All the existing students are very welcoming to newcomers and there's a good mix of men and women, young and old, etc. If you come from a more forceful style like Karate or boxing it may be a bit of an adjustment. In the beginning there's a strong but important focus on slowing down and taking the time to develop proper technique and muscle memory. This is because Wing Chun is all about countering your opponent's force with minimal energy. Once you get the hang of the basics you move on to things like Chi Sau, sparring, and weapons. If you're interested in learning traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu, I recommend giving Sifu Alon's school a shot.
