Unfortunately, I had to give up my my membership after 6 years due to many factors! Rio del Oro only caters to kids which I completely understand! The only issue is the kids run the place and some of their parents support their bad behavior! I have observed over the years teenagers throwing heavy weights in the pool, a chair thrown in one of the pools, kids crossing lanes to interrupt adults doing lap swims, a young kids yelling as I went for another lap tell his mother mom that I said she was a bitch... I told her it didn't happen.. some dude told her that I didn't like didn't like kids A friend who was a member approached her to let her know she was absolutely beautiful and I never said this... I was accused of hating kids and that I couldn't speak English... etc... Along with saying do you know who I am... Unbelievable! Another member who was 20 minutes late, I let him know he lost his lane.. he got his in my face.. I kept on swimming at which time he tried to crash into me with his body to hurt me! No deck personnel to facilitate the rules! I have written so many incident reports... what's written on the schedule can change out on the deck. The masters swim took over the big pool when they are supposed to be in the 6 lane pool! I have felt like I was in the twilight zone me at this Club! The staff are wonderful.. Like I was told many times by the staff, I only work here.. they said we are the last to know... The staff makes Rio Del Oro awesome.. it's management failing to have deck personnel to rein in the kids and their parents! I have moved on to another gym which takes care of unruly kids and their parents! By the way, I have never ever written a bad review in my lifetime... I'm so glad I found this little boutique gym! I'm committed to 0730am classes, five days a week! I've taken classes with almost all the instructors/trainers here, but definitely love my mornings with Vee, Keith, and Juliette. I've been a member of this gym for years, and unfortunately I'm now seriously considering canceling…read moremy membership because of an issue that should have been very simple to resolve. For approximately two months, I have repeatedly raised concerns about the ventilation and fan settings in the HIIT Zone and the studios used for Zumba and cycling. These are intense, high-energy classes, yet the fans are running extremely slowly and appear to be set to pull the air upward rather than circulate it down into the workout area. During classes, the room becomes so uncomfortable that I often cannot make it through even half the class without feeling like I can't breathe properly or perform at my normal level. I spoke with staff members on three separate occasions and was told the issue would be addressed. I eventually spoke directly with the manager by phone and explained that I have a medical condition, including hypertension, and specifically asked whether the fan adjustment could be treated as an accommodation. I wasn't asking for anything complicated. I simply asked them to increase the fan speed during these intense classes or, since the fan controls are locked inside a cage, allow appropriate access so the fan could be increased during class and lowered afterward if energy cost was the concern. The manager told me that he would increase the fan speed immediately after our phone call. Unfortunately, nothing changed. What is most disappointing is that I have been trying to resolve this for about two months. I didn't immediately leave a negative review--I spoke to staff multiple times and then management because I genuinely wanted to give the gym an opportunity to fix the problem. I really hate the idea of leaving because Dom and Joy teach some of my favorite classes and they are excellent trainers. But paying for a membership when I cannot properly participate in the classes because of inadequate airflow doesn't make sense. At this point, I'm considering canceling my membership and finding a gym that takes members' concerns seriously, especially when someone has clearly explained that the issue affects a medical condition. After years of membership, I expected better communication and a reasonable effort to resolve something as simple as adjusting a fan. The 2 stars are for Dom and Joy

I was never directed to email instead or given the updated phone number. If email is your primary channel, that should be clearly communicated across all platforms. I was also informed via Yelp messages and Instagram DM that the phone number was changed 6-7 months ago. Referring to this publicly as "recently updated" is not transparent. As of today, the number still has not been updated on your website or Yelp. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Every call went straight to voicemail and I was unable to reach anyone directly. Since I couldn't get through by phone, I reached out on IG. The responses were not helpful. The classes never appeared in my Mindbody account. I mentioned that it wasn't showing in my account and I even tried logging in/out. This should've confirmed that I have an account with them already, but I kept receiving repetitive troubleshooting questions instead of a clear resolution. In addition, the classes are consistently very packed. On multiple occasions, the spacing was so tight that I was physically touching other people's toes, and my toes were being touched too. It felt overcrowded and uncomfortable. While the business did respond to messages, the overall experience felt disorganized and frustrating, especially after already paying for the package. I've had a similar issue in the past and it was also complicated to get the issue resolved. Overall, the customer service has not been helpful, which makes it hard to fully enjoy this studio.

What they don't have in corporate gyms they make up for creative exercises. They have TRX, Bootcamps, personal training, and Kickboxing classes. I attended a few football parties and Halloween parties they threw pre-lockdown. It doesn't feel so "bro" gym here--everyone was welcomed regardless of fitness level. They allow pets to hang out while you work out which is a plus. Jose, the owner has his own dog that's there everyday and it's nice to see her. It is a big warehouse building that has three bay doors so they're able to remain open during lockdown. They moved some workouts outside for more space. Jose is nice and does personal training. I always enjoy doing boxing as a personal session. Jose is very accommodating. It's a great gym to belong. Call and check for any new member openings. Right now, it's limited but they have a waiting list. They also follow and practice pandemic guidelines to keep members safe.
