What drew us in was the large number of outdoor tables scattered around the patio in front. What made us stay was the extra patio around the back, the one with the views of the river and the castle on the hill. We came in for a quick aperitivo following a day of sightseeing and walking. The staff was immediately friendly, welcoming and efficient. Once settled, we were given salty chips and a menu to review. All I really wanted was a bright, crisp adult beverage, so I went with a Hugo Spritz. My husband ordered an Aperol Spritz and the prosciutto appetizer. The drinks were cold and bubbly and way too easy to drink. Somehow we ended up ordering two more each? I didn't think they were packing any kind of a punch...and then I stood up. It wasn't enough to have me lunging towards the closest loo, but I did notice the...difference in altitude...once my legs were put back to use, haha. The prosciutto and burrata appetizer was a nice addition to the table. The burrata was creamy and cold and the prosciutto had that salty, hammy flavor that my husband was looking for. They served it with bread, olive oil and "balsamic vinegar", which altered the flavors of the cheese and meats just enough to keep things interesting. We were able to while an hour or so away here, drinking our many drinks, eating the salty/creamy combo goodness, enjoying the view and reviewing our trip so far. An interesting and somewhat out-of-the-way place mostly for locals or tourists who may stumble upon it. Quiet and good for conversation. Good cocktails and reasonably friendly staff. I could do without the pigeons all over the tables though. read more

This charming cafe has a surprising abundance of seating and lots of little nooks and crannies in which to make your temporary dining home. The best part, by far, is the back patio. Pass the outside tables, go through the main dining room and bar, go through the back dining room to your right and go up the steps to the rear patio. Friendly - but not overly aggressive - birds will visit nearby while you have a bite to eat and look out at the water. The roman arena is just across the canal so the view is prime. If you just get beer (there's a local Verona beer served here, just ask!) the friendly and multilingual waitress will bring you dishes of munchies. For a starter I had polenta with Gorgonzola and Marie P. had an arugula salad with lots of sliced Parmesan and mushrooms. There are large bottles of EVOO and aged balsamic on the table. For mains I had the lasagna which had amazingly fresh and light noodles with buttery ricotta cheese layered between sauce and seasoned beef. Marie P. had a Margarita pizza which, while not the specialty of the region, was still great (and huge, for only 6 euro). Pizza is of the thinner crust variety here. There's a 1 euro seating fee per person, which seems to be the norm in the area. The cafe has a good mix of locals and tourists though locals seem to congregate in the bar area with it's comfortable seating and free wifi. read more

"Incredibly rude staff" I have recently went on a trip to Verona - just a short few days to enjoy the lovely Italian weather, food and hospitality. I was there with a friend and this place seemed like a nice one to have dinner one evening. Staff refused to serve us and attend to us because they only had a table for 4 and we were 2... I could not believe it!!! We obviously had to go somewhere else. I will most probably go back to Verona, but never in that place again. read more

Very disappointing!!! My husband and I were on our honeymoon last month and it was our very first night in beautiful Verona. We were out walking all day exploring the city and we couldn't wait to have a great meal. We decided to give this place a try especially because we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view of the river. We were greeted right away by a server, while we perused the menu, and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. Pleased to be acknowledged so quickly, we happily told him we would love to sit outside. He, then, motioned to us to go into the place and find our way to the outside dining area. We reached the doorway to the outside and patiently waited for someone to seat us. There were quite a few tables to choose from since we arrived when it wasn't very busy. Spotting an open, but dirty table that had a great view, we continued to wait a few more minutes for someone to come out and clean it. Enough time went by where no one came out, that made us think, maybe we are supposed to seat ourselves. There wasn't a sign that said, Please Wait To Be Seated, but we didn't want to assume. We felt uncomfortable just standing in the area while others were seated and looking at us, so we decided to take a chance and sit at the table. A server, finally, came by, wiped the table for us, and handed us menus. We were so excited to try the food because everything sounded delicious on the menu, plus it was our first sit-down meal in Italy that wasn't in a hotel, so that added to the excitement. Once we made our food and drink choices, which didn't take very long, we waited patiently again for the server. We sat and sat and sat and were never asked if we were ready to order. So much time went by, in fact, that the dining area began to fill up pretty much to capacity and we noticed the new tables getting served before us. We kept trying to get someone's attention, but kept getting ignored. At one point, a server walked up to our table, acted like we weren't even there, grabbed our napkin holder, and placed it on one of the new tables. After about 30 minutes of this, we were fed up, got up, and stormed out. To this day, we still don't know if it was because we were tourists, but we will never be back to find out. We love Verona and we didn't let this place ruin our Italian experience. Because of how rude and disrespectful this place was, we ended up eating at a place nearby where the service and food were top notch! We are already planning our second trip to Italy and Verona in particular and rest assured we will definitely not come back to this place and give it another chance. My husband and I are both in the restaurant/hospitality business and we are very understanding when it comes to bad service. We know that there are many factors to consider, like how busy the place is and if the server is having an off night, but it was close to empty when we arrived, both in the inside and outside dining areas, and we were never assigned a server to even know if they were having a bad day or not. It's no wonder that it only has 3 reviews on Yelp and not 1 of them is a 5 Star. Of our 14 day trip throughout Italy, this was the only time we felt unwelcome! read more

During my three-day visit in Verona, I came here twice - I loved the atmosphere, the spritzes, just everything. Except the pigeons. They started flying on my table towards the end of my first visit and I left, after spending over 3 hours relaxing. The wait staff is friendly but not always attentive. Still, they didn't try to rush me so that was nice. The food is quite good and a margarita pizza is only €6. But, during my second visit, the pigeons were very aggressive and I had to go inside. If they don't scare you, then definitely try this place out! read more
