She prescribed two medicines ( including several other combinations) that should not have been prescribed because I have had approximately 20% drop in my kidney function by taking it. I informed her that I stopped it in August 24 because I was having heart palpitations. She was trying to treat blood pressure and improve kidney function with one medication. I did not pick up one of the medications because it had been red flagged by the pharmacist. He advised me not to take it. My last visit to her in January 2025 lasted for about five minutes of her time. She told me to come back in February in spite of the fact that my blood pressure was now normal because she had honored my request to double the original blood pressure that I have been taking for over 50 years. I missed the February appointment because the cab did not arrive. That was a good thing for me because she then denied my two prescriptions (meanspirited), saying that I had to come in. Meanwhile I had to go to several doctors for other ailments like severe ear infection, wart and muscle spasm--and to the emergency room for elevated blood pressure. I sent her a photo of the reading and she lowered it in her notes. My blood pressure is fine and I am now trying to reverse the kidney function. I complained to George Washington University Primary Care and they were complicit.

When they transitioned to primary care and I had an urgent need to find a new advanced care practitioner, I came here and found Tayler Young, who is excellent. She is patient, thorough and very attentive to her patient's needs and limits. She is now basically our "family doctor". The staff here has also always been very professional, courteous and helpful. I know some are frustrated it's no longer a walk-in clinic, but once you're a patient, it's fairly easy to make appointments, get refills, etc., through MyChart. I would definitely recommend and am happy this place is part of my healthcare team.

Tiny rooms, horrible parking situation, bad location…read more Unless you are taking metro, it's really not accessible friendly if you need to get here for any kind of testing or any kind of stay. Doctors that performed the surgery never came back to speak to us. Acute PT got frustrated when we said we would need more than one week for a broken hip and arm, left the room in a huff and quite upset because we needed more long term PT care for an elderly person who couldn't walk nor use a bathroom solo. Nurses hardly ever brought anything that was requested i.e. ice bags, ice water, or juice cups. They left an elderly person with a broken arm to try and open food containers on their own when food was dropped off rather than assist with opening containers so she never really ate much because she had no help. This place is an absolute disaster for elderly patients. Quality of overall patient care was not good and if it wasn't the only place we could go for the complicated surgeries she needed, we would have definitely picked a different hospital.

I have been a patient at GW for more than five years now. Over this time, there have been many…read morethings and people I truly appreciated about the hospital. However, it pains me to say that the quality of care, professionalism, and overall patient experience have declined significantly over the years. Last month, I had an appointment scheduled for 10:30 a.m. I arrived early, yet I wasn't seen until 1:15 p.m. There were no apologies, no consideration that I am 20 weeks pregnant, and no acknowledgment that I am a working professional who had taken time off from a full-time job. It seemed like none of that mattered. When I was finally seen, I was spoken to in a dismissive manner, as if the inconvenience caused was my fault. When I questioned the delay, I was told that they had patients back-to-back, but isn't that the very reason appointments are scheduled and spaced out? Now, at 24 weeks pregnant, I had an ultrasound scheduled for October 28th. I received a call saying the technician was unavailable and my appointment would need to be rescheduled for October 31st. Today, as I was on my way there, I received another call telling me it had to be rescheduled yet again, now for the second week of November. I also have another ultrasound scheduled around that time, and when I asked for clarification, I was simply told to "check if you still need the prior appointment." This is deeply concerning. Does a hospital not have backup staff or contingency plans in place to ensure patients are seen as scheduled? Does an entire department stop functioning because one person is unavailable? How is it acceptable that one staff member's absence disrupts care for all scheduled patients? It truly makes me question whether GW still takes its patients seriously. Has compassion and quality care become secondary? Are staff members no longer trained to communicate with empathy or handle patient concerns appropriately? It's disappointing to see such a reputable healthcare institution become increasingly careless about those who trust them with their health and well-being.

In the past the NPs would renew my medical supplies indefinitely because my condition is permanent. Now the doctor renews it for two deliveries. Went in twice, three times to ask them to complete paperwork for receiving medical supplies. They ignored my requests and/ or did not see them through. "I faxed it back but I don't do phone calls!" The doctor filled the form with an error and didn't want to contact the medical supplier. The previous doctor sent an email to a nurse but did not tell me anything. The doctor before that gave me a prescription for a box but had no idea that these medical supplies are from big box medical supply companies far away from DC. So they are clueless about a very basic medical need (ostomy bags) and how could I trust them about anything else? If they are so trivializing they have never offered a basic stool kit test, I have to SELF PAY EVERYTHING NOW. For a super low income this is just not very easy for me. I can order the stool kit test and bags from big box retailer online and no effing paperwork (yet). It's like I might as well not have? ‍

The nurse took my vitals and then told me to give a urine sample; I had to tell her that this was not a urine test. Then at 11:15, 45 minutes after my appointment and 2 hours after I called to make the appointment, they told me all their test kits that I needed were expired and that I should go to the other Medics USA. They claimed they would call that location to let them know I was coming, but as far as I could tell that did no good, as I still waited over 90 minutes at the second location (where service was even worse, will write a separate review).

I can count on every time I come in getting seen at least 45 minutes after my appointment time despite the place never appearing busy. The male nurse does not know how to take blood properly and not only hit a nerve causing my whole arm to become sore (which never happens if taken properly), but I became extremely sick and light headed because of that and because it was so hot in the office. After I was left with a huge bruise on my arm. The male doctor (I'm bad with names) is one of those doctors that start by naming all the most serious conditions that could possibly be related to your issue first to freak you out and then ends with "or it could be a lab error or fluke". Says you need to come back so he can run a full battery of tests, but then when you do he claims the issue is actually not remotely related to what he originally freaked you out about in the first place. In my case it went from you could possibly have Hepititus C to "Oh it's because you're drinking too much vegan protein powder", but let's take more blood to confirm. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are in dire need or have no other options.
