I went to this gym years ago and left a bad review on yelp. I'll sum up my experience in a brief anecdote: I fell on the treadmill and my head bounced on it for a long time and the owner didn't say a thing or ask me if I was okay after. I left a bad review and the owner harassed me after and was beyond hostile in her response. I have never forgotten the way this awful person made me feel. Shame on you for treating a paying customer like dirt for writing a bad review. I am sad to see you're still in business. read more

What a great gym and more! Not only is the whole place exceptionally clean but I like that it's only open to us ladies which made me feel really comfortable. I had a spa day there that included a 30 min circuit workout, sauna, 30 min massage and facial. I enjoyed my time there! read more

Like others have said, this place is super, super clean. I'm still on my trial period (10 days for $20) but I'm about 98% sure I'll sign up for a full membership once my 10 days are up. It's smaller and a little pricier than say, 24hr Fitness, but I like it. You can come here and work out without having to wait for the cardio machines to free up and you can work here in peace. Plus, each cardio machine has its own tv with a little adapter for your ear/headphones. They also offer other services such as personal training, tanning, pilates and massages at reasonable prices. I just left Sacramento having been a member of Figure 8 for the past 2 years and I am going to miss it greatly. This is the best gym I have ever belonged to, and I have been a member of many places. Having a women's only gym makes for a really pleasant environment free of a meat market feel that pervades in other, larger gyms. The staff is great and the other services they offered--training, Pilates, massage, tanning facials, etc seemed reasonably priced though I never used them. The gym is pretty small, but even at peak times in the evening has sufficient cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes). The built-in TVs at each machine with cable are an added perk. In terms of strength training, the gym is not quite as well stocked as some others, but definitely had everything I needed as a fairly serious weight lifter. They also have a nice supply of bands, balls, balance boards, and other equipment. It also seems they offer a family membership which seems like a great way for mothers and teen daughters to work out together. The place is immaculate and the locker room is quiet with private changing areas. You can bring a lock and use the lockers, which were big enough to fit a decent-sized gym bag. Overall, I highly recommend Figure 8 Women's Workout. If I am ever living in the area again I will re-join for sure. It is a great environment to work out in and the monthly dues are very reasonable. read more

I agree with the previous reviewer and will keep my comments relatively brief except to say that I love my gym! I should also tell you that the people (owner, employees, patrons) are super-nice, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and even though it is a little small it never feels cramped. The personal trainer Nicki is great and her services are priced very fairly. Grab a time slot with her while you can. It is indeed quite clean and I've never had a problem with the equipment. I love love love the fact that each cardio machine has its own tv so I can go and catch up on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report (or a little bit of my guilty pleasure, E!) while I work out. Figure 8 is reasonably priced, well-run, and is open on Sat/Sun if you can get your butt out of bed before 1pm (harder than it sounds). It is a women only gym which is something I wasn't necessarily looking for but as it turns out is pretty nice. Something to do with the comfort level, I suppose. This is really a great neighborhood treasure and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in starting to work out, resuming working out, or wanting to change gyms. I've been wanting to yelp about this gym for a while and finally have some time during winter break. I love this gym. It has all the basic tools you need to stay fit, and it's always clean. There is room to stretch and the music is good if you forget your ipod. You can work out anytime - it's like having your own private gym. Figure 8 has a personal trainer. private pilates instructor and massage therapist by appointment. There are 3 tanning beds and a locker room with a shower. The gym doesn't offer group classes, but I'm fine with that because I like to mix it up with different yoga and pilates experiences. To sum it up, FIgure 8 is a great value for my gym dollar because there is nothing preventing me from going - except my own lame excuses. read more

I completely agree with the prior reviewers so I'll just add a few comments. Owner and her staff are AWESOME. They are super friendly and seem actually eager to help. At other gyms, the staff has acted like I've "putting them out" by asking for another towel or something. Whatever. I love that they have free weights (in a range of weights) and Nautilus-type machines, so you have options. Lots of the "ladies only" gyms skip on the free weights or just have super light ones (1.5-3 lbs). The "weights" area, like the cardio machines, is never cramped/crowded. I haven't taken advantage of the on-site esthetician yet but I hear she's great. I do love that they sell Dermalogica right there, though - super convenient if you've run out of moisturizer and don't feel like making that extra stop on the way home. So glad to be a member here! read more

Figure 8 is a great place for any woman to come to-regardless of fitness level. The gym is open 24-7 and rarely is packed. They have nice flat screen tv's on each cardio machine which helps the time fly by when working out. They also have weights and all types of equipment. They have trainers, massage, facials, art for sale, and the best part-it is super clean! The only negative I can think of is that no classes are offered. read more

Figure 8 is the best deal that I found around my area. I work in the Alhambra Athletic Club plaza and went in to find out some of their deals. Everything was nice inside, but man! I'm not going to pay $70/month. I've drove by Figure 8 while going to and from Curtis Park to my home. It always looks really dark inside, so I was never sure if it was open or not. I called them one day and the lady on the phone was super nice! We talked for a long while about the gym. Like the previous reviewer I paid for my membership up front for the whole year. It's always clean and friendly inside. I love how you have your own little tv on each machine. It's also only three blocks from my home! read more

I've been a loyal customer for a little over 6 months with Figure 8. I was happy to find an all women's 24 hour gym. It was clean and never crowded. I called in to make an appointment with Alicia the owner who gave me a rushed tour of the place and said she had to go because she had another appointment. Questions were answered with a attitude, and did not really seem to care if I joined or not. I ignored my gut and decided to join anyway. I enjoyed my workouts there despite there being no wifi for music, no water fountains, and limited weight machines. My sister was in town one day and she came in to work out with me one day. Alicia approached me in front other members and said I signed the wrong clipboard that credits for water bottles then immediately asked who was next to me and I politely explained she was my sister visiting from out of state for the day. She said, "What makes you think you can do that? You can't just bring anyone in here. Its 10 dollars for a guest." I apologized and said the policy was never explained to me and my sister offered to pay the 10 dollars. And Alicia said, "No, I will be charging it to her account. This is a liability on me, would you do this somewhere else?" I could not believe the attitude from the owner and unprofessionalism. I would have a appreciated a private talk to go over the policy which she didn't take the time to do during our tour or when I signed up, especially being a loyal customer. It was very hurtful and disappointing to be treated in such an aggressive manner. This is not a neighborhood friendly community gym, do not let the 5 stars fool you. Save $60 and find another gym. read more

I have been coming here since Sept. 2011. I love this gym. It is so clean and well managed by Alicia who is super nice. They have all the equipment needed to get a great work out in. I love that it is an all women gym so there's no need to feel self conscious and everyone just goes in and does their own thing. You get a card key so you can time your workouts whenever you want 24 hours/day. I have never had to wait for a machine. I have never been in better shape in my life either and actually see muscle definition now. You can tan if you're into that too, and they have personal trainers/pilates instructors that are available for extra charge. I've never taken advantage of that myself, but I see them working out the ladies and they are very patient and nice and seem to make them feel at ease. I like watching tv with my headphones on while I'm doing cardio on the elliptical machine or treadmill. This place keeps me coming back with a regularity I never had with other gyms. read more

I've been a member here since they first opened - over 8 years! I love the gym - it's super clean, the machines always work and the bikes, treadmills and ellipticals each have their own tv. There is a wide array of equipment, including kettlebells, a TRX station, and Pilates machines, along with personal trainers - I've used one of the personal trainers and am currently taking lessons with the pilates instructor - both experiences have been top notch! I also love the new fitness studio they just opened in midtown - great classes, nice schedule and fab instructors! read more
