TL;DR This is the most incompetently managed doctor's office I have ever had the misfortune of…read morefrequenting. They wasted an astronomical amount of my time. The only positive thing I can say about it is that the staff themselves are polite and pleasant in interactions. And thank GOD I have an understanding workplace, because I ended up wasting an entire morning every time I had to return here for an appointment. I'm sure lots of other people are not so lucky. When I was 13 weeks pregnant, I was diagnosed with a slight arrhythmia via echocardiogram. They wish to do some follow-up tests to ensure it was not too serious and would not create complications during my pregnancy. I was well into my 3rd trimester before they finally finished those tests. Every time I went to this office, I waited at least 45 minutes past my appointment time, even though I was usually one of the first patients of the day, and then would wait an additional 20 minutes after my appointment before I could see anyone about scheduling my next appointment. I understand that busy offices get behind, but when they are consistently 45 minutes "behind" first thing in the morning...there's a special kind of incompetence happening somewhere. First attempt: picked up monitor. Waited a long time before and after appointment to have monitor placed and follow-up scheduled. Returned monitor. Returned for follow-up, usual long wait, only to be informed that the machine had only recorded 45 minutes and we would have to try again. I ask if I will be charged for the re-attempt; they say no. Second attempt: Picked up monitor. Same long wait times. Return monitor. Go in for follow-up. They attempt to charge me. I argue, they eventually figure it out. I finally get called back. They inform me that this time, the monitor only recorded 15 minutes. They told me then that this had been a recurring issue with their heart monitors, and they were working on getting new machines in. Which I can understand, but if this has been a recurring issue, why on EARTH would you not be checking the tests as they come in to see if they actually recorded anything, before having patients show up for their follow-ups? Sent me out for another long waiting period before scheduling me for a 3rd time, this time a month out so their new machines would be available for me to use. 3rd attempt: They call me when I'm halfway to their office. They do not have a machine available and need to reschedule. 4th attempt: Another long wait. The return date is tricky for me because of my work schedule so I ask what is the latest I can return the monitor. Nurse tells me 5:30. This is later than their normal hours. I clarify, "5:30 pm?" and she says yes. This time the wait to schedule the follow-up is so long, and I have other appointments to keep, that I finally stand up and inform them I need to leave. They are suddenly able to schedule my follow-up. I attempt to return the heart monitor on the specified date at 5:15pm. The door is closed. Locked. The office is empty. I call the office, intending to leave a message so they at least have a record that I returned on the day and at a time they told me I could. Their office does not have an answering machine. I return first thing the next business day to return the monitor. The staff seems baffled that I was told I could return the heart monitor after 5. Fortunately I am not charged. We're up to 9 total trips now, because each test takes at least 3: pick up monitor, return monitor, follow-up. The day before my final follow-up I call the office and ask them to check my chart to see if I have results. The nurse says "We would have called you to reschedule if the test failed." As if I'm stupid. The only reason I called was precisely because they DID NOT CHECK THE OTHER TWO TIMES. 10th and final trip: They try to charge me again. I argue. It takes a long time but they finally figure it out. I get my results. They offer to print me out a copy so I can give it to my OB. I accept. I wait. They finally call me forward to...schedule a follow-up in a year to check on the arrhythmia. I ask again for a print-out of my records. They give them to me. I leave. I will go see another cardiologist in a year to check on my heart but I am never coming back here.
