NEVER have I EVER gone to a dealership & been asked to pay for a car key battery. I asked reception if they could replace it, she kindly directed me to the parts counter. I asked "hey could you guys replace the battery for me" to which he replied "sure" He gave me back my key, & I turned to walk away & he hen tells me I'd have to pay for the battery.... I'm sorry but is this a mom & pop shop where you should pay for such an item or is this a huge dealership to which like 100% of the other dealerships would gladly just replace the battery & not even hint at you paying for a stupid battery. The WORST customer service ever. Each person you talk to gives you a different answer and everything from service to parts takes so long. It can take days before they respond to a voice message or text. The only thing they are super efficient at is actually selling cars, but once you are they have bagged that customer everything else falls apart. I have spoken to others who feel the same way. have visited the service center couple of times. The first issue is they don't really have the expert to identify issue with your car. My VW is out of warranty and what they did, they replaced stuff and wanted to see if it fixed the issue which cost me couple of thousands (yes I paired them at least $3000 to finally fix the issue in four different sessions) When I got my car back few major issues: 1- in the engine they didn't even care to put things back and install them properly. There were major steps which they didn't care to do and I had to go back to them to fix them. 2- I made a mistake and left my locked bike rack on the car and had the key inside the car. Guess what? When I went to get the car, they didn't mentioned the bike rack is missing ( probably hoping I will not notice it) But I noticed and also noticed the lock key is also removed from the rest of the keys so basically they stole the bike rack. When I complained they said they will check the cameras and will find what happened. After. A week and nobody returning calls or contacting me I went to see the. Again for the second time. And they guy from the service center said they couldn't find anything and I have to work with my insurance. They didn't even care to say they are sorry for the trouble they made or apologized for their lack of customer care and service. I live in North Van and only few KM from their service center, BUT now I drive 20km or even 45km to other trusted locations. For sales don't even bother I prepaid and signed up for ID 4 in Oct 2022 and last week I received an email saying "I should expect the car to arrive Q2 2024!!!" I will return and will get from other dealers, which confirmed I can get the car within couple of months and not 1.5yr!!! read more

Bought a VW Jetta from the BMW dealership who had sent the car to Cap VW for pre sale inspection. After driving the car a few days I noticed Some issues such as zero heat some erratic shifting installing and a glow plug error that put car in creep mode. BMW offered to fix the car so it was sent to Cap VW again as they inspected it. After a few days the said there was nothing wrong with it. I sat in there lot for 45 minutes waiting for heat there was no heat. The easiest diagnosis was not even recognized. BMW washed there hands of it after VE said nothing wrong the car went back to VW on a tow truck from Boston bar as the heater core was plugged it cracked a heater coupler and a code form a defected crank position sensor was observed they charged me $1100 to fix sensor and coupler. they said heater core needed replacing at $1100 I told them I would do it myself. $60 for the heater core and 2 hours of my time. In short I would not let these people fix a motor less lawn mower. The useless service tech talked to me like I was a insect. The boy has a lot to learn. read more

I had not bought a new car in over 20 years. I was so nervous about going to a dealership my friend's husband, James offered to help me. James went to Capilano and picked a salesman, RJ Miyagawa who helped James find exactly what I wanted, a 2016 VW Golf with 33,000 kilometers. I joined James and RJ the next day to see the car. RJ was respectful, friendly, knowledgeable and patient with me as I had questions re all the new electronics. We went for a test ride. RJ gave super directions as to how to handle the car. I bought the car. Since then I have called RJ a couple of times with questions. He got back to me immediately. He has a great sense of humor as well. I sold my VW Tiguan over the past weekend. I called Capilano VW to get my winter tires for the new owners. They said tires available on Weds, which is 4 days later, but ok. I visited the parts desk Tues to tell them the name of the purchaser picking up the tires. He informed me that the tires are there. The purchaser drove from Chilliwack to pick up the tires, but arrived after the parts desk was closed, so no tires. I spoke with the Parts Mgr this morning. Very UNHELPFUL. I asked if the tires could be transported to Langley, half way. He said he didn't have the capacity to assist. I said a guy, the tires and a car for 90 minutes. He was not at all interested in discussing a compromise solution. The parts guy yesterday didn't make any comment about when the tires are available for pick up, if he had, I would have passed that information onto the purchaser. This is not my first bad experience with Capilano VW. Loved my VW. Capilano VW, not so much. read more

Be warned, you will get the up-sell or "it's recommended" lies from the service advisors. Read your vehicles specific service booklet, and be sure to let them know you're not paying for anything more than what VW recommends in the booklet. Took my Touareg in for annual oil change, they said it would be over $700! I asked why it is so expensive to check fluid levels (washer, trans, steering) and change the oil and oil filter? Service advisor said it needs a full tune up all new filters (fuel, air etc..) as part of VW recommendations. Told him, No its not. He disagreed and started leafing through the VW Manual. To his "surprise" new filters were not needed at my KM's. This service advisor (Mo) has been there for years, working for VW and they don't know this. Seriously! I don't believe that for a second. This theater happens every time. My car is 3 years old, so are the VW service recomendations for that car printed in black and white in the booklet. Just another typical attempt to lie and up-sell service that is not required by VW to maintain warranty. Don't trust their service advisors, read the manual and tell them what you need. Really going for scheduled maintenance shouldn't have to be this way. As far as the actual work the techs do, I haven't had any issues. read more

I love the brand, but Cap Audi VW does not do any favours for it. The service is really less than stellar. The Audi and VW lots are in 2 separate locations with the same ownership- they share cars freely between the lots. -booked an afternoon off work and drove 98 km (round trip) to close the vehicle sale. After signing in at reception and waiting an hour I was advised by Andy that the sales manager had not yet been able to respond to my offer and there was nothing he could do at at the time. After a couple more days of negotiating further, Andy told me that the car had to be purchased in June to get the pricing and that someone from Audi would call me on Saturday to complete this- presumably to schedule a time to come down that day. I cancelled my canada Day long weekend plans to hear from this other salesman. I did not hear from him. read more

I bought my 2019 Tiguan brand new in March 2020. Second week of January 2021 I started to smell mold in my car so I checked the carpets and I found mold growing on the passenger and driver side carpets more so the driver side though with water under my car mats. Side note, I was just about to start my ICU nursing course and this was the last thing that I wanted to happen. I dropped my car off at VW and they did water testing, found a leak, fixed it, retested it, and I got it back in 5 days. I had my car for 6 days, went to check the carpet and the driver side was soaked still. I brought my car in a few days later AGAIN. Same thing, they water tested it, found a leak, retested it, and i got my car back after 13 days this time. Again, I had my car for 3 days and I noticed the leak STILL there, same place. I called VW AGAIN and took my car in. They said they're getting someone special to come in and take a look at the car. Its been in the shop for 9 days now and they told me they found the leak, sealed it, and retested it. Had it back for only 1 day and there's still condensation found on my rubber matt and my carpet is damp... This situation is SO SO frustrating as im in full-time ICU nursing schooling and have to deal with this faulty car? I dont know when the next leak going to show? A brand new car should NOT have these many leaks not even a year into ownership. I reached out to Garry (apparently the GM) and he said he would try to get me into a new Tiguan but the emails have been very inconsistent with him and haven't heard anything yet about that. My car has been in their shop for over a month all together; meanwhile, I STILL had to pay my monthly payment when I wasn't even driving it. I believe a few things should be compensated because having this leak over and over again 3 times so far is definitely unheard of. Ps. Ali and Moe have been great help... not sure who is to blame here but I just don't want to be coming back with car problems as this is the original reason why I got a brand new car... read more

They had the perfect car for me, but the salesman seemed like he didn't care at all of the car was sold or not! He was dismissive, ignorant, and did not want to help us at all. We still decided to test drive the car and found out something was seriously wrong with it. We then brought it back after the horrible test run, and all they had to say was we were wrong and the mechanic looked at it (pretty much saying we don't know what we are talking about or we are lying). The whole time the manager and the salesmen treated us like dirt, told us we were wrong, and when asked for help he said stuff like "that's above my pay grade". Maybe it's just me but aren't sales men supposed to be hungry to sell cars. I wonder if I should have brought my dad in and he'd given us a little bit more respect? read more

Wow, had I to do it over I wouldn't have called this dealership. As long as they sell you the car... don't expect any after help. I got a golf r. Everything on this car is new to me. The sales man Bob, gave me a five minute tutorial. That's it. Other than being excited, I was nervous about signing my life away. Came with 16 grand down. Not bad for a sick guy with no job. Of course family helped, but I put all my money in too. Still was made to feel like a piece of"$&! With no job. Hey I'm sick you jerks. Might seem like whining but what happened to costumers first, this guy has a nasty side and it comes out in his correspondence. Car is great, but shop for a salesman first. I'm still friends with my Subaru sales man. I grew up around the best salesmen, realtors, those guys can sell. Do yourself a favour and invest time in the sales staff, or you'll be forgotten the minuet your off the lot. 48000 is what the car cost, honestly I feel violated now. For sure. My experience at Capilano VW has been extremely poor. Posting on behalf of bf. They were unprofessional, belittling and time wasters. I recently went into their facility to test drive one of their used vehicles. I provided all of my information and even asked if I can put in an initial offer. I was told to wait a couple of days so that the sales associate can communicate with the manager. I understood and kept SMS throughout the week with various offers back and forth. We ended with a number that was in the middle. I responded that seems fair and that I would like to make an appointment a couple days later so that my GF can see and test drive the car before siting down for a deal. (We both had to take time off from our jobs to make it to North Vancouver). The communication was throughout the week and even received a txt to speak with the manager as we were walking into the showroom for our appointment since he was not available that day. As we were greeted by the manger Bobby Ezharie (Who wouldn't even give me his card- had to find the last name online). We were told that the car that I was interested in was already sold. I asked him that if he was sure since I have been messaging his associates throughout the week and even the day of the appointment. (Somewhat shocking) The manager was unapologetic towards the situation and only escalated it by spilling legal verbiage of refundable deposits and that communication via txt or phone is not law binding where only in-person first come first serve is the only way to do communication for used vehicles. He (Bobby) was also hostile towards my GF at times and felt deflective. I even looked at the other sales associates to try to calm the manager down since my GF wasn't even involve with this situation and that he should be really communicating with me if he wanted to be hostile. It was an extremely weird and awkward situation to have the customer be more calm than the sales person. I wanted to point out that at this point of time I wasn't even upset about the car, I know you can not conjure up another used vehicle out of thin air and I was more upset at the lack of communication, the feeling of deceit and the wasting of my valuable time. Honestly I just felt a bit jerked around. At this point standing in the middle of the showroom, all I wanted was a sincere apology and maybe a heads up if a similar vehicle was to show up on their lot again. Both of which I did not received from the manager but another sales associate did provide his card and was apologetic. Based on the reaction of the manager, I do feel that he "or his team" had something to hide and that there was some sort of inside awareness to their "regular" customers. I guess that what you get when there is a car that was too good for its price. (Car's price was recently lowered) I just wanted to share my experience at this dealership with everyone and heck congratulation to the person who bought the used car that I saw, it is a good find. You might want to make sure that check engine light warning was taken care of before you picked up the car. (Just a heads up) It is also funny that as I am typing this review up the day after this experience I did not get a txt or message from the original sales associate apologizing to this situation. In fact whoever picks up the phone there must hate her job. We leased our second car with them a couple of years ago, a Tiguan. I wanted different rims than the ones that came with the car and a good deal on them. After much haggling they met my terms, and off we went with our new Tiguan with the rims I wanted. Less than a year later began hearing a loud howling sound while driving at high speeds. Took them in, first to be told the noise was normal, and then having taken them into a tire store and being told it was the tires, I came back here and only then they decided to admit that yes it was the tires. So outright LIED to me the first time. The tires they gave me were a no-name brand called General, which NO other VW comes with, none. And I could not find a single car on their lot with those tires. But did they mention that they were giving me no-name tires and that this was the reason the rims I wanted ended up working within my budget? Of course not. So I was deceived right from the start. Their solution? For me to pay $600 MORE to get better tires than the ones they deceived me into, instead of what a good customer service business would do which is to replace the tires with ones that didn't make noise. After wasting a couple of hours arguing with the service manager and sales manager who refused to accept that they sold me duds, I was fed up. So I finally told them to take the rims they bamboozled me into back, give me back the money I paid for them, and put the stock rims and tires back on the car. No problem, I can take one hit to being provided terrible customer service. But then a couple of weeks ago I take my car in to get an oil change. Because I live in downtown and work in Langley and can't keep taking my car to North Shore during their business hours, I had taken the car to Mr. Lube for a change prior to this. I have taken two other leased vehicles to Mr. Lube for years without any issues. So then I get a call from their service department telling me that they can't take the oil pan bolt out because it was stripped, likely by place that serviced it last. Right away I'm thinking why does it take 2 hrs to come to that conclusion? So then they tell me they can spend another 2 hrs trying to take it off, but that likely I would need to replace the ENTIRE oil pan!! I told them to leave it, paid for their work? Not sure for what but paid anyways, and took the car back to Mr. Lube for them to rectify their work. And when I got there I put the Mr. Lube manager on the phone with the Capilano VW service guy so that he can explain what Mr. Lube did wrong. But what actually happened was I listened as the Mr. Lube manager provided strong evidence contradicting what the Cap VW service guy was claiming and more importantly listened as the Cap WV guy CHANGED the story he had told me. Turns out his team had actually tried to take the bolt off but couldn't. So then I'm thinking was it stripped or was it on tight and you stripped it trying to take it off and then tried to blame another company for doing it? More importantly, if it was stripped and you saw something was broken by another company, why would you not leave it alone rather than touch it and make it worse? So now I'm certain that the bolt was just on too tight perhaps and that Cap VW stripped the bolt trying to take it off. Now I'm left having to take the car BACK to Cap WV. When I call the service guy to arrange the visit, his first comment to me is "so we're going to replace the oil pan?", and I'm like no, you're going to try to take the bolt out, not sell me a new pan! We then drop the car off at 9:30am. 12pm rolls around and no word, so I get worried and I CALLED THEM for an update instead of the other way around, only to be told oh yeah we got the bolt off. Great. It took 2hrs?! Is my oil changed? Not yet. So another 2hrs go by, total of 4 hrs now, and finally my wife goes to pick the car up. Obviously she was shocked to see a bill for $280, that's in addition to the $50 paid the first time, for a total of $330 to get an oil change. When I challenged them on why I have to pay for what is obviously their shoddy work stripping the bolt, their response was to GUILT me for taking my car to somewhere other than them to get the oil changed. Classic shady sales tactics. Put fear in your customers so that they don't go anywhere else but you. So now it's MY, the customer's, fault that all of this happened. When I asked for an explanation of why they would touch a stripped bolt, the guy gets defensive and outright rude to me and then to my wife, in a tone as if he did us a favor. The nerve. So for a mere $800 ($600 for the tires they wanted to sell me and $200 extra I ended up paying for an oil change) Capilano VW not only lost us as future customers, but also lost all of our friends and families as customers. If companies want to know what NOT to do customer service wise, they really should come and study this place, cause these guys can give a master's class on the subject of poor service. read more

If you want to have your time wasted and be RIPPED off go to Capilano Volkswagen. I took it down to the service dept when i noticed that the seatbelt attachment was not bolted in where it was supposed to be when i went to install my nephew's booster seat. It would've been a simple matter of unscrewing, attaching and reattaching a bolt with a special socket wrench that only a mechanic would have. (Why it was unbolted is a mystery...previous servicing neglect?) But when I got there the guy wanted to start an entire service write up for a two minute job and told me i'd be charged for labour. After consulting my husband and telling them to just do it anyway because i had three kids at home waiting to go to Scienceworld he then told me to come back at 1pm (it was 12:20) because his mechanic was going to go on lunch at 12:30 and couldn't start the work till then. The time to look at it and fix it would have been less than 10 mins! Very grudgingly I returned at 1 and after they looked at it told me i also needed to fix another part that was totally unrelated to the bolt. Not wanting to compromise my kid's safety i told them to do it but then they took 45 mins supposedly installing it and in the end they gave up saying they had to order a different part. When i asked if they fixed the bolt he said yes but then handed me a bill for $33 for labour to basically unscrew, attach and retighten ONE BOLT. Apparently this is a job that takes 0.2 hours of labour!!!! When i left it was 2;30, 2.5 hours after starting this whole debacle. On the flipside i took my Touareg to a Harbourview VW dealer in Nanaimo while on a road trip to replace a busted brake light and they had me in and out in less than 30 mins with the kids and all our bags still in the car. There's simply no excuse for such shameful, lazy customer service. read more

I honestly don't even know where to begin with these people. We have bought 3 VW (CC, Jetta and Toureg) and we do everything in our power to never have to deal with their service department. We go to them because we live on the North Shore but they are rude, aggressive and often time don't know what the problem is. And heaven forbid if you try to get a call back from them especially Justin. He just simply doesn't respond and then someone else calls and you have to start from the beginning. In fact I even had one of their own service people tell me " I know we have lots of issues. Your not the first person to complain I'm in charge of dealing with all this mess". wow unbelievable! I can't understand how they can operate this way and why anyone doesn;t do anything about it. Compare this to other dealerships service like the Audi and its a world of difference I now take all 3 of my cars to other VW dealers even Abbotsford - they drive it worth not have to deal with these idiots. wow. just wow. I bought my VW Jetta from this dealership, and of corse, they went all out to try and sell me a car. I guess it is no surprise that after I bought it, they could not care less about me. One time I went to ask them a question about the car, and the original salesperson who sold me the car, gave me SUCH terrible attitude and was outright hostile to me, since this time I came alone. Last time, I had gone with my father and my godfather, and this time when he faced a younger woman, his misogyny was outright GLARING. He talked down to me and made me feel so invaluable and disrespected, even though I had made an appointment to go down and talk to him. The time I wanted to pay off the car completely, I dealt with the manager of sales (Julia's partner... I can't recall his name) and my goodness...he was SO dismissive and again, the misogyny and dismissal of me was just beyond anything I have ever experienced. He didn't even offer me a bottle of water after paying him 12 grand for the remainder of my financing. He also BUTCHERED my name, and when I corrected him, he scuffed, and continued to call me by a new name every few seconds... what a fun treat to have some casual racism sprinkled on top of all this horrible service. Please do not buy from these people. They have no manners, and will NOT give you good service once they are done milking you from their sales. read more

I regret having used my extended warranty with them... always the bare minimum done, never a borrowed car and even thought I used over $8000 in extended warranty on my Touareg with them... A problem on my heater I mentioned a couple times never got solved and when a light of my Airbag popped up and I asked if they could clear it up I was told I had to pay half an hour labour.... It didn't matter how much business I done there and that I always spoke with the same service guy (James) ... not even tried to talk to his manager... I told him he lost a customer and it was like it didn't matter to him. I should had brought my business somewhere else to begin with. Bare minimum service... Always polite but never goes out of their way to do an extra and make the customer happy. When you are spending big money on car service you expect service and that people sometimes go out of their way to help you... not there. read more

I am giving one star because in the beginning, they tried. At the beginning of a 3 week nightmare having my car stuck in the Sates after an EPC failure (engine power control), they seemed like they cared. This was a brand new, 2015 Jetta TSI, I must add. Once the repairs were done in the States, under warranty of course, Cap VW could not figure out how to get my car back to Canada. Finally, at the end of week 3, they had the idea to fly the area rep down and drive my car back. They would not tell me who this person was, or provide any contact information. How absurd considering I was responsible for this vehicle?? Anyway, the car was to be back by Friday afternoon and lo and behold, by about 3:45, I get an email saying the car is near Bellingham. Another email at 4:15 now saying I have to wait until Monday. I called the dealership but of course the service rep was already off for the weekend. So now I am left without knowing where my car is or who has it. REALLY??!! No other staff at VW had any idea what was going on with it either. Saturday morning I took my spare FOB to Cap VW and hit the lock button so I would hear my car horn beep. And there it was, parked in the shop. Lucky for them it was there as I was about to report the car stolen. I took it and traded it in for another brand that afternoon. Moral, this is THE WORST dealership for customer service I have ever encountered. The service manager will not call you back or reply to an email, and their staff treat you like you're their last priority. Not an apology, call, or email since that day. Really pathetic. Oh, and don't buy a VW unless you want a car that will fall apart, including having the cam shaft shear off when you're at highway speeds on the i5, losing engine power and braking abilities. This is in addition to the squealing brakes that are "normal" on their vehicles. Way to go VW, you lost another customer and all of our friends and family as well. read more

Recently renovated store. As a lease customer, my experience at Capilano VW has exceeded my expectations of what a car dealership is. The Sales team was helpful, and easy to strike a deal with. I had my car in Service this week and was impressed by the care and attention received, as well as the communication provided by the Service staff. I've only dealt with a Honda dealership on the Island before, but Capilano VW is on the ball. I suppose the negative reviews are from emotional customers who experienced product defects or were denied warranty claims. Would recommend to my friends and family. read more

Bought my car from here. A 2009 GTI with 73,000 KMs. Car was a Certified pre owned, and such it came with a 2 year, 40,000km "bumper to bumper" warranty. 7 months after buying the car I had my check engine light come on, so I take it to capilano VW and the service guys tell me I have to pay $1000 to clean the carbon build up out of the intake manifold. Told me theres no way to cover it under the warranty. Absolutely ridiculous. I took it to clarkdale VW to get a second opinion, and after talking to the service guys there, they said a) $1000 is WAY to high a price for the job they wanted to do, and b) its likely another issue in the car such as a bad coilpack or injector (both covered under CPO warranty). Its apparent to me that capilano just wanted to scam me for $1000 bucks for something that isn't even the root cause of my check engine light coming on. I will never go back to Capilano because how can I trust them after this? Not to mention every time I tried to get information relating to the car out of the service advisors about WHY I needed this carbon clean done, they had the audacity to blame it on me putting "bad fuel" into the car. Absolute joke seeing how I have only owned the car for 10,000KM and put 91 or 94 Octane Chevron fuel in it. Don't bring your car to Capilano VW service, you will get ripped off. read more

Took my precious VW camper van in for oil change and tire rotation. Tires were virtually new and first rotation. First time at this place since moving from the Island. Drove my van to Portland and back and the tires they rotated came back completely bald on the inside. They deflected the blame on me or "potholes" or "I must have driven into something to knock the alignment out" etc. Basically treated me like I was some dumb woman who doesn't know anything about my vehicle or tires. Patronized, terrible service, and didn't offer any explanation or assistance. They lost out on a great customer as I am loyal to good companies. I also own 3 vehicles that need servicing! read more
