it's a fresh air wind. Quiet, peaceful, and one of the few Oregon state parks that are first come, first served, no reservations. If I could recommend one thing, I would suggest a speed hill or bump installed near the 10 mph sign; as a hiker I have been intimated by the trucks with trailers jamming by me going faster than the 10 mph speed limit. I had a great time here!! The volunteers were so friendly and helpful! It was super clean and very well maintained. Showers were HOT (which is always nice after a few days of traveling). It is absolutely beautiful, right along the coast. There is a beach trail and a lighthouse to explore. read more

5 miles off 101 - easy access in our 40'MF. Views are among the best at cliff side lighthouse & beach access easy for pickup or high clearance vehicle - allows drive onto beach. Campground is first come but campsite are private. Baths and showers clean - located in direct center of campground so everyone gets to walk - no parking nearby. Still very nice and stay if you can find a spot. I was able to find slot in trees for mobile satellite- lucky I guess. Nice access also near house for river fishing near ocean outlet - trout & salmon. read more

Parks provide what you seek from them. This place isn't everyone's cup if tea. The winds can howl through like a fleet of run away trains and it can feel down right cold when it's 105 in the Valley. In other words, damn unique. We have fallen in love with this outcrop about as far west as one will get for most people. Camping under huge, solid spruce Great accessible from the campground beach and upland coastal trails. Historic Hughes house a walk away l and Poet Orford close for provisions. Give this spot a try if up for it. read more

Hey California Park System?!?! Get your act together. I love that all of the glowing reviews here are from CA people- Ha! I'd be thrilled if my CA camping experiences were half as nice as what I experienced in Oregon. I almost hate to post this and share a hidden treasure. But, if you like crazy coastal wind, fog, sun, haze, mist, wind, fog, clouds, sun - then this is paradise. MK had a good review which summarized info nicely. The cabins are wonderful for the price. I stayed at California's Patrick Point State Beach the night before driving up 101 and paid $35 for a parking spot, firepit & bear box. For $4 more and a few hours drive, you get a roof, floors, heater, windows with screens, water right outside the door and 2 electrical plug ins with a RV style foam beds. Basic, yet wonderful. The campsites overall are mostly private, all with water and power. The camp hosts were really nice too. Wood is $5 and they give you little carts to haul it away and bring back. There are plenty of trash cans and even recycling. I was good about picking up my dogs-doo and even picked up some piles that weren't hers. I figure we dog people need to leave good impressions - not pooh impressions (hint- dog people pick up your %$#@). Overall the campground is centrally located to a lot of activities within 30 minutes drive . You can head south and hike Humbug Mountain, check out the Port Orford Headlands and lifeboat museum, walk the Cape Blanco Beaches on either side of the headlands, hike to Blacklock Point, hike around the Hughes house and Sixes river. The options are endless and the Oregon coastal trails are DOG FRIENDLY unlike lame-o California. I walked around well marked trails for endless hours and was lucky to have decent sunny (albeit windy) weather. On the drive in to Cape Blanco don't forget to stop at Lees Bees Honey if you see the gate open (and large sign that says "HONEY"-- the dark amber wildflower and meadowfoam is some of the best honey I have ever tasted, and I always buy local honey when I travel. read more

Awesome camping! Cost $22 and included showers and electricity. We did tent camping. We stayed in spot A25 and were able to nestle under a cool mossy tree. There was plenty of room and privacy between the sites. The bathrooms were spotless, as were the showers. Larry was the camp host at the time- he was very kind and informative. I would recommend this campground to anyone. Just make sure to bring food with you as there aren't many stores or restaurants for miles, either direction. read more

We have a huge tent and the campground spots are nice and deep and very private which is very nice. It's peaceful and lots of little trails to walk on around the campground. There are nice hot showers that are free, super clean, and very private stalls. You can hear the ocean and the breeze through the trees. We loved this spot. Lots of little bunnies and squirrels all around. read more

Surprise, What a nice place to stay. I had already booked my other parks. I wish I would have planed on staying longer. The park was very clean, level parking paved driveways. In addition we had a very cute little visitor come to our door with a welcome basket. What a great touch. I will stay here again next year when we come down south. read more

We stayed at Cape Blanco for the 2nd time last week. You definitely have to time your arrival to snag a great spot but every campsite is large and private so it doesn't matter too much! You can either get a spot nestled in the shrubs or next to a trail with a slight ocean view. Either one is pleasant! We loved how quite this campground was! The RV dump is permanently closed so we used the RV dumps at Humbug and Bullards Beach State parks. The bathrooms with hot showers were well maintained. We are already planning next year's trip! read more
