Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. The mural consist of a pair of boxing gloves with its angel halo (I assume created shortly after ali passing) and the left wing being a butterfly wing and the right wing being a bee wing. Very cool and unique. While the mural never mentions Ali name or the phrase or is obvious what the message is by the creative use of symbolism. Overall a great piece and while it's not very large and kinda hard to spot on the side of a building it may be one of my new favorite pieces because of the creativity.

Painted on the wall of the Rabbit Hole Distillery that overlooks the parking lot is a brightly…read morecolored mural depicting six scenes from Alice in Wonderland (or if one wants to be technically correct, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). The six scenes are: the hookah smoking caterpillar; Alice holding her cat, with the Cheshire Cat in the background; the Queen of Hearts' frog servants; the Queen of Hearts; the Mad Hatter; and the White Rabbit. Alice in wonderland public art mural located on the side of the rabbit hole distillery in the Nulu…read moreneighborhood of Lousiville Kentucky. Nulu is stocked full of awesome and beautiful public art works. Thai Alice and wonderland rendering has added to that. So detailed, specific and well done. Everytime I walk by it I notice a detail that I haven't before. Overall a beautiful and wonderfully done piece of public art. I can see it becoming a favorite of many inside the city.

TikTok really has opened my eyes to hidden treasures everywhere. I'm sure that I'm not the only one…read morethat feels this way. When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

Located down the…read morestreet from the goant Lousiville slugger bay and next tot he shine bright mural this piece is right under the expressway underpasses. A bunch of twisted piping that at the beginning of it says the words "Louisville". I'm not sure the purpose or what it represents and after the words Lousiville it's kinda a mess and hard to determine what the design is. Overall it's still a unique piece to the city and kinda cool. In a weird spot so I'm not sure how much exposure it gets as the one way street people usually have merged on the expressway before hitting the underpass.

You'd miss this if you're up on South Ninth Street because this striking piece of public art is…read morelocated in the underpass. Intended to draw more visitors to this part of Louisville, this orange colored artwork is a series of tubes and lines. Literally, a knot that stretches about 165 feet. Located right next door to the patio lr a popular Mexican food eatery in that portion of town this mural gets lots of photos and serves as a backdrop for fun times and memories for others. Overall pretty basic but very well done and fun public art mural. Murals or art with anything wings (butterfly, angel, bird) always make for fun photo ups of standing in between the wings and pretending they are yours. So that happens a lot with this mural naturally.

Captains Pegasus gallopalooza horse is part of the city wide gallopalooza public art initiative…read morespread throughout the city where they take horse sculptures and paint them up uniquely and use the proceeds for local charities. There are well over 200 gallopalooza horses in the city and this particular one sits on the lovely rear patio of captains quarters off the banks of the Ohio river. Very nice and well done gallopalooza horse. This horse actually is a Pegasus and has very nice bright colors and was well done by the artist. Makes for a real nice photo op when dining or exploring the outside patio of the popular eatery in Lousiville. Overall it's always fun exploring these sculptures and I've made it a point of emphasis to stop and appreciate these unique art series more in the future.

Of all of the murals in Lexington, this one was the most controversial. It's located on the outside…read moreof one of the outside walls of the an old warehouse in the distillery district. That "old" warehouse is now home of several the James Pepper Distillery District businesses. Specifically the building that is the home of Fusion Brewery and Battle Axes. When it was first painted, back in 2015 there were only two businesses open in the entire district. And as cool as the area is now, I know that this bad ass mural was part of that growth, for the good. So why was it so controversial? You know those kind of people who like to complain about everything, yeah those are who made it controversial. Although it's a self portrait of sorts, in the mural, he's spelling "Mo" with his hands. NOT a gang sign. I'm serious, people were saying that it was going to cause gang related behavior, and encourage graffiti. Now, I wonder what all those naysayers say about it after how far the district has come along in just a few short years. It's literally one of the most booming areas in Lexington. The yellow and blue lettering is painted on a black background with an outline of a futuristic city, reminiscent of The Jetsons cartoon. I don't know who the artist is, nor the meaning behind the mural, as I couldn't find any information, but I suppose it's meant to be inspirational and give people a positive outlook for the future. Very large, creative and fittingly enough futuristic looking wall mural in the Nulu neighborhood…read moreof Louisville Kentucky. You're important to the future is a great thought process and even cooler display of public art. Very hard to miss as it sprawls all across a whole building wall and makes for some cool and fun photo ops. I can imagine this is popular with graduation photos. If not then it probably should be. I'll take a slight commission for any photographers who use this idea ;). Overall like most things in the Nulu neighborhood this is a really cool find and any art or mural lovers will surely enjoy it.
