The Cape and Islands Democratic Council's Annual Kennedy Legacy dinner honoring our dear friend as Democrat of the year with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition presented by US Representative Bill Keating provided the showcase for probably the worst meal I've had in a very long time. From 12 o'clock: Stringy, dry braised beef 'short ribs', very dry rice pilaf with a spoon of the beef sauce to moisten it up a little, flavorless, unseasoned butternut squash ravioli in browned butter with pepitas, exceedingly dry, unseasoned salmon with no sauce, gummy, pasty chicken part with a gluey, tasteless sauce and very tasty glazed carrots. The salt shaker did a lot of work on this meal. The crême brulée was nice. The room's ambiance was cold and sterile with no discernable decor. The podium on the riser was visible scratched, nicked and dinged. There was one bartender for 150+ guests and they were apparently short staffed. P.S. If you're planning an event there, beware. The food, service, and ambiance there sucks (in my personal, and formerly professional opinion). read more

I was here for a two day conference. Given what I experienced, I would not book this hotel for a vacation getaway. For what it needed to be for this conference- it sufficed. I know this hotel has been undergoing changes and renovation so I will keep my eye on the reviews to see if anything improves. The good- the food. Lunch, dinner and breakfast were all buffet were to my surprise was pretty good. I had limited interactions with the staff so cannot comment there. I will say we had a fire alarm go off (I get it), and we were told although the firefighters couldn't find the source, they (the hotel) would keep an extra eye on things and be diligent in our wing. Fifteen minutes later- the alarm in my room started chriping (assumed it was the battery). Called the front desk from the room phone 3 times over 15 minutes- no answer. Called the main number of the hotel from my cell phone and the front desk picked up. They sent maintenance, who stood on the vanity bench from the bathroom to reach the ceiling and change it. In contrast, one of the other room (I was a chaperone for a large group)- their maintenance person put a plastic bag and duct tape over the fire alarm. The bed was comfortable. While our shower was clean, two of the other rooms had bugs in the shower. One room had yellow water from the faucet. At this point it was very late so we had the kids shower in other rooms. Our shower had the overspray on the wall tiles from when they repainted the bathtub. Floors are worn and dust and dirt under the bed. No screens on the sliding door. Two bottles of cheap shampoo and one bar of soap were given - Luckily I brought my own. Now the electrical outlets- none of them could charge a cell phone other than the ones in the bathroom. Multiple chaperones reported the same. When unplugged in the charger, it literally fell out of the wall. And the outlet next to the bed- the switch plate was broken and the outlet was ready to fall out all together. Can't comment on the pool but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Everything else is just... worn and tired and dated and if redone it was not redone well. I would not call this a "resort". Conference center it was. read more

I was here for a couple of nights recently. The room was fine, a little dated but clean, spacious and functional. The staff were helpful and friendly. This is a large facility that held a few different events over the weekend I was there, lots of conference rooms and event spaces that were busy almost every day. What they don't mention is that they share a pool with their in-house athletic club, so be prepared for a number of very territorial elderly swimmers. They put all their stuff right at the entrance of the pool, blocking the stairs into it, and they were noticeably aggravated with the hotel guests. There is a large box of pool noodles that are labeled for adults only for some reason, and my kid was yelled at, across the entire room, for coming within inches of some old biddie's noodle as it sat on the side of the pool. We mostly just ignored them. I think they host swim or aquacize classes classes there too but we didn't see that. It would have been nice to know this going in as the old people were extremely unpleasant. I didnt try the restaurant, there was a salon and a gift shop there as well. If I come again it would be in the summer, as this seems like an affordable place to stay for visiting nearby beaches. read more

We were part of a larger group that visited Cape Cod Irish Village for Super Bowl weekend. It was our first time seeing the new location. The Check-In process was very efficient considering the large amount of people arriving on Friday afternoon. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Some of the furnishings could use updating but they were clean and serviceable nonetheless. The weekend package included two breakfasts and two dinners in the Dining Room. The Friday Dinner menu was a little limited but there were several appetizers and meals to choose from. I had the Tempura Cauliflower with Sweet Chili Sauce appetizer. It was delicious and the portion was enough for 4 people. I opted for the Shepherds Pie for the Main Course and it was perfect. Dessert selection was a little bit lacking. I had the homemade Chocolate Cupcake. The frosting was very good but the cake itself was a little dry. I think that's understandable considering the amount of guests. The remaining meals were all equally as good and the Dining Room servers were all very friendly, attentive and efficient. Meal highlights were the Prime Rib, Steak Tips and of course a pint of Guinness a perfect pour). There was a Disco Party on Saturday evening. I didn't attend but those who did had a great time. We watched the Super Bowl in The Ballroom on Sunday. The Audio and Video quality were excellent and the game was projected on two large screens. The game didn't go as hoped but we had a great time. Let me start by saying the staff was excellent and very attentive. I was shocked that the Irish village did not have an Irish bar. They had irish music playing in a golf pub. The rooms while spacious had no clock, phone or a tv that got a signal. The Wi-Fi there is terrible. There is no mirror in the bedroom and the fridge is on top of the only table in the room and only 1 chair. Cleaning service was a nudge knocking on your door way to early in the morning. I enjoyed everything about this hotel except for the bedrooms. Pros: -Restaurant onsite was very good. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and you can order to go. -Both inside and outside pools were also wonderful. You can even order food and drinks but the line does get long. -Location is great. It was fast to Door Dash to arrive and it is just a 5 minute drive to Main Street. Con: -The rooms are just bad. So outdated and LOUD. You can not sleep in as you can hear every noise in the hallway or the room above you. -Paint peeling away from the wall. -Lack of electrical outlets. Not all of the outlets worked. There was also a 6-prong outlet plugged into the bathroom, which is a big no-no in a bathroom! -My room had a good sized fridge but many rooms had a smaller fridge on top of the only table in the room. -No space! No chairs and table to eat at. You just have to eat in your bed or bring in the patio furniture. -Microwaves are an extra $10 a night!!! -There are no fans in the bathroom so moisture is a huge issue. We had many in our group have to ask for dehumidifiers for their rooms. -No room service, no information at all in the room. No list of places to visit or eat, hours of the pool or restaurant. -My BIGGEST issue was housekeeping. We had someone from house keeping knock on our door each morning between 8:30-9:00 to ask if we wanted service that day. I have NEVER had this experience before. The first morning, we were asked at 8:30 for our towels and trash. The next few days, we were asked if we wanted service. Some rooms had "Do Not Disturb/Service Needed" signs but we did not have one. All-in-all, the area is nice, the convention center was great, just don't stay there! read more

Finally my daughter said find my mother a room that is acceptable so after 3 more rooms she picked one out! She did say mom your gonna have to get cleaning supplies and I did ! The bathroom ceiling and walls were cracked and peeling ( pictures attached) Be prepared no trash cans on any off the floors ( strange) light fixtures in the hallways broken and cracked and yellow, ice machines filthy! Game room ( absolutely disgusting and guess what a trash can ) Inside pool never no towels and if they have some they are so old and gray. The men's bathroom the frame when you walked in is litteraly falling apart and its metaland its rusted big time! If a kid stubs his toe its definitely a hospital visit. ( Pictures attached) I must say I did meet some really nice employees ( a handful) The two guest agents who worked the weekend of the 16th were top notch . The chubby guest agent who worked the morning did not care at all and never ever smiled. My house keeper Claudia was great! The host in the restaurant was great and he was smiling all the time. The restaurant and the food! Breakfast was totally gross pancakes cold and who serves pancakes with no butter ( my server did, eggs benedict gross (the hollidanse was definitely frozen) the am servers had no personality at all! Dinner hit or missed it depend what server you get ! One server a guy with glasses never checked back and brought your drink out when your meal was half way gone. I did have a really nice server from Ireland who recommended the Shepherd's Pie and it was good, but his last night working was the 15th his visa ended. When I ordered the Shepherd's Pie again it was cold and litteraly gave up. I know its a long review and that's why I attached pictures too. The health department definitely needs to come and check out this place! The owner is definitely only cares about the money and not the guests! The food is truly awful here. It is extremely rundown, and poorly maintained. There are no screens on the sliding doors, and huge gaps under the door. Our toilet seat actually shattered. The carpets are filthy and bubbling up and the floors are weak and soft. I just don't see how anyone could expect anyone to have a good conference experience here. read more

This is the WORST and grossest hotel I have ever stayed in. When we arrived we were greeted with the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the lobby. Our room did not have a deadbolt on it, floor and door trims were missing, stained lampshades, mold on the ceiling, and a bathroom that has never been cleaned..... complete with bugs on the floor! The shower did not drain and we were up to our ankles in water. The hotel room was so gross and musty, we purchased dehumidifiers to combat the stickiness. We were here for a wedding and not by choice, by all means find somewhere else to stay even if this is the recommended hotel!!! read more

The wifi is practically nonexistent, spiders and gnats in the rooms; if you go to the rooms you will probably see a couple dead bugs still on the ceiling. The staff were friendly, the rooms kinda sucked and the power randomly went out without warning. The food is kind of bad but it's hotel food, what do you really expect? The pool also stunk like feet and made everyone with us extremely itchy after, you can tell the renovations went to the contractor with the lowest bidder. read more

i am here right now and staying here was a huge mistake. This place is a complete sty filled with smoking drinking loud old farts. Walls are paper thin. The bathroom is barely big enough to turn around in and I'm a small person. The shower is covered in mold and there is no bathroom fan. The bed spreads are stained, as the walls and ceiling! My downstairs neighbours sit outside all day smoking and drinking and have filled my room with smoke despite the balcony door being closed and the AC on. My eyes and throat are on fire due to their poison. the hallway carpets are ancient and disgusting. no microwave. restaurant food was served tepid. This place should be bulldozed to the ground. 1 star is one too many. I want to give them negative stars. I wish I could leave now, but I have 4 more nights at this total **** hole. This is my second year attending a quilting retreat at this resort. I am amazed at the improvements that have been made over the last year. The rooms have had the carpets removed and nice flooring installed. Rooms are very clean. Staff is amazing. This year they have a restaurant that is opened on the weekends for breakfast. Great way to start the day. The only negative would be is that the little refrigerator is on the only table in the room. They need to put a small table in for us to use. Internet was definitely greatly improved this year. Thank you for an enjoyable week. Will definitely be back next year. read more

Clean location, friendly staff. The only downside was not having microwaves in every room for guest considering conventions are held here frequently. This means guest with lengthy visits who may want to heat up their level overs rather than spending money daily at restaurants. read more

Had a great stay except a bartender named Kerry who harassed our family two nights in a row. When the bar was "closing" she came right up to our group and said to leave the bar because it's closing but let the "regulars" stay 45 minutes after. When I called her out on that she called me names and kicked myself and cousins out of the bar and they were stilll serving patrons. I'm very disappointed that I paid so much for a room and to get harassed by a bartender who seemed like she too overwhelmed by a weekend crowd and started to treat everyone in the bar rudely. read more

I've stayed here numerous times and enjoyed it -- until now. We arrived. It had moved. Good luck finding it on the internet: is it in Dennis Port? Hyannis? OK. Hyannis. But it's "in" the Resort & Conference Center. It kinda goes by "Emerald Isle" and "Irish Village". Confirming reservations? Disconnected 4 times. No internet in the rooms, despite the front desk pretending to give a password. Intermittent Wifi for your phone; but forget it for your laptop. Granted they recently moved here, but it's a conference center. I missed a very important online meeting. "We're working on it." -- No trucks working on it that I could see. Went to breakfast prior to checking out. Came back and our stuff was gone and the room was being cleaned. Some of the original IV staff were good. But we won't be going back. read more

Bait and switch. We stayed at the Irish Village back in 1997 and it was beautiful. Perfect visit, beautiful hotel and delicious food. We have wanted to revisit over the years and finally decided to go this year. It was a big mistake. What happened was the original Irish Village in Yarmouth has been sold to a senior assisted living community and the name alone has been tacked onto an old hotel and conference center in Hyannis which was terrible. Dirty and disgusting, the rooms were filthy, the bathrooms had old shower curtains and liners, the phones didn't work and the entire place smelled of mildew and musty odors. The front desk staff did not care to hear any complaints and the only good part was Henry who was very gracious and understood our concerns and was very nice. Would not recommend this place at all to anyone. We did get our money back which is one thing I will say they did without any argument which leads me to believe they do this quite often. read more

We love the new location! We had a large family gathering of 13 for 6 days and had a wonderful time. We always love the staff but the new location is such a big improvement. The beds, the pools the nice grounds all a step up. Great food as always. Even with the large crowds for the weddings we still had great service and the rooms were nice and quiet. We stayed for a quick overnight due to a party we were attending. Having stayed here before I knew what to expect and what not to expect. I brought my own disinfectant wipes. The two bars are property are great. The front desk staff is phenomenal. We got up and left early in the morning so didn't experience breakfast, but the past times I've stayed, the breakfast was awesome. The walls are super paper thin-you can hear EVERYTHING from your neighbors or in the halls. Beds aren't the greatest for comfort, but they were clean. read more

I was very disappointed. Upon arrival, no one told us there would be no housekeeping services, which I understand but tell me! The first room we were given had white powder all over the floor. We were moved to a second room. This room smelled musty. Everyday, except one of a 5 day stay I had to request towels. I was told they were to be attached to my door in a plastic bag. This never happened. I was never given extra toilet paper or garbage bags. The room was a good size definitely needed a good overall cleaning to get rid of smell. Fun atmosphere. Live Irish music every night at both the restaurant and the pub. Great swimming pool. Free WiFi: works great in the lobby and at the pool, not very well in some of the guest rooms. Great food; I enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie. You can get a hotel package that includes meals, but this is not an option through Expedia or Travelocity. The staff was pleasant and the man who checked me in remembered me by name and said hi to me in the halls and asked about the room. The room was a bit old and dingy. I wore shower shoes. The bed was firm. Their website advertised it as "working class." I would definitely stay again but may not be for you if you're used to the Hilton. read more

If you love children running up and down the halls, screaming and slamming doors until 2:30 am then this is the place for you! Multiple calls to the front desk at all hours of the night were met with comments of "welcome to school vacation week." Never an offer of help. My children were even horrified at the behavior of the kids and their parents who did nothing to rein in their kids in the middle of the night. The room was beyond run down and was definitely 'quickly cleaned' as there was still dirt and dust all over the room, stains on the walls and blood stains on our pillows. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. At. All. Don't waste your money, the deals aren't worth it. read more
