I love going to this place in the summer when you can sit outside. The atmosphere is quite nice, and it's one of the only places in Stamford like it. Their menu is simple--paninis, pizzas, pasta, Italian toast, and salad. The ingredients are simple but yummy--a lot of goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, prosciutto, mushrooms, etc. Everything is quite light and fresh. Hi All, So this place is a Euro-style restaurant. What does that mean? Small over priced dishes. People go here for one main reason- atmosphere. This is a nice place to go when you are not really hungry and the weather is nice- with great outdoor seating (if you can avoid the huge lines for the outdoor seating). The service is good- always appreciate the wait staff. I have been here a dozen or more times. I really like their salads- which is the best option on the menu. Their pizza is average at best, their sandwiches are more like appetizers (the Euro-style thing). And the appetizers are decent- I like the Calamari and really small crab cakes. And all of these that i mentioned are over priced for the portions. I would say that if you want a light late dinner, and have a little extra in your budget, and the weather is nice, then this place is recommended. Been to Capriccio's twice now and the food is definitely good, but I don't know if I would say "great". The biggest reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is the lack of service. Our waiter (dark haired guy with a Mohawk) seemed like he couldn't care less about being there and was anxious to get us out, even though when we first arrived we were the only table there? I ordered the "Gravina" pizza, I asked them to add prosciutto to it, no problem. The dish was very pretty but while the crust was flavorful, it seemed a bit on the stale side, not sure why. The toppings (Arugula, Cannelloni Beans, Tomato & Goat Cheese) were all very fresh. It's a very decent sized pizza, not enough to share, but definitely more than enough for one person to eat as a meal. My cousin had the Parmigiana Pizza with the breaded chicken. She said it wasn't the best, but still alright. Zucchini Chips for an appetizer. These I would say were great. Thinly sliced ribbon cut zucchini very lightly fried served with Marinara on the side. Very nicely done. For dessert we had the Nutella Crepes. Now in my opinion you can add Nutella to anything and it will be delicious, but that being said the "Crepes" were basically raw and impossible to cut through. I would pass on this dessert next time, however if they could get the crepe part right it would probably be delicious. Overall I'm giving them 3 stars to be fair since I wasn't completely blown away but the food is definitely on a solid level of good, and the price seemed semi- reasonable. Appetizer, 2 pizzas and dessert and we were out of there for about $55 with tip. If you're looking for conventional Italian this isn't your place, but if you're in the mood for something light with a European style to it, I'd say give them a try. I've been living and dining in Stamford for years. This is a great casual place for fresh and simple Italian food. In the summer, it's a long line waiting to be seated outside. This is a place where you would get great pasta, sandwiches, appetizers and dessert. My favorites are crab cake salad, fried calamari, grilled squid, and most of their pasta dishes. For sandwiches, I love their chicken with pesto. Yum!! Their food always tastes fresh, simple yet delicious. You get to see the owner Giovani walking around making sure things are running smoothly and saying hello to his customers. I love him. I think he's also a very clever business person who shares much of his heritage in the decor of the place and flavors in the food. He is very friendly and passionate about what he puts out in the place. And, who could ignore his vespa? One thing I'd agree with some is that their servers could be on the slow side. Most of them are foreigners or pretty new to the service industry. Some of them could also really benefit from more training on how to serve dishes to the table, paying more attention to the water, the drinks, and when the customers are ready to pay the bills. Sometimes it could be hard to get their attention. I used to think that their pricing was pretty fair only because it's at a prime spot in downtown Stamord. But then I found Plan B burger place in the mall which had one of the best values and best food in Stamford. Maybe a tiny drop on the prices would really attract more customers in this economy. I love this place! The inside has two split restaurant like seating but when it's nice out the outdoor front seating is open. I come here very often with my girlfriends to catch up and once in a while I'll go for brunch with my coworkers or trainers. I haven't tried everything from the menu yet but I've been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner & dessert. To be honest, you can't go wrong with anything you order. Food is very fresh, nicely presented and tastes yummy! The bread and oil you receive once you are seated is also delicious. I've had their salads, margarita pizza, calamari, some sandwiches. Oh and the dessert is absolutely delicious!! On a cheat day I'll get the crepes with nutella & two scoops of vanilla ice cream, must try! The service can get a bit slow if it is busy but the waiters are very friendly and do their job. I never had a bad experience here and I've been coming here for a long time now. read more

My friend and I had gone here at the recommendation of someone we knew. We were seated right away, which we thought was great given that it was a Saturday night at 8pm. The menu isn't very large for dinner but it looked adequate enough. We ordered the antipasto and a meal each with a glass of red wine. The antipasto had listed speck, which neither of us had heard of before, so we asked the young waiter what it was. He struggled to find the right words with "it's uhhhh, it's like uhhh, it's, it's....do you want me to ask the kitchen?" We told him it wasn't that big a deal, we just wanted to know what it was. Turns out it's a type of prosciutto. We had each taken a little of the antipasto and begun to eat when I saw what looked like a maggot in the roasted red pepper strips on my plate. We called the waiter over who immediately took it away and offered us something else. We got the fried calamari and don't ask me why we stayed - I have no idea how we still had an appetite after that. The calamari was fine, nothing to rave about. For dinner, I had a thin breaded chicken cutlet served w/cold, fresh arugula, tomato and mozzarella, which was also fine, nothing fantastic. There wasn't any sauce on the plate, just dry chicken. My friend had the salmon served w/spinach. We shared the Nutella crepe dessert and were disappointed that the crepes were not your "usual" style crepe but a chewy, doughy substitute. While we waited 25 minutes to flag someone down to get the check (at this point it was 10:45 and we were 1 of 3 tables left dining outside), my friend went to the restroom. She said it was like a bus station bathroom and if I needed to go, I had better bring a napkin. So, all in all, this place sucked. The antipasto was not taken off the check, nor the calamari put in its place and at that point we just wanted out of there. We figured they had to be similar in price anyhow. Turns out the antipasto was $14, the calamari was $11. Not a big deal but just another annoying thing to point out that should have been taken care of as soon as we sent it back. The food was "eh", the service was "eh" and with all the other amazing Italian restaurants in that area, I won't be dining here again. read more

Capriccio is a really cute, authentic Italian place. I love the modern look and the kitchen gadgets mounted on the walls. And the sweet cute Italian owner who sometimes will come by and say hello just tops it off! I've only had lunch here so far, and it's definitely a place you want to go for a longer Friday lunch so you can thoroughly enjoy it (it tends to be a little slow too). I had the orechiette with sausage, which was very good, but was disappointed by the rosemary potatoes which were just kind of baked potatoes with a sprig of rosemary on top (very disappointed by that ). But overall still liked it and I want to come back for dinner some time, hopefully that will give Capriccio another star. read more

They used to serve a little piece of flatbread with some of the salads, they don't do that anymore. Service is horrific. Pretty much the worst I've ever seen. Everyone says it about this place, but people keep going for the food and outdoor seating. If you go, make sure you have time. There is no such thing as a quick bite to eat here. Last night we got our food and we ordered a glass of wine- we didn't get the wine until we were finishing our last bite of food. The servers don't come by the table ever, and when they do they're not that friendly. I'm only giving 3 stars cause of the food and seating. The service gets 1 star. read more

Because of your ignorant boss, your establishment lost not only our business but the possibility of recommending it to a friend or family member. The owner is from Italy, and I believe he does a great job in bringing the authentic Italian cuisine to the heart of downtown Stamford. Capriccio can be hit or miss. We came one time around 4ish on a Friday, before the dinner rush, and we enjoyed our experience. The service could have been better, was a little on the slow side. I will mention towards the end of our meal we had a different waiter and his energy and attitude was much better and he was very attentive-- I wish we had him the entire time, he really went out of his way to take care of us. Cut to last night, we arrived around 6 and were able to secure a table without a wait. It was very busy and it didn't help we had our child who was on the verge of a meltdown. It took about 10 minutes before we placed our order and received our drinks. I noticed some tables received bread and others didn't.. I assumed we didn't because we had placed an order for an appetizer, and I didn't make a big deal out of it until about 20 minutes passed by with no appetizer in sight and the table next to ours received their appetizer (they ordered after we did). Annoyed and with a very hungry child I had to request some bread from one of the servers going by-- when we got the bread it was piping hot (great!) but too hot to touch and no plates to put it on (not great!). We finally received our meal and realized the kitchen completely forgot about our appetizer (or gave our order to someone else). Overall, we will probably return just not if it looks like they are too busy. The zucchini chips are my go-to, so delicious! Perfect appetizer to split while sipping on a nice glass of wine. The peach sangria I had was watered down, probably would not order it again. The penne a la vodka was alright although the sauce has a little bit of spice to it. read more

CRAP-ICCIOs! Awful service from the beginning. Had multiple waiters of which all looked disinterested. Most of the customers were at outdoor seating while the staff was inside standing near the bar with a few eating at the tables themselves. One pretty waitress with long brown hair stood at the outdoor register rolling her eyes with her arms crossed. Even took an order from a couple with her arms crossed. Our fries were dropped off and no one ever followed up to ask if we needed any sauce or ketchup. We had to ask for water as the waiter never gave us any. Marguerite pizza was subpar although my husband enjoyed his sandwich. Not a single person asked us if we were enjoying our food or if we needed anything. I even heard 3 ladies behind me complaining about the service and expressed amongst one another that they weren't leaving tip; it's too bad they didn't lodge a formal complaint. When I asked for the manager, a 20-something year old male came by (the same one that was flirting with the waitresses at the outdoor register). I will not be coming back here and I would recommend that you don't support a business that supports its staff to treat their customers with disrespect and make their dining experience that much more unpleasant.
