I've come to realize that beautiful things coincide with pain for a reason. A melody for every death, a bottle of wine for remorse and art for the tormented - they move together and cannot ever be separated simply because this is the natural order in the world. I was in Cappelini the other day with an old friend who was suffering from a failed relationship yet again (something that we all had predicted would happen but couldn't tell him) He was walking around the shop, looking at things he couldn't afford but felt that he had to get because he was in so much pain. So, he bought a chair. It was expensive but it was so beautiful it could conjure a thousand conversations.
M: Are you sure about that? (looking at the price tag)
Friend: Yes, It would be a good conversation piece for my dinner party next week. I want to divert people's attention from my breakup with XXXX
M: Okay. If you insist. Pay up!
Friend: That's why I love you.
He walked away from Cappelini poorer than ever but happier than when he first came in. read more
