I was a loyal customer until today. I had them install a 3" suspension lift on my 4Runner 6 weeks ago, and I had them mount wheels and tires. I went back after the install at the requested 500 mile mark and had my wheels re-torqued (supposedly). Recently, I notice a knock in my driver side wheel when i brake and turn. I take it back to Cape Fear and they insist it is my cv's needing replaced even though I only have 48k miles on my vehicle. This week, my front driver side wheel damn near falls off and I limp into Black's Tire & Auto Service with a wheel visibly wobbling on my vehicle. I had 2 broken lugs on my wheel and I could have seriously injured myself or others... I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue with them. But i have heard of other customers having careless work performed on their cars. I know for a fact they don't need my business, and i'm ok with that- but I won't return. I am irritated that after i spent $7k with them on vehicle modifications they failed to show one ounce of care or concern for the danger they put myself or others in. They simply didn't care. I'm not saying don't use them for what you need, i was pleased until today's interaction. I am saying be wary of the work you have performed and be cautious when getting wheels mounted at this location- because you're on your own when you leave- and they could care less. Avoid this place like the plague. They treat their own employees like garbage, and the upper management is incompetent. Expect issues with installation, billing, and communication. Find a shop in town, which there are plenty of, that will treat you better and not charge a ridiculous markup, and know that your money is going towards employees that are being treated well, and a company that deserves your business. read more

Got a lift installed and they did a decent job for a decent price. Got my tires installed elsewhere, the ones CFC recommended. The new tires were creating a knocking sound when turning sharply. I went to CFC to fix. After asking they would not specify exactly what they did, calling it an ambiguous wheel pin, and $250 later, the front mud flaps were removed. I asked if I could come by to specify but no response. I emailed further about another job twice, no response. Guys were nice but kind of felt duped after. read more

I AM EXTREMELY DISSATSFIED with Cape Fear Customs! Please excuse my long message, and I hope you'll read it to find out why I will NEVER AGAIN do business with this company. PROBLEM ONE: On 1-5-22, I was quoted a price by the CFC owner for $875 for an Extang bed cover for my 2008 Honda Ridgeline. When I called back two days later to order it, he said the price was $999.00! An increase of $124! When I told the owner he had already quoted me the $875 price, he admitted he did give me that price. And he asked me to split the difference between the initial quote and the "new" price. I reluctantly agreed to do this, and ended up having to pay $62 more than the price I was initially given. PROBLEM TWO: I was told not only by the owner of CFC but also by two other employees that the Extang bed cover was very simple to install and shouldn't take but about 30 minutes. WRONG! No one at CFC explained that for my first generation Honda Ridgeline pickup, TWO RAILS had to be installed inside the bed for the cover to fit on. Everyone I talked to at CFC was totally unaware that the two rails had to be installed before the cover could be installed. Bottom line, CFC sold me a product they clearly did not understand. PROBLEM THREE: As I attempted to install the necessary rails, I realized the holes in the rails did not fit the bolt holes in my truck bed. At that point I should have taken the cover back to CFC, but I did call Extang Customer Service and they explained that the supplier of the rails punched the holes wrong! They agreed to ship me a new set of rails. BUT, after waiting THREE WEEKS and not getting the new rails, I called CFC and the owner assured me he would contact Extang and get the new rails shipped to me with expedited shipping...AND he would let me know the status of his call to Extang. After waiting for EIGHT MORE DAYS and not hearing anything at all from CFC, I called again and talked with another CFC employee and explained my frustration with not having any idea what was happening with my new rails and not hearing anything from CFC. This employee assured me he would contact Extang and call me back by 9:00 the very next morning. He never called at all. After waiting THREE DAYS for this employee to call me back, I called CFC AGAIN to find out what was going on. I talked with yet a THIRD employee who said he would remedy the situation and get my rails shipped overnight to me. This employee also assured me that given the six weeks of delays, confusion and waiting I had experienced, CFC WOULD INSTALL MY EXTANG BED COVER FOR NO CHARGE once the new rails were received. PROBLEM FOUR: After finally receiving my new rails after waiting for MORE THAN SIX WEEKS, I called CFC and talked with the owner and explained that one of his employees had assured me my bed cover would be installed for NO CHARGE. The owner REFUSED to honor that commitment, no matter what I'd been through. After an unpleasant exchange, the owner finally started that he would install the cover FREE OF CHARGE. BUT.....within 30 minutes, the owner called back to say he would NOT install the cover free, but would charge me $100 to install it!! He stated that the "normal charge" for installing the cover was $230. And, he stated he gave me a "discount" on the bed cover when I actually paid him MORE than the initial quote he gave me! (see PROBLEM ONE) HOWEVER, in my initial quote for buying the cover, the owner AND two other employees told me the normal charge for installation was $130, NOT $230! At this point I absolutely refused to have them install my bed cover and vowed I would have no further dealings whatsoever with Cape Fear Customs because I feel I could never trust anything anyone there told me. BOTTOM LINE: Over and over again I was given FALSE information and prices, and was given follow through commitments that were clearly NOT HONORED. As you can imagine, I will never again do business with this company. read more

I was majorly impressed with this business! It's not often that you get both great customer service and great work. I bought a pickup and wanted the bed Line-X coated. When I showed up for my appointment, I had a warm greeting from someone you could tell was proud of their job. I was even offered a tour of their shop (which I gladly took) which was very clean and organized. I picked up my truck, and the attention to detail was spot on. Everything was put together properly, and there wasn't one spot of overspray from the spray-in bedliner. I would highly recommend them for Line-X work, and their custom work looked exemplary too, though it's mostly geared towards Jeeps. I don't have one bad thing to say about the whole experience. read more
