Capriccio can be hit or miss. We came one time around 4ish on a Friday, before the dinner rush, and we enjoyed our experience. The service could have been better, was a little on the slow side. I will mention towards the end of our meal we had a different waiter and his energy and attitude was much better and he was very attentive-- I wish we had him the entire time, he really went out of his way to take care of us. Cut to last night, we arrived around 6 and were able to secure a table without a wait. It was very busy and it didn't help we had our child who was on the verge of a meltdown. It took about 10 minutes before we placed our order and received our drinks. I noticed some tables received bread and others didn't.. I assumed we didn't because we had placed an order for an appetizer, and I didn't make a big deal out of it until about 20 minutes passed by with no appetizer in sight and the table next to ours received their appetizer (they ordered after we did). Annoyed and with a very hungry child I had to request some bread from one of the servers going by-- when we got the bread it was piping hot (great!) but too hot to touch and no plates to put it on (not great!). We finally received our meal and realized the kitchen completely forgot about our appetizer (or gave our order to someone else). Overall, we will probably return just not if it looks like they are too busy. The zucchini chips are my go-to, so delicious! Perfect appetizer to split while sipping on a nice glass of wine. The peach sangria I had was watered down, probably would not order it again. The penne a la vodka was alright although the sauce has a little bit of spice to it. read more

Absolutely terrific Italian food in the heart of Stamford. Their paninis are first rate and the delicious thin crust pizza is fantastic. I also had chicken with mozzarella and tomato...it was amazing. The atmosphere is great also, and they cater to a very hip crowd. It's become my new favorite restaurant in Stamford. CRAP-ICCIOs! Awful service from the beginning. Had multiple waiters of which all looked disinterested. Most of the customers were at outdoor seating while the staff was inside standing near the bar with a few eating at the tables themselves. One pretty waitress with long brown hair stood at the outdoor register rolling her eyes with her arms crossed. Even took an order from a couple with her arms crossed. Our fries were dropped off and no one ever followed up to ask if we needed any sauce or ketchup. We had to ask for water as the waiter never gave us any. Marguerite pizza was subpar although my husband enjoyed his sandwich. Not a single person asked us if we were enjoying our food or if we needed anything. I even heard 3 ladies behind me complaining about the service and expressed amongst one another that they weren't leaving tip; it's too bad they didn't lodge a formal complaint. When I asked for the manager, a 20-something year old male came by (the same one that was flirting with the waitresses at the outdoor register). I will not be coming back here and I would recommend that you don't support a business that supports its staff to treat their customers with disrespect and make their dining experience that much more unpleasant. Have people forgotten that we tip for service? They shouldn't be surprised when they receive no tip. read more

Capriccio is one of my favorite places in Stamford. The food options are versatile - from pizza and pasta to intricate salads and crab cakes, and the best thing about the food is its lightness and freshness, combined with sensible portion sizes - I've never left feeling either hungry or too full. The best thing about the place, in my opinion, is the ample outside seating (available Spring, Summer, and early Fall), it has a European cafe-style atmosphere. It's a great place to have lunch with friends, or to grab a light meal and a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening. Their coffee and desserts are right on the mark as well! It also seems good for kids, at least I always have seen people with kids there. read more

good place to have Italian food on road side. Outdoor sitting is one of the main attraction. Food selection is good, better than lucky's next door. And brunch hrs are better than Lucky's (this is 2nd hint for Lucky;s to make some changes) I liked everything that I ordered, specially zucchini chips (a must try). I will say, food is 4.5*. I still gave 4, because of service. It was late, i could see my drink on bar table 5 min before server picked it up and served. The bottomless was fun, but limiting it to an hour left everyone chugging their drinks rather than enjoying each other's company and enjoy our drinks. May 21, 2011 louprez This was my third time and my last . The first time I was there they brought out the wrong drinks and the food took some time . The time after that I went with my wife and son and they forgot to put in my son's order and took 40 min to get his plate out . We waited and our food was cold which they could care less about . This last time I was there they forgot my order which took 1 hour ( not busy with 6 tables occupied) and brought out the wrong main for 2 of the people I was there with .. The service was extremely slow, and the place wasn't that busy to begin with. They do not serve bread or anything while your waiting for your meal. I paid $18 for raviolis that where good but I only got 5 of them. I left the restaurant hungry and the check took forever to come. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. read more

Really 3.5 stars for this place. The layout of the restaurant was a bit unusual. You enter through a complex entrance and see part of the restaurant to your left and the other part of the restaurant to your right (both behind two separate doors). We walked through the right hand side and were seated by the friendly host/waiter. My friends and I decided to get the bottomless mimosa. I would have to say that the wait service was not as attentive as I would have liked. In the 2 hours that my friends and I were there, they only filled our champagne glasses around twice. The food was okay. As an appetizer we ordered the fried calamari. Served with two different types of dipping sauces and was pretty good. The waffles with strawberries had a nice outer crunch and a soft interior. I ordered the prosciutto savory crepe which was decent while my other friend ordered the bacon crepe. To use the restrooms, you have to request the keys from the workers so that you can walk out to the hallway and go. read more

Came here for the first time on Saturday. The service isn't as horrible as everyone makes it seem. Yes they do take a while but maybe it was the gorgeous weather or delicious sangria that made me unbothered by it . The food definitely did not take over a half hour though. Great food and a very nice outdoor seating area. There is a wide selection on the menu and so far everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious. Their sandwiches are great and made on homemade breads, always good! Their crab cake appetizer is so delicious as well, definitely a recommendation. Capriccio is especially popular right now (summer time). With more outdoor tables than any nearby competitor and a Vespa too. The location and the ambience is a big part of the draw here. As for the dining, the food includes pasta, sandwiches, salad, small pizzas, etc. It is good food, but nothing worth a detour. But if you are in the area, want to eat outdoors and enjoy a simple meal, Capriccio is a good bet in downtown Stamford. read more

Awful. Service acceptable, but the food was so generic and poorly prepared. My panini wasn't a panini, the bread was horrific, it was dry, flavorless, and the broccoli rabe was bland as can be. I have given this place enough chances, and they have come up short every time. I don't know if it's simply the location that keeps them up and running, but the food is in all honesty terrible. Get a scoop of gelato and be on your way. I gave one star because I'm not a dick. If I could, I'd burn the place down and have them sell, or start over. You all need serious help. read more

The food was not up to expectations at all considering the price they charge. Had to wait 30 minutes before we got water in 100 degree weather. This place is now way way overpriced. It used to be borderline too expensive but justifiable at times because the food was pretty good. Now, after another price increase, it's just silly. $13 for a pretty basic, small salad? Come on. The owner has overextended himself with too many restaurants and he's making us pay. He'd do well to remember that he'll be the one paying when people stop coming because the food just isn't worth it. The quality and value have dropped at his other restaurants too. It was nice to sit outside, but my wife's pizza was thin and not notable, and I had some bruschetta pizza that tasted like someone lost the lid to the salt shaker over my food but shook it anyway. Maybe Lucky's next door would have been the better choice? This place looks very cute and was definitely busy given the beautiful weather and the outdoor seating but the service was horrible. The two stars is for the decent calamari and bread basket. My friend and I ordered our food and drinks and waited a half hour to get the drinks and even longer for our food after being offered 3 different other drinks that we didn't order and were for other tables. The waiters kept bringing by random food asking if we had ordered that and overall just very slow! When we finally got our salads they were very basic. So disappointing! Capriccio is decent - it's a fun place to sit outside on a nice summer evening and enjoy some people watching. I have tried a few of the pizzas and the crab cakes were pretty delicious. But if you are looking to eat some good pizza Capriccio is NOT the place to go. I had their pizza and not only once but three times and every time was just awful pizza, I mean how do you get pizza wrong. Well my advise to you is DO NOT order pizza unless you really just haven't had good pizza in your life. Visited this place on a Wednesday evening. Small split joint in apartment building. The place is nice and welcoming, ordered penne pesto pasta and wine. While the bottomless was bomb they limit you to one hour forcing us to focus on the drinks instead of the company. However they could not keep our orders straight nor could they time your meals appropriately. I write this review keeping in mind that this is Stamford, not NYC (...only take away one star if it was competing with other NYC eateries though). Went there for lunch...food was very tasty and filling but "light" at the same time. Bruschetta pizza was very good (a little overkill with the tomatoes, but that's just nit-picking) and the pizza crust was absolutely amazing. Out of everything, I will always remember this place as the place with the amazing pizza crust...it was light, perfectly cooked and ... I really don't know what else to say but it was delicious. My absolute favorite restruant to go to with friends ! I take everyone here who has never been . It's always a good meal the burrata is my favorite thing on the menu ( I crave it days after) and my second favorite is the avocado salad ( I'm not a big salad person ) . This menu has something for everyone and it's decently priced . Save room for dessert because it's so good here ( try the Nutella crepes).
