After eating breakfast with my husband, he mentioned that he needed a haircut. We were going to a nice dinner with family that evening. To be quite honest, I don't think my husband has set foot in a barber shop since the week of our wedding in 2007! He usually gets his hair cut by his friend at work. Either that or he shaves his head bald. We tried going to a barber shop on Foothill Blvd but it was closed. So we were on our way to the closest Supercuts when we stumbled upon Carpelli's. They are across the street from the IHOP on Archibald and next to a Mexican restaurant. The take credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard), but don't take American Express. They also allow walk-in appointments. My husband got a chair right away. The guy who cut his hair said he only started there about 3 months ago, but this barber shop has been around for 25 years. As I sat waiting for him, I noticed that more men started coming in and they seemed like regulars. They are all very friendly with each other and talk. Haha.. so funny to see guys "talking" while getting their hair cut. Just like being in a hair salon.... He did a razor fade for him and left his hair on top. He told him to grow his hair out on top and to come back in a couple months so he can finish the look off for him. Including tip, he spent about $20 for his cut. He said he'll come back in a few months. So as his wife, I think the cut looks nice but a bit short on the sides. Terrible experience today. My teenager wanted a trim so we stopped by after school. After explaining in detail what he wanted including "DON'T TOUCH THE BACK" the first thing she did was use the clippers on the back. He had been growing that hair out for months. After seeing the look of horror on my teen's face I said "teenagers are very sensitive about their hair", the barber next to her says to me "It's OK". What? Of course to my teenager it's the end of the world. Zero apology. Thanks for adding to my teen's angst. read more

I have been going to him for over 10 years . Now that he is working hete at Capelli, i m happy since he is the closeste he has ever been to my pad . His skillz are 2nd to none . He has vision, patience , great people's skills , which to me is the main point, ingredient, to a succesful business. Very Bad experience here. This is the second time I gave this barbershop a try. I came in today and asked for a "low fade". I even made multiple gestures with my hands explaining how low of a fade I wanted.... and I received the highest fade I have ever seen. I am one step away of cutting my hair completely off. I've been growing the top of my hair out for over a year, to obtain a certain look. This will now interfere with work because I cannot look presentable, and may have to Cover up with a hat until my hair grows back again in a few months. read more

I want to start by saying that the two guys with tattoos do a great job. I've brought my son here many times, and they have always given him a good cut. The others... not so much. My son has had a couple of bad cuts from their other barbers, but this one takes the cake. We asked for a comb over with a high fade, and they shaved him all the way up the back of his head almost to his ears. The front half of his head is a comb over, and the back half is a buzz cut. If the two guys that do a good job weren't always so busy, it may be a good spot, but since you can't trust the others, we won't be back. read more

My 8 year old received a haircut by The guy in the 2nd chair. That guy did a great job! I went back to take my 4 year old. I wish I knew the guys name that cut my sons hair (this time 3rd chair). He mentioned he was a father and that explains why he was so patient with my 4 year old. I must say this is the BEST haircut my son has ever gotten. I will be posting a picture of my sons hair. I love that my son still looks like a little boy. He asked a lot of questions about what kind of cut he wanted and I totally appreciate it because it was exactly what I wanted. I will be going back. I would never recommend this place to anybody! The ladies were so rude and snobby! So unprofessional it was unbelievable. I actually came in looking for a barber who cut my son's hair a while back .. I believe the barber's name is Joel.. and another time was Fabian. They were both so patient with my son and took their time to make sure his haircut was perfect. It was sad to hear they both left the shop (but, on another note, a good thing they left this ugly place) if anybody knows where either of them moved to please let me know because I will gladly drive to wherever they are now. Usually I will only trust Goodtimez Barber Shop in Upland with my fade but Frank took great care of me. I was hesitant and skeptical because my hair is difficult to cut but he did a great job. $15 is about the going rate for a cut and fade. Beware of barbers in training!!! I come here often and get my haircut by experienced professionals but let it be known that they train people to cut hair here, without you knowing, and have you pay full price (around $20) which is shady. There's no way I'd let a mechanic in training work on my car and then pay full price for a repair and find out that my brakes no longer work. If you stick with the heavily tattooed guys cutting your hair, your in good hands. read more

12/18/2015 Top Notch. As stated in a previous review for Supercuts, I hate to get my hair cut. My wife kept mentioning to me that I should go to a barber and try it out. Out of frustration from going back and forth between Fantastic Sams and Supercuts with crappy results, I figured I would give it a try. I was truly impressed with my overall experience. While I was waiting I didn't realize that their credit card machine was not working, so I told them that I had to go get cash. They told me to go ahead and get my hair cut; I could come back with the cash when I was finished. I have never had a business allow me to do this before and I was caught off guard by the level of trust that they had given me. As far as getting my hair cut, I usually get a #2 mid-fade on the sides, with a trim on top. I do not recall the barbers name, but he took his time and did a fantastic job; something I am not use to with franchise salons. I will definitely be back for another cut. read more

Tried this place for the first time, recommended by my father. Place opened 10 minutes late, and waited in car for barber in first chair to open. Then he took a gentleman before me as I waited 45 minutes, refusing another barber to wait for him. Then before I could get in the chair, another gentleman walked in and the barber said he was taking him first because he had an appointment and then me, after knowing I waited 45 minutes for him. Frank has 20 plus years with cutting and styling hair so if there's anyone who can make your haircut look amazing it's my man Frank. Brought nephew here just now who are mixed culture. Don't know if this is the case, but perhaps they weren't used to mixed clientele. We were not greeted, only stared at, it seems as though the other free barbers (two middle aged women) didn't seem to want to be bothered. The guys, glanced up but said nothing. Then after about 5 minutes of a staring contest, final the darker haired of the two women trudged up and told my nephew she can help him. This woman is a mess at cutting hair! Implements and equipment are tossed and picked up in drawer TOGETHER God knows if they are cleaned or not. There is minimal effort to communicate with the client. You don't have to chatter your clients ear off, but development of some sort of familiarity with the client would result in repeat business. NONE happened. My nephew being peaceful, allowed her to finish, but will NEVER come back!! STAY AWAY FROM HERE go across the street!! No wonder this isn't busy on a SATURDAY!! read more
