The worst experience. I walked into the Capri Beauty College where I was being laughed at by the staff and accused of missing my appointment when I didn't have an appointment. The manager walked over to the group of women, standing at the desk. And started laughing at me and started laughing at me. I was very confused why everyone was laughing at me and not greeting me. It was very rude and it made me very uncomfortable Afterwards, other women told the manager to ignore me and she put her head down and started laughing at me. Afterwards I asked where they closed and she said with a attitude no. she said do you have an appointment and I said no I came to make an appointment. She said oh, she asked me what I like to make an appointment I said no I wanted to know how much is a silk press wrap? She said, is that all you wanted? I said yes she started explain it to me with a silk press is. I said I know. Then, she gave me the price list but I did not make the appointment. I felt uncomfortable and disrespected in that environment. I would never do with any business with a Beauty College. read more

WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE EVER!!! am reviewing as a client of one of their students. Her name is Maria Wolfe. I asked her to give me a sew in (a method of adding extensions) and it was the worst hair experience of my life. She didn't braid my hair tight enough Not only did she do a terrible job, but she ruined my extensions. My hair looked SO BAD that I had to take it down as soon as I saw it in the mirror. I could never walk outside the house looking like the way I did (will add pictures) still paid her because I figured it was my fault for trusting her with my hair, so I paid her a little less than what we agreed. As I took down my hair, I realized she ruined my extensions. As she was putting them in my hair, I instructed her not to cut the weft because it ruins the hair, causes it to shed, and makes it harder to reinstall using another stylist. However, she cut the wefts without telling me. The hair costed me $250 and are now unusable. This girl costed me a total of $320 and refused to give me a refund for her service. She even threatened to call the police on me because I wanted to meet up with her to show her the damage done to my hair. She even blocked my number and her social media so I can no longer get in contact with her. I do not know what this school teaches their students, but I will never get my hair done by anyone associated with this school. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not go here. Not only do they not care, they are rude. I showed them a picture of how I wanted my hair and it was absolutely NOTHING like the picture at all. The lady helping the student was condescending and rude. The supervisor above her was at least talking to me in a sincere manner. The bottom line was I paid $91 for nothing. My highlights were tiny, almost nonexistent, the picture I showed had large chunky highlights. Not one person noticed I had my hair done at work the next day. My gray was more prevalent than ever since my original die became lighter after they were done. Now the grays stood out more when I wanted the highlights to help hide them!!! I might as well just burn the $91 next time!!!!! It did not get anything for my money anyway! The supervisor finally offered to have me come back another day to try and add more highlights. I just left super upset! The atmosphere there is terrible as well. The people were not friendly. I went to a different cosmetology school in Lemont, PAID WAY LESS AND WAS GIVEN WAY BETTER RESULTS!!! It was more personalized and friendly and my hair looks great!!!! People actually noticed I had my hair done, and the grays are covered up with highlights! Just like I wanted. They will get my repeat business! It doesn't matter which student you get if the supervisors do there job and make sure their students get the proper instruction along the way. On my very first encounter with Tricia her inappropriate comments, conversations, over charging services according to price list and student level continues to make the environment extremely uncomfortable. Students and most staff are friendly and accomidating however Tricia constant unsolicited input is unnecessary. I realize it's a beauty school as Tricia has pointed out on one of her rants. However I believe Capri services clients shouldn't clients have a salon experience? I have changed my salon visits to random appointments Tricia is always around therefore I must forego convenience and not return. read more

I had decided that I needed a change in hairstyle. One of my best friends went here to learn the hair trade. So I decided to try it. And I wasn't disappointed. The young lady was very good I got a wonderful haircut and style and the instructor. I forgot her name but she needs to be cloned she explains so much and was so pleasant I just felt like I was the only person there. The place is immaculate I was told they had just recently remodeled it. And it looks very professional. And it's reasonable. I haven't been able to go back but I will once my budget gets straightened out. Now I have to tell you it's small for where they do their hair but they do have another building which I think is the classroom which makes it nice because you don't have many things going on at the same time. I went to the one in oak Forest because from where I live in Calumet City I can take one bus all the way there. Now you do have to call for an appointment and they do have four levels of stylist. When I go back for my new hairdo I'm going to get a senior stylist because it's going to be a little bit more tricky. But I highly recommend this. read more

My review is as a client receiving services from students. I've been to Capri for two haircuts and a pedicure, and I'm very happy with the results. I highly recommend this place for hair cuts if you're pinching pennies. It's $10 to get a cut from a level 3 or 4 student (the highest levels) - so this is a great alternative if all you can afford is Great Clips. The haircut might take a little longer - they are students, and also the teachers have to check their work - but the cuts are very well done! The last time I was there, I was extremely impressed when I was getting my adorable side-swept bangs trimmed, and the student stopped and said "you know what, I just can't get this to look how I want." So she went to get a teacher, explained what I wanted, and the teacher finished off my bangs - and they are fantastic! So, I was happy that the student knew when to stop, and pleased that the teacher did such a wonderful job "demonstrating" on me. And my cut was still only $4 since I was only getting a bangs trim. As for nails, I've only had a pedicure there, and it was $20 (compared to $30 at my usual place). It was good but there wasn't quite as much detail as my usual place, so I'll probably stick to Capri for haircuts and the other place for pedicures. Not that I got a bad pedicure or anything like that. read more

Okay, let me say this first and foremost: the girl who cut my hair (her name was Christina) did a great job. She was awesome! But the experience overall was...umm...less than satisfactory. Maybe it's just me, but it felt like walking into an overcrowded shelter with hoards of barking dogs. It was as loud as a high school lunchroom, and people were everywhere. Maybe I'm a snob, but I'm not used to sitting so close to another client and hearing conversations on both side of me clear as a bell. The instructor who checked the work seemed a bit rushed (maybe because it was so busy?) and pretty much grunted, nodded, and walked away. Would I go back there? No, probably not. Great prices, and like I said...Chris was excellent, but it was a little...overwhelming. And disenchanting. And the epitome of something that was NOT relaxing in the least. read more

Its all about who you pick.. if you pick someone good than you are prob ok. If not, oh well. Then if you pick someone you like you have to get past the migraine you are going to have from all the noise and drama. Good price but I just decided not to skimp on my hair anymore. To find a good stylist maybe scope it out see who's hair you like and ask them who cut it? I kinda go off of how well put together someone is.. if your hair is solid I know you know your stuff..I have usually been right.. one star because they are students and you nevr know..If you call and ask for who is good they will not tell you who the best student is.. so that was annoying... good for a cheap haircut if you are adventurous and extremely low maintenance. read more

We have been going here a few years service is nice and the students who do your hair are great. Downside the prices are not for the budget they charge an extra $10 for length and an extra. $10 for density. That's $20 with no particular service that has ben done yet. This is a school. I have been a longtime customer to cosmetology schools but have never been this disappointed. I wanted to try a new school in my area since I have been going to the same one for years (not because I had an issue at the other, just looking to see how other schools do their thing). I came in for a standard trim, at most an inch and a half, but that didn't happen. My stylist was talking the entire time to the girls around us, was not focused, and cut off WAY to much of my hair. I asked for a trim on medium length hair and received a long bob. I think its safe to say I will never be going back there to get my hair done. read more

Was kind of skeptical about going to Capri. It's been awhile since I last was there. The last visit the haircut was fantastic, the girl took her time which turned out to be one of my best haircuts. The thing about it was the atmosphere was dark and very cramped. This time I went to my surprise...the atmosphere was bright and they had a window when you first walked in as a point of interest! I could not say enough words as to the wonderful receptionist. She greeted my daughter and I with the most friendliest smile! One of the (teachers I expect), was also so friendly and kind. Everyone there was working so professional with each of their clients. It was oh so clean and it was just the best experience I've had in a long time from a beauty school! This is definitely the was to go for beauty shop needs. You can't get bet the prices. I have had facials, pedicures, hair cuts, and high lights. The students do have teacher around to assist when needed. If you are scared to risk your hair with a new student, ask for a level 4 student, they are close to graduating. read more

As a previous student at Capri, I have to say this was the worst school I have ever been too. The teachers care nothing about the students with the exception of some. The school was horrific if looked at from a sanitary point of view, the shampoo bowls, washing machines, and the pedicure bowls were full of gunk and I hated taking clients to get there feet done.The teachers spend more time talking about there lives more then they talk about the lesson. I have to say there was only one class that I found the most beneficial and that actually made me comfortable about going into the beauty field. The building is old and can use a lot a work, I feel that if they hold the pivot point title they should have way more upkeep than they do. Some of the teachers need to go back to school and/ or have classes to update on their skills and see what new so they can teach more up to date lessons. I feel that a lot more can be done around the school if the people who actually owned the establishment were more present and more involved in the things that go on in the school instead of staying inside of their office and only call students when its necessary. read more
