Tried fuel pump due to being recommended by my followers. Maybe I went on a really really REALLY…read morebad day but this is probably the worst matcha I've ever had. The service was nice enough but when I entered at 1PM on Friday. There were boxes everywhere. On the table tops, the menu board on the floor. There's no listed menu so you have to wait to get to the register to even see what they have. It really looked a mess in there and not like it was ready for patrons. I ordered my matcha which came out to almost $10!!!!! Imagine my surprise when the barista brings it out to me and it looks like swamp water and it tasted like diluted milk with a hit of matcha. I was so disappointed and I really wanted to ask for another drink cause $10 down the drain is tough but I just left. Based on the barista and the look of the establishment, it probably wasn't going to get any better. I'm really losing hope in getting matcha from cafes in Richmond. Truly so disappointing. I threw it away as soon as I walked out the door.

I've had several flavors, and I really like the cinnamon roll one the best. Their eggnog one over the holidays was delightful too. The space is on the smaller side inside, but they have a really nice patio area, perfect for the spring or fall. Service can be spotty depending on how busy they are, but overall they are friendly and doing their best! I'm happy to have Fuel Pump on my rotation.

Kindred Spirit Brewing is a worthy addition to the area, it just needs a few slight tweaks to…read morereally seal the deal. I came here as part of a regular group event recently since our usual Friday spot was otherwise occupied. I was a huge fan of Castleburg Brewery (the business that previously occupied this space), so I already knew what some of the good qualities would be: plenty of easy parking and lots of interior space for seating. They delivered on this with plentiful comfy seating, and the interior design is very unique (kind of has a space fantasy-like vibe to it. As a former bartender, I can appreciate how tough it is to simultaneously be approachable, witty, and informative about offerings, yet the bartender did all three perfectly, which tells me that she was likely either the owner or a higher-up at the company. She really made it a fantastic and personal experience with her recommendations and asking about my personal tastes. Full points on this, perfect service. I am a big fan of dark beers, so I opted for the darkest offering they had (which is great they even have one, since most bars abandon these gems as soon as it gets warm outside). Sadly I was not a huge fan of it as it was far too subtle of a flavor, though the creamy consistency was a nice consolation. Lesson learned, I'll give something else a try here next time. I did not opt for any food since the pizza was pretty small and $11, so I'll leave that for you to experience. I think between the location, parking, ambiance, service, and plentiful inside/outside seating they will do well. I do hope they continue to experiment with new draft offerings and maybe implement some happy hour prices, as my inflation-addled brain still winces at $9 beers. Hope they do well! Overall: 4.0 stars ---- Pros: - Outstanding bartender service, probably the best I have had in years. - Great location with plentiful parking. - Fun ambiance and lots of comfy seating. Cons: - Prices are somewhat high, though it's hard to say what a craft beer should cost these days. Personally I think $9-$10 is high at the moment, and snack-size pizzas for $11 is definitely high. - Did not love the beer I chose but I'm going to give another one a try soon.

Appreciate how there is ample parking outside it - and that it is fairly "off-the-beaten-path" persay. I know their main location is a bit further out, but it was nice to be able to get a taste of it closer to home - an overall wonderful experience with good service, great beer, and a solid time :) also, space/futuristic-themed! How cool! It's really stunning inside.
