I've had the pleasure of working with Elyse on a number of photo shoots. Initially, she took maternity photos and then photos of my newborn daughter. Ultimately, I happily used Elyse to capture my business. As a local small business owner, Elyse encouraged me to develop a branding strategy that would tell a story on my business website and social media outlets. I really wanted the photos to enhance my mission, but also show the real me! We worked in a professional studio setting where Elyse took hundreds of photos over the course of 5 hours. There was no rushing and I felt so heard! She did an amazing job of listening to what I wanted, while also suggesting ideas that would make my vision that much better. It's obvious Elyse puts a lot of time and hard work into delivering quality photos. During post production she clearly takes the extra hours to comb through the details-things that I wouldn't normally deem important (ie symmetry, complimentary colors, and proper lighting.) She is a perfectionist, so I trusted that she would take the time to make sure I'd be happy with the end result. One of the biggest differences between Elyse and most other photographers that I've worked with is this: she makes you feel super comfortable while guiding you on how to pose. As a woman this is so crucial because it's really difficult to find a flattering stance. I never know how to stand or smile! I also have a hard time just looking natural. Elyse helped me figure this out in like 5 minutes! It always felt like Elyse had my back when creating images for me and my brand. I couldn't recommend her more. If I could give 6 stars, I definitely would! I used Elysees Eye for some professional/personal portraits, as well as some still life images of my textile designs. I cannot express how pleased I was with the overall outcome of the images. Not only were the images wonderfully captured, but they really gave my portfolio and website a professional edge. I have also received endless complements about the intimate portraits she captured and that I have since utilized these on ALL my social media accounts-- (i swear her photos have upped my follower count!) Elyse has a unique way of looking at things, and an eye for creative capture. As a creative myself, I admire her talent and look for this quality in a photographer. I booked Elyse to take pictures of my 2 year old son and me for our Christmas card this past fall and was completely blown away by her creativity, laid back demeanor, and pure talent. I wanted to take the time to go over the high points of my experience working with Elyse. 1) I happen to have a very strong willed toddler (don't we all) who is extremely shy and hates having his picture taken. Recipe for disaster, right? Well, the moment my son started fussing Elyse started engaging with him without her camera to make him more comfortable which brought out his little personality, making our afternoon of pictures more like playtime than posing for pictures. I think all three of us had a blast 2) No forced posing required! Elyse's style is all about catching you in a genuine moment so the images she produces are both natural and authentic. I never had to think about what direction to look in or where to stand because Elyse is constantly moving so that you don't have to! 3) I have had a good amount of experience taking professional pictures and at best, I usually only end up liking and handful out the hundreds of images that come back. When Elyse sent me our pictures, I was pleasantly surprised to love every single one of them. It was hard to choose just one for our card! Elyse is wonderful, both as a person and photographer! She is professional, reasonably priced, and does excellent work! She took our engagement pictures in and around the Tidal Basin and Lincoln Memorial in DC. Our intention was to be there for the bloom of the cherry blossoms, but after much scheduling and rescheduling with Elyse, a March blizzard stalled the blossom. Elyse was flexible and accommodating throughout the whole scheduling process. Although the trees weren't in bloom, the pictures came out amazing! She was able to send several edited pics a few hours after the shoot, and the rest were put into a drop box a few weeks later. I love them and can't wait to use them for save the dates or whatever else we need! Having never had professional photos taken, we were a little reluctant to the whole process, but Elyse immediately made us comfortable. My fiancé and I aren't from the D.C.-area and found Elyse through Yelp. I'm so lucky we did!! read more
