They are a well-oiled machine! Hired for my wife's milestone bday, they took care of everything. Ed handled the party prep over the phone very well and Mike and Jeff did the on-site cooking and open bar perfectly. Their rates are very reasonable with great service and high quality. Prior to the event, they were so easy to work with - they accommodated all of our needs & last minute changes. At our home, they did such a WONDERFUL job! Captain John's catered my daughter's first birthday party and I cannot say enough good things about their service, communication, quality of food, presentation, and clean up. They arrived one hour before the event began and did everything they promised. 45 minutes to prepare and serve 100+ guests. My guests ranged from 0-80 years old and all day, I was told how great the food was and how nice the staff was. Not only the seafood, which was fresh and delicious, but additionally the chicken and sausage combo and steak was perfect. Had Capt'n John's come in for our son's rehearsal dinner July 3, 2021. Everyone there loved it! There was plenty of food, it was served hot, was delicious, cooked to perfection and they could not have been easier to work with. We had hoped we could do it outside but it was pouring rain, they just switched it around and brought a table indoors to serve so our guests didn't have to go out in the rain. They were more reasonably priced they any other options we considered. I would highly recommend them to anyone! They made the dinner fun for us all. read more

We had staff day Catered by Capt'n Johns. The food was delicious! The lobsters were cooked perfectly. The steaks were huge, and all the sides that came with it were fresh. We had a clambake at our place on may 8th 2011. It was a HUGE success. Jim the "Captain" arrived on time, was very accommodating in terms of timing (the party started an hour later than was originally planned). Jim was nice, polite, respectful to the host and the guests, and was very unobtrusive. Everyone loved him. The food was very good too. I knocked off 1 star because the office was not as responsive as i wanted them to be. Some unreturned calls, unenthusiastic people on the other end... Other than that - great!!! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Saturday July 13th Captain John's showed up with our clambake for a family reunion...it was pathetic at best! Lobsters were tiny with absolutely no claw meat! Steamers were so SANDY they were awful! Mussels were so tiny it was like a joke! Chicken dried out like sawdust! Steaks small grey and over cooked! Burgers grey & overcooked! We've used Capt'n John's several times on the past and, as always, the food was terrific and the service was fantastic. We didn't have to do anything with the food - they cook, they serve, they clean up and - they take the trash with them! The lobster clambakes were cooked to perfection - lobster, clams, corn, potatoes - all wonderful. Super impressed with the professionalism, the food, the presentation and the support received for our clambake at Tod's Point, Greenwich CT. I was in shock and awe when they pulled up in a small uhaul van to steam lobsters and cook steaks for 70 people. They were seamless, executed perfectly, prepared AMAYZING lobster and steaks - and the portions were huge! They cleaned up and left the scene as quietly as they came in. After attending a clambake on the beach last summer and thoroughly enjoying ourselves, my husband and I decided to host one for his company's sales force/administrative staff. The clambake was last night and it turned out to be a stellar event. In my planning conversations with Ed, we worked out all the details...tables/chairs rental, menu options, dates vs. rain date (which we DID have to utilize and it was no problem). On the day of the event, Jim came right on time, set everything up, prepared our sumptuous feast (cheerfully adjusting the serving time for later than planned arrivals), cleaned it all up afterward and carted it off!
