Bottleworks is a boutique shop for beer and wine operating along the same lines as Corks & Kegs and De Fles Winkel. It's a great place for folks who live in the Bon Air area and it's not far from major highways, either. It's about a 20-minute drive from downtown Richmond. I stopped in before Yelp Supper Club -- held at an eatery in the same shopping center -- last night to see if they had any cool sours on hand. At this point in my beer-drinking life I know I need to have my Untappd app out when making purchases because I've tried so many varieties. They didn't seem annoyed that I was analyzing each bottle before making any decisions. In fact, both guys working were super friendly, not invasive of my space, and offered great recommendations. I purchased a six-pack of a local raspberry sour to share, as well as a bottle from American Solera. Looking forward to both! Their selection is curated well and they also offer growler fills. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area. read more

Great selection of craft beer- with local six packs and singles as well as a rotating tap of beers for growlers, crowlers etc. We went here while getting take out in the same shopping center and the person there was very helpful and patient with us as we tried out beers and picked up a couple. My new favorite bottle shop and it's close to my house! Great selection of beer and wine, friendly staff, and very helpful! I know a lot about beer, but nearly nothing about wine. About 2 weeks ago was my wife's birthday and I wanted to get her some wine. I went into the store and gave as much detail on my wife's wine preference as I knew, which wasn't a lot. I told the gentleman that I wanted to get 12 bottles and he selected some reds, rosés, and a couple whites based on those examples I gave. He worked within my price range and made no attempt to oversell or push things I didn't need. All in all, It was an awesome experience, my wife was elated with her gift and so far, all the wines he chose have been winners with her! I even left with a six pack of one of my favorite beers I haven't been able to find easily. I'll be back here for sure! read more

Amazing beer and wine selection + the staff is excellent. Friendly, super knowledgeable and they always remember what I like and make great recommendations. The local beers are very well represented and they curate from so many excellent east coast breweries too. Music is great too and they have 15 or so taps with fresh beer that also refreshes regularly. This place is the best! Thanks guys! read more

We had been here once before and had a good experience so we were in the area and stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Upon walking in we were greeted. They have a huge variety of beers. You can make your own 6-pack or choose from their impressive selection of beers in cans and bottles. I like New England IPAs and they were very helpful in pointing out the big variety they had and where they were from and some stories behind some of the breweries. I went in thinking I would get a 6 pack and came out with 4 4 packs of cans. The customer service was really good. You can also try many of the beers that are available for sale and get your growler filled. Highly recommend, wish this place was closer to where I live. read more

Hello! I was practically doing cartwheels when i found this place and the incredibly informed owner/manager. So I will admit that I'm one of those "issue" people (dietary problems and trust me I wish I didn't have them). However, I USED to be the only girl at cocktail parties drinking beer while other folks drank wine b/c hey, I went to UF and, well, SEC girl here... we drink brewskis. Anyhow... when belly maladies hit (sorry for the long tale but it's relevant), then my ability to have a cold one while watching the big game sadly evaporated. And sorry, but Gen X girl here - no White Claw for me. hehe!!Then... somewhere in my reading I read...there is such a thing as GLUTEN FREE BEER!!! Oh wow - I'm back. Can someone please bring me nachos?? And then... Bottleworks. Not only do they carry GF beer, they carry three types. Insofar as beer in general, there are so many (since most reading this won't give a flip about GF...) let me tell you, this place has hundreds, I dare say a thousand different types of beer from all over the world and local too. Plus the nice gentleman owner knows so much about what he has in stock. Just ask him a question - he's a trove of knowledge. read more

Bottleworks offers a huge selection of beers you can't find anywhere else in town. The staff is super knowledgeable and make great recommendations on things you should try if you like X. Reward yourself and stop in for a growler or 4 pack next time you're in the area. read more

Great selection here and very friendly staff. Whenever I go in they are happy to help me find a certain type of beer or let me taste what they have on tap. I'm happy there's a store like this in the area! Definitely worth a stop for beer lovers. read more

My husband and I visited here yesterday. It's fantastic to have a local beer shop so close to our house. They have a large selection of beer, some wine and cheese, they even carry a pineapple cider I was after (I thought I was going to have to go all the way to Wegmans to get). They are also a couple bucks cheaper then the competition a few thousand yards away. We will definitely be back! read more

Convenient location for this Bonairian. Diverse selection of 16 rotating taps for growler fills at favorable pricing. The website Trinkin has updated list of offerings. I have not yet explored the packaged product offerings. read more

You'll find microbrews in 6-packs, build your own 6-packs, 22-oz bottles, new releases, imports, and local brews. It looks like a typical convenience store, and you'll find a few chips and breath mints, but the focus is on beers and wines. There were plenty of wines, but I can't vouch for the quality. My eyes were on the beers. It's almost as good as those premium specialty beer stores!

Since moving here there have been all kinds of crazy top-tier drops: Cantillon, rarer 3F's, Fidens, Trillium, in addition to ongoing deliveries of highly rated beers (you're practically guaranteed to find a handful of beers rated 4.2+ on Untappd any time you walk in here). There's a good mix of local and non-local beers as well. I find it can be detrimental to focus TOO much on local beer. I also think they've nailed the size, both in terms of inventory and physical space, because product seems to move at an ideal pace. I've rarely come across too-old beer, which happens quite often in many beer shops. This is THE place to get beer in the area.

Okay, that's a little dramatic but that's what happened in my head as I've never laid eyes on such a beautiful ABC store! I'm used to the boring aisles with bottles lined up, uncomfortable mirrors so the clerks make sure no one is stealing and pretty much no décor other than some random cardboard advertisements for liquor but NOT THIS PLACE! They had a beautiful set up of seasonal liquor displayed at the entrance. A tasting bar built in. A beautiful display of airplane bottles on one wall and actual décor on the walls that made me want to say "I'LL TAKE ONE OF EVERYTHING!". If that wasn't enough, a salesman asked if I needed help and when they couldn't locate a bottle of pumpkin liqueur that I needed, he called a location down the street and had them hold it for me. Way to go ABC store, now if you renovate all locations like this, I'll be speechless!

There are parking spots out front, a bus stop, and you can bring your bike inside to shop. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I usually come for local brews, nightingale ice cream sandwiches, or a bike tune up. I love the little local markets we have all around RVA, and the fact that this one doubles as a bike shop is so cool to me. Their bike shop people are down to earth and really help you with any bike needs/concerns you may have. I'd recommend getting your bike fixed here if you're looking for a place. ***PRICE*** Market goods are a bit on the pricier side (think Whole Foods), but they have local and organic products. And it's always great to support a local shop. I haven't gotten a bike tune up from them in a while, but I remember it feeling like a reasonable price. My partner recently had a chain link replaced and brake tune-up and that came out to $30. ***CONCLUSION*** I love Outpost. It's cute, trendy, and local. It does a beautiful job at combining all things Richmond and bikes under one roof.

I got myself an egg and cheese sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit (delicious, by the way) with pepper jack cheese, veggies (tomato, lettuce, and avocado), and for a dollar extra, one of their vegan breakfast sausage patties. I was immediately impressed by how flavorful the patty was- you get a crispness upon the first bite and then the creaminess of the beans afterwards. It was absolutely incredible in a way I can't even describe. I also got the Thai iced coffee, which tasted as sweet as a typical Thai iced tea, yet in coffee form. I may only be spending a few days in Richmond, but I'm absolutely coming back next time I'm here to try more things. DIVINE! The woman behind the counter was super sweet too.
