They do not stand behind their appliances. Sold us an expensive defective stove. They hide behind emails , they blame the manufacturer and never take responsibility for anything. Salespeople are very charming in the showroom but that changes when there is an issue with their products. Their response is to buy an extended warranty if there is an issue. We discovered during home renos that a previous appliance purchase from Caplans came with an incorrect power cord that had melted. The salesperson had also recommended the installer as well offering us a deal on delivery if using their installer. Never dealing with Caplan's again. read more

We schedule the kitchen renovation , so that we can install the cooktop on May 23, 2024( birthday surprise for my wife). Unfortunately, the sales agent Mr. Brendan Crossy never called. We called up and ask them when will be the delivery on May 14, 2024, and said it will be a long weekend holiday on Victoria day, ( they better close their store for bankrupt holiday, very poor service, Never go to Caplan). Now we dont have the cooktop, we cannot cook since May 23, 2024, now they said , they will deliver and install on June13, 2024. two months delayed, and God knows the suffering we have to undergo physically and mentally without the cooktop. Hungry and Angry . Caplan only knows to sell, but no service after you pay. Please stay away from trouble that Caplan will do to you. Avoid Caplan. CAPLAN'S APPLIANCES - NEVER BUY FROM THEM. After five months of fighting and finally having to talk about contacting consumer advocy, Caplan's has decided to do what they should have in August. It was not easy as they tried very hard to dismiss us - telling us "This was not something they cover". This was the most horrible customer service I have ever experienced. After waiting for four months for something we were told would be a two week wait, we took delivery of a new refrigerator. Upon installation, we had concerns as it would not seal properly and were leaving for a three week holiday. A neighbor checked on our house and found a foul smell, discovered the unit/compressor had failed and we lost an entire refrigerator of food and medications. We had to come back from our holiday to deal with this. A replacement unit arrived and it had a tear in the waterline. A (second) brand new Whirlpool unit had a tear in the water line and Caplan's did not go to bat for us on this with Whirlpool. We had to accept repair and we had to negotiate (and threaten) Whirlpool to get an extension on the warranty. Caplan's refused to compensate us for the $800 of lost items, the President of the company would not speak to or write me and there was a complete dismissal of our loss. Not unitl I threatened to contact consumer advocates did I get any consideration. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM CAPLANS NOR WHIRLPOOL AGAIN. YOU SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THEM. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR BRAND AND HAVE THE POOREST OF BUSINESS ACUMEN. I ran a business for thirty years - when we messed up, we acknowledged it and did the right thing. My family was in the furniture business for over 50 years. My father told me many times that customer service is more important than advertising in building a business. A satisfied customer will recommend you to others. Unfortunately, Caplan's only talks customer service, they don't supply it. My experience with Caplan's has shown that once they deliver your order, they want nothing more to do with you. The big box stores provide after sale service. I have dealt with Lowe's and Home Depot. Both provided the service that Caplan's refuses to provide. If you have high blood pressure, stay away from Caplan's. I will only deal with big box stores from now on. read more

On June 16  23 I purchased a stackable Blomberg stackable washer and dryer and installed it on June 16, 23 for my townhouse which is in a townhouse complex. The dryer never  fully heatedThe report from Distinctive stated it was caused by low voltage/ amps.Did not make sense since I was replacing the older stackable  washer and dryer Countless hours in reaching out and incurring additional costs of hiring a master electrician and having the property management electrician review the issue. The  results,it was contrary to the Distinctive  diagnoses of 200 amps too low  Erica Capodilupoi was the only one who took my concern seriously After 7 months of numerous calls and emails, I received a refund Although I was told the cheque was in the mail as of Feb 22, I had to go down and pick it up personally. on March 13, 2024 I am still waiting for the arrival cheque in the mail. I ended up going to your competitor and purchased a GE stackable washer and dryer. It was installed they changed the hoses ( which your service men did not) and they tested it that it was operating as advertised and with the guidelines of the manufacturer. Super-mixed reviews. They gave us fantastic deals, but our store level rep, Faouzi was a total liar. He lied to us over and over again at various stages after ordering, about whether our stuff was in the warehouse or not. Said many times he had personally seen it, and then we found out it was back-ordered and not even available in north america. Ranted about other crappy reps who sold people appliances where the clock colour didn't match, and then ended up recommending ones that don't match. Wouldn't return emails, etc. So many other things, too. But I won't list everything. BUT the sales manager Gregg was fantastic and solved everything for us. So I would shop hear again. But stay away from Faouzi, who will do/say anything to get a sale, and then completely desert you afterwards. read more

BUYER BE AWARE!! Absolutely terrible service. Spoke to a sales person about buying a Miele dishwasher. All I wanted was for him to confirm that the dishwasher will work with my current panel. His installer said it will however when I asked him if an odd chance it does not work will you take the dishwasher back they said no. He proceeded to say "He was not desperate for the sale and we were spending way too much time when all we had done was spent 10 mins on the phone." When it comes to superior quality customer service Caplan's is second to none. We purchased our appliances a few months ago: a fridge, stove, microwave, bar fridge, and dishwasher. Mario, a gentleman of expert knowledge, helped us with our purchases, ensuring that we had the proper appliances for our needs. Caplan's have an extensive range from high-end to more economically priced appliances, and we were able to find everything we needed, with no pressure. We are excited to learn how to use our Sub-Zero stove in the separate cooking building, where Deborah, a trained chef, will demonstrate the workings of the appliance. We also met Mrs. Caplan, a lovely lady, and the manager. The manager, Steve, gave us his card and encouraged us to contact him, should we have any questions or concerns. Our appliances were delivered by Caplan's, again, excellent service. There was a problem with the installation, however, in that the installer miscalculated the distance of the counter. When he pushed the bar fridge in, he chipped the lower panel of the counter. I was distraught. We hadn't even moved back into our brand-new kitchen yet, and the installer sloughed off my agitation, claiming the panel could be fixed. He didn't offer to fix it himself, though, nor did he offer to help pay for a new panel. The installer did not work for Caplan's, directly, although they had recommended him. So, I didn't think it was Caplan's responsibility, but I told Mario so he wouldn't recommend him again. I received a phone call from Mario and Greg, the sales manager. They requested pictures of the damage which I then sent. They apologized profusely, thanked me for my patience, and told me to order a new panel. They would cover the cost, whatever it was, entirely. They also paid for the installation of the panel - this was $508.00, that cut into their profits. I was beyond thrilled. In this day and age, it is rare to find such outstanding customer service as Caplan's offers. I have never encountered another company that goes to such lengths to ensure that their customers leave completely satisfied and happy. read more

I am building a house outside of the city and wanted to price out the appliances so I went into this business to discuss. There are no prices in the store which was my first red flag. These people just make up their own prices depending on who is buying?? A sales person basically didn't want to deal with me because I told them I was just on a pricing mission and not buying that day. I asked him to price out a full kitchen totalling more than 15k (I assume since they don't post prices), he wouldn't do it on the spot so I left my email and number etc and never heard from him again. After our fridge suffered an unceremonious death, we decided now was the chance to switch all our white appliances to the more modern look of stainless steel. We were looking for a fridge, gas convection stove, dishwasher and microwave. We looked at several large furniture stores, large chain appliance stores, independent appliance stores and the selection was just overwhelming, plus, the price points were comparable. We ventured into an appliance store in Vaughan on Highway 7 (near 427) that was HUGE. After walking around looking for at least 1/2hr, a staff member approached us and explained features of various brands. We budgeted $5,000 but the brand he steered us towards came in at just over $6,200 (GE Café series). We told him we would need think about it and left the store and ran to some of the other places we'd been to just to comparative shop. As the prices were similar (overall total when all the appliances were factored in) we decided to go back and buy from this person (as he was exceptional) but then we remembered we didn't look at Caplans. Upon entering the store we discovered that on this particular day, a rep. from GE was in-house so all GE appliances were on sale. The Cafe style that we had decided on were on sale for $4,800...plus they threw in a free bar/entertainment fridge. Once we saw the price, we raced up to the counter to order. The sales rep. was a bit surprised that we were placing an order without talking to a salesman and started explaining the various features each appliance had..so we explained to him that we had already done our research and this by far was the best price. He was great and told us to go downstairs and decide on whether we wanted a wine fridge or bar fridge. We opted for the bar fridge. We were promised a delivery date in a few days, which was fine with us. We tried to give away for free our existing gas stove (convection), dishwasher and microwave (through Kijiji and Craiglist), but people thought that we were also a delivery company who would drive miles to deliver free items to them...so it never panned out. We called Caplans about removal of existing appliances and they said they would remove them for us for free...which they did. All in all, an excellent price with fulfilled promises. Still feel guilty though that someone else steered us towards this product which we purchased elsewhere, but saving $1,400 makes it easier...... read more

I can't believe how truly awful my experience with Caplan's has been. They came to install a washer/dryer, and just placed them in our apartment, tore up a portion of our floor dragging the machines, and left. We were told that the portion of floor that they destroyed would be covered by Caplan;s. We needed to ask for a second delivery team to actually install the machines, then their customer service reps, Jennifer Barwell, and Stephanie Quan, accused us of mischaracterizing the damage to our apartment and accused us of playing "tricks." We bought a KitchenAid fridge from Caplan's about 20 months ago.  The salesperson was pleasant and helpful but we had our 8th service visit for the fridge today.  On top of the unreliability, we can not store much food in the fridge becaue it freezes up.   It is a total lemon and Caplan's will not back what they sell.  We purchased an extended warranty for this fridge which means Caplan's just refer us to Comerco who in turn use a company called TransGlobal Service.  I would expect years of trouble-free operation from a fridge.  Bottom line, Caplan's do not stand behind their products.  Do yourself a favour and buy from a big box store who will do returns. read more

Another outstanding experience with Caplan's! A number of years back, I bought a dishwasher here. And the start-to-finish was excellent. My fridge died last week, and after doing some field research closer to me, I contacted Caplan's to see what they could do. It was a custom order, and I had it delivered today, within days of my initial inquiry. AND at the best price anywhere I could find in person or online! Serious props go out to Matthew Hebert, who was amazing in giving me the initial quote and delivery info on the phone, and in following through with the delivery and post-delivery. He is THE BEST. And also? The delivery team today were absolutely outstanding. I did not get their names, but I am sure the owner can find them. Tough east end Toronto with narrow homes and walkways, and they made it happen without showing one sign of stress, and a very respectful experience. Do NOT buy from these shysters! Our home builder bought over $12,000 of appliances from these guys and when the $1,800 Bosch dishwasher was installed it wouldn't work due to an electrical issue within the unit. I appealed to them to replace the unit as I don't want a lemon after paying so much for a dishwasher to no avail. It's been a month now and still no resolution to the broken dishwasher in our kitchen. They will only go through Bosch to repair the unit apparently. If I had used any major retailer (Sears, HD or Lowes), I would have simply returned it for a unit that works. But these people at Caplans do nothing for the customer, do no back the products they sell in any way, shape or form and are very difficult to deal with. My recommendation.... Horrific Experience: I bought a Bosch dishwasher from Caplan's an entire MONTH ago....it arrived dead-on-arrival with a broken control panel, and am still trying to have the problem resolved with no end in sight. After paying an installer for 3 separate visits trying to figure out why the dishwasher would not turn on, I contacted Caplans and spoke with a "customer service" (words used very loosely) named Liz. Liz advised me that it was my problem and that Caplan's woudn't do anything for me, despite the fact Caplan's sold me a defective dishwasher. I was told I had to deal with Bosch myself, and no help was offered. I spoke with Bosch, spending a couple of hours on the phone trying to deal with them, and I was told to call one of their warranty agents for them to try to repair. After the 4th phone call (1st 3 no longer do Bosch warranty calls), I found one to come to the house. I was told the control panel (electronic part) was broken and had to be replaced. I called Caplan's again, spoke with Liz, who told me that control panels break "all the time", you cannot vouch for the life expectancy, and that this was a "very common" problem. I told her that this was a BRAND NEW machine delivered dead-on-arrival and that this is NOT common at all and if Caplan's is routinely delivering defective machines, they should not be in business. The new part was supposed to come 2 days after it was ordered. It is now 10 days later and it is no where to be found. I am now dealing with Sandra Prince at Caplan's, who also has done nothing for me. I have demanded either a new dishwasher be delivered to my house or I want a refund since this problem has been ongoing for a month. Still waitiing for a reply. I find the customer service at Caplan's to be the most appalling I've ever encountered in my entire life and would never, ever consider purchasing from them again. read more

I went in to look at a Wolf cooktop and oven for an upcoming kitchen renovation, planed for April (so I didn't need to buy right away). I asked the sales person if the appliances ever went on sale (it was boxing week, and I assumed they would). He told me that they are never on sale and contrary to that prices would be going up 10% in February. He claimed that they usually raise prices in January but this year were delaying a month. After I left, I looked online and found that a sale had ended just a few days before. I called a few other appliance places and it seems none of them were informed on the Wolf February price increase. After several other exchanges like this, I'm very glad that I didn't buy from these crooks! read more

My experience at Caplans was very positive. Bought several appliances for rental units and Matthew at Caplans was able to match the lowest price I found on the web. They delivered for free, brought it into my units and unpacked the items at my request. On another occasion I needed an induction cooktop right away. Matt actually drove to the warehouse on his day off and made sure I had it in time for the tenants. Their customer service is amazing! read more

Terrible! I got a quote from them that is less than 30 days old - which they won't honour. The individual on the phone literally hung up on me - and all I asked was what their recycling program was because I din't want my old appliances to end up in landfill (I was hoping they may have worked with someone like Habitat for Humanity). My mom had purchased from them in the past - but this is a very different company. This person said we don't make money if you don't buy the extended service plan - so we're not interested. That's fine - happy to take my business elsewhere. Be weary of this company - they don't honour their own quotes. read more

I've got mixed feelings but I'd still buy from Caplans again. I bought a range that ended up needing to be returned to the manufacturer. Dealing with the store-level rep was useless but once we were put in touch with the sales manager the matter was resolved. It took months to wrap up all the admin/ logistics but we ended up with a product that I'm very happy with. Overall I feel like management at Caplans care about their customers and about the reputation of the company. The best thing a consumer can do is lots of research before visiting the store and don't purchase on the first visit. read more

We are in the mist of a kitchen reno and went to the annual boxing day sale at Caplans. They have the best customer service, there was a valet person making sure you were parked legally so not to get a ticket. On entering Mrs. Caplan was there to greet and offer coffees and baked goods while you waited and browsed their great inventory . We made a big purchase for us and the sales rep. Joseph really knew his stuff. We got exactly what we needed in our budget. They also had a warehouse to hold them until we needed them in 6 weeks. So we did our own research and brought the cook top elsewhere. We were sold a dishwasher based on an extended warranty "throw in" that we actually could not use (due to our delivery date, which they had). It took weeks of dealing with management to get what we agreed to and paid for. Then our wall ovens arrived. Surprise! No one thought to mention that unlike the dishwasher, the people who deliver the ovens don't install. Then they recommended an installer. He didn't show up and frankly sounded drunk or half asleep when we called him. They recommended a second installer. Also a no show. Brutal experience from beginning to end. I bought a Kitchenaid Stove. It was defective. I could not return or exchange it. I had to deal with Whirlpool and the incompetent service people (Steins Appliances) they hired to look at the stove. The stove just got picked up. Had to use a 60 warranty on the self-cleaning feature to get my money back. Two months without a stove and will be another 3-6 weeks before I get my money and can buy a new stove. Will never buy a Whirlpool product, or deal with Caplans, again. Or Stein's appliances (the guy actually wiped his spit on the stove). read more

Nancy at Caplan Appliances sold me an oven that isn't working. I've been without a stove for 1.5 weeks now and I have had to start making angry calls to get any response so that we can either get our $1100 back or get them to provide us something to cook with so that we're not spending more money on restaurants. When I called customer service, Liz suggested that I should consider buying a 4 year extended warranty! They hadn't even fixed what we had originally paid them for!!! They have at least 2 identical models sitting in their inventory, but I have to take a day off work to wait for a repairman! DON'T SHOP HERE!!! read more
