Capital Meat van just came through our neighborhood with three guys going door to to door. All of them looked shady to me. First, I do not buy meat from a truck and second, I don't buy products from door to door salesman. I told the man I don't buy meat from a truck and he said yes, you do. You buy it from your grocery store. I told him no we actually buy all of our meat from our local butcher shop. He was pushy and kept trying I "give me a deal." Thanks but no thanks! read more

Horrible. Bought 4 ribeyes and when I opened them 1 was a fake ribeye (low quality meat cut to look like one). The meat is packed in some sort of brine that leaves a terrible flavor. And when you thaw them water pours out. Worst meat at the worst pricEd. Don not buy! read more

I've worked with a lot of meat from Capital Meat as a Butcher. Not sure about all the old reviews, but they do things differently now I think. We have fresh meat delivered from Capital through JW Treuth and Shanendoah Farms Our customers appreciate the product they offer for grass-fed beef. I wish I could give this a negative mark. This is the absolute WORST meat I've ever had. I bought some last year & forgot to write a review. They just came by again & I told the guy ABSOLUTELY NOT. Told him it was the worst meat I've ever TRIED to eat & to NEVER come to my doorstep again. This meat was terrible. My husband & I couldn't eat it. Even the filet minon was HORRIBLE. I ended up giving it to a friend of mine that has a dog. Told her she was welcome to try it herself which she did & ended up giving it to her dog. Even the chicken was terrible. The pieces were so small I had to use half of what I bought for 1 meal plus it was full of fat. GROSS. DO NOT BUY THIS MEAT. NASTY NASTY NASTY!!! I tell you what! I used to think buying food off the back of a truck was wrong until I had some of these steaks and the pork was great! The salesman told me that all food comes off the back of a truck when I told him I don't buy off the back of a truck and I'm glad I did! If a Capital Meat truck pulls into your place of work, do not answer the door - in fact, you should lock it. Never have I had a more disturbing and unsettling experience with an overly aggressive and angry door to door salesman. As I pulled into work, a Capital Meats van was waiting outside of the door. A men got out of the van and yelled "what's up midget" to me because I am 5'3 and then tried to fist bump me. I asked him if I knew him and if he had an appointment with someone at the office while I walked into the building and he said he did and that he comes here every christmas season. He followed me in the door and proceeded to the first desk aggressively asking her questions. She felt so uncomfortable that she spoke up an said, "excuse me sir, but I don't know you" and he got angry and more aggressive. He started to make his way through the entire building and disregarded my attempts to stop him from doing so. When everyone within ear shot of him told him they did not wish to purchase anything, I asked if he had a pamphlet he could leave for our employees to look at and he very aggressively said "Thanks for asking me to leave" and made a few other nasty comments I will not repeat as he made his way to the door. This man made me feel unsafe enough that I had to ask someone to walk me to my car when leaving work that day. If this sales rep is any representation of this company as a whole, I would stay as far away as you can. read more

Capital Meats trolls the neighborhood in a van, claiming that a customer cancelled an order and that they are willing to sell you meat at half price. They show you a brochure with astronomical meat prices. They do not give you a price per pound. If you buy, you will find that only some of the meat is USDA graded. All of it is swollen with water and blood (15% by weight, according to the label.) The meat cannot be seared, as it releases a lot of water when cooked, it can only be steamed. The "bargain price" works out to be about $12 per pound for meat you could buy at an inexpensive grocery store for $4 per pound. Don't buy from Capital Meats. read more

Why isn't zero stars possible? They came to our door and were told to leave: we have an injured dog who cannot be (and was) disturbed by their ringing of the door bell. Fine. I hate door-to-door sales calls, but we informed them of the issue and asked them to leave. They came back: less than 24 hours later. We were less polite. Future calls will be treated as trespassing and harassment. This isn't just inconvenient--they are endangering our dog's life and were told so. Also, they ride around on the step of the van, clutching the driver's side door so they jump off and harass more people in less time. It's illegal and shows their level of professionalism. read more

If captial meat's products are soooooo good, why do they have to go door to door and beg people to buy from them. Dinner was interupted last night at 5 pm by a captial meats door to door salesmen. I felt bad for the guy he looked down on his luck, so i let him do his thing (instead of telling him to leave ASAP which is my normal response to door to door sales). My empathy for this guy( I work in legitmate sales) so I considered making a small purchase to help the guy out(after all hes just trying to make an living). Then he starts telling me how much to buy to 'get a good deal' and trying to bundle all these foods together to create savings. NO thanks. crappy sales tactics, crappy appearence, and crappy timing. My advice is capital meats opens a grocery store(that delivers) if they really stand behind their product. Portions were small, brown, definatly previously frozen, and not of nice qaulity(i was a sous chef for 7 years). and worst of all if they would save me money by buying more, then doesnt mean they are overcharging in the first place. Like I said, I work in sales, and iv worked in resturantes, and this company diserves zero of your money. Bought some Italian seasoned chicken and Fillets from Capital Meats salesman that came to my door. The chicken actually starting Foaming on the grill while it was cooking. I've been buying capital for 5 years now I must say this company has grown so much and has been able to meet our food needs its fast and convenient and saves us a lot of money buying in bulk we just bought a new case of beef they started carrying and I must say BEST YET fantastic beef can't wait to try the new seafood as well read more

This place sucks! Its a ripoff for one. And their door to door salesmen are the most unprofessional people I have ever met. They came to my house, rang my door bell, banged on my front door, then stepped away onto the lawn. I walked outside and said Oh I am sorry I already have home delivery service with another company. He said ok well you have something on your face. I said excuse me? He said you have something on your face, and walked away laughing at me. He was also wearing dirty shorts below his butt, dirty greasy t shirt, and old sneakers. This is how you want to present your product? I live in PA. Home is in the woods up a steep driveway. Can't see house from the road. No soliciting and beware of dogs at bottom of drive. Wouldn't that make you think twice about coming up my drive! Lucky I was in the garage and heard a car horn blowing. Thinking who the heck would it be. As I went outside the passenger rolled down his window. Starting giving me the spiel. I said didn't you see the signs. Which at that point, perfect timing. Our two dogs came flying around the corner barking like no tomorrow. Guy's eyes got white as a ghost. Window went flying up, driver started backing up as I pointed them back down the driveway. I tried calling Corp in CA. Went right to recorder. Held for 10 mins. I timed it. Hung up and picked Winchester VA # closest location to us. Van had VA plates. Called that number. (Different then CA). Went right to same CA # and recording. Held for 4 mins. I would like to report them for trespassing. I would give them a zero if possible! read more

don't do business with them, we have received salty seafood that were suppose to be crab legs and they were stinking and empty shells, like some took all the hulls and put them in a bag totally rotten seafood and fatty "Steak Burgers" that tasted like lard Made several calls and got a total run around. Greg has it spot on, both Jeremy and Donald are managers for them. The meat is not as advertised. The claim it is choice but most is not. Don't list to the bs about price per steak. It is away to get you to ignore the fact that you are paying 130 to 250(depends on how much they can scam you for) for 16lbs of meat, 1/3 of that weight is burger(80/20 at best not 90/10 like they try to say).
