This is the second time using their service for my front bumper. I was hit my a drunk driver in Feb 2024 and they did an amazing job repairing my vehicle. Now, May 2024 I am taking it back for a sensor covered under the job warranty. They were more than happy to help. Within 1 hr I recieved a service update as well as a time and date to bring it in. They are also accommodating a same day retun on my vehicle. Joel helped me on sight and is doing an amazing job at communicating the job and time frames. The staff if friendly, knowledgeable and great to work with. I recommend this repair shop with 5 stars. You will not be disappointed. read more

We have an older mustang, not a show car, but a car with sentimental value. We brought it here after getting multiple quotes for $7,000+ My husband is ecstatic with how the car came out for approx $2200. It is much more than we expected for the price. They quoted a week, and it was done in a week. The parking lot is small and tight, but the place is easy to find. We will definitely be back with our next project. read more

I dropped off an Audi for an estimate after someone scraped the whole left side in a parking lot - nothing major but it looked ugly so I figured I'd go through insurance. I saw the outstanding reviews here on yelp so I chose Car Coat. I haven't signed anything, I was told they'd do an estimate and work with my insurance, also that I'd be informed of any updates immediately. A few days passed, I called, texted, they said nothing yet, rest assured they'd reach out with news. Long story short about two weeks into this I decided to ask again (not even sure if that was in person or over the phone) and they casually asked if nobody had reached out to me as the car was deemed a total loss. Apparently there were missteps on both Car Coat and my insurer's side. The cherry on top was they kept calling me to release the car to Copart otherwise they'd charge me like 4-5k in STORAGE FEES after not letting me know what happened if I wanted the car back (which I did, it was worth way more in parts than the difference in insurance payout if I decided to let it go). I ended up having to let my beloved car go just to get out this hostage situation, but I did reach out to the bureau of automotive repairs and they found things not going by the book with them. They're nice in the office but baiting you and then wanting thousands of dollars cause they pulled a bumper and a mirror off to assess damages while not talking to you about new developments is just terrible business practice. I hope they've gotten better since, but I say beware of them. read more

My car got hit by a semi-truck and after much research I decided to bring my car to Car Coat Collision & Paint. Let me tell you. You will not regret choosing this shop. These guys did an awesome and honest job repainting the bumper of my 17 year old car. The paint was matched 100% and you can't even tell it was re-done. Kara and Bob are very friendly, and they gave me the best quotes. I have recommended them to many of my friends and returned a second time for my bike cover to be custom painted with an added decal. read more

My son purchased a used Ford Focus from a local dealership; the morning after the purchase we found rust on bottom lip and edges of both front fenders. Unfortunately, the dealership refused to repair since we noticed it after the sale. After checking out Yelp reviews and taking the car to 2 other local shops for estimates, we stopped in at Car Coat for a third estimate. Cody carefully evaluated the area and explained that previous owner had rolled in the edges of the front fenders; this cracked the paint and caused rust to develop on the exposed edges of metal. Cody was courteous, understood our situation and gave us an affordable quote for a thorough repair of both front fenders. He and his crew were able to complete the work within 1 week. The painted areas match great and we are very pleased with the outcome. Thank you Cody and team for the excellent repair at a an affordable price! read more

Very disappointed with the paint job from Car Coat SPB. I paid for the premium paint service and it is worse than I have done in my garage. Also worse than my Maaco paint job- should have gone there. The premium paint job is a two stage paint, base coat and clear overcoat. The base coat was sprayed on way too heavy and looks like cauliflower underneath the clear coat. So, unfortunately, the bad paint work is sealed in. Even as an amateur painter I can tell you that on a two stage paint job, the base coat goes on thin, so that it remains smooth and then the clear coat is put on over that. When you paint the base coat too heavy you get that lumpy orange peel look. I thought maybe they did a bad job with the color sanding of the clear coat, but actually that is OK. The problem is the lumpy/'cellulite like' base coat. Here are a few picture-tough to get the lighting correct. Believe me, it looks worse in person than in the pics and the entire car is like this. Also, there is one pic where they closed the hatch before the paint was dry and totally botched two large spots along the hatch read more

On their website it says they also offer motorcycle paint jobs. Giving 5 stars because Cody got back to me right away and told me that it is NOT a service that they do provide. Hopefully they'll fix that on the website. I appreciate someone getting back to me unlike other paint shops I've been asking estimates for. read more

Car coat is simply the best around. I have had five classic cars painted there and they always are excellent. This shop did some minor paint & repair work on my new Mustang, and it turned out perfect. The owner Bob is not only very friendly, but they do top notch work here, without a doubt. I highly recommend this shop for any kind of repair work, and wouldn't hesitate to take a high end car there for body repair work of any kind. AAA+++ read more

I was referred to Car Coat. I was quoted $685 for the work I wanted. I told Bob that $150 would be given to him from the person who referred me. Therefore I would owe him the difference of $535. However, Bob added the 2 prices and therefore overcharged me $150 and didn't even do 2 panels. I went in on Wednesday, November 6th in the morning to pick up my car. That's when I noticed 1 of the 2 panels failed to be painted. When I asked for 1 of the panels to be done, he charged me additional $$$!!! It was very upsetting! I had to leave my car there even longer and arrange for another ride. I got overcharged and didn't even get all the work done. Bob seemed very disorganized and does not have a good and clear memory. I do think he does outstanding work BUT it was not fun dealing with them! They seemed to rush the job and my car interior was very dirty. You get what you pay for. The presentation when I arrived was horrible. They did not walk me around and pull my car out for me. It was a disaster! Unfortunately, I would not recommend Car Coat. read more

the guys at Car Coat did an amazing job on my Honda Prelude. I had a few songs and debts here and there, including some that were the size of my palm. And now it looks like they were never there. I went with the 2 stage paint, base coat and clear coat. It looks better than when I bought the car 6+ years ago! Orange peel effect is very minimal, if none at all. The only thing else they could have done was color sand, which is wet sanding the clear coat. This would have costed much more but I didn't expect them to do it. I highly recommend these guys. I love about 30 minute drive from Escondido. Although my car took almost 2 weeks to finish, I'm very happy with the results. I'll be recommending everyone to this place. read more

When my car was hit by somebody in a parking lot, I was very nervous about getting my car's body repaired. I had never had such work done before and I didn't want to get taken advantage. I am so glad I took my friend's advice and went to this place. Bob, the owner, was super nice and answered all of my questions. I brought my car in on December 7th, and it was ready two days later! The dings were completely repaired, and the paint job was perfectly blended. I'm kind of thinking of going in for something more elaborate. Maybe a complete paint job or something. read more

I had my 2004 Honda painted by Car Coat Superior Paint & Body in the spring of 2012; I want to send my sincere appreciation for the amazing work that was done. My car looks as beautiful today, a year later, as the day that it was painted. I had lived in MA for 50 years, my car had seen many winters before moving to California. I had dents, a pushed in bumper, rusts spots and a cracked windshield. I couldn't afford a new car so, I decided to get the exterior painted. I drove to several auto body shops and after receiving quotes as high as $10,000.00, I broke down and cried. Finally, I was referred to Car Coat, the price was less than $2000 and the work was truly SUPERIOR! Dents, rust, and the cracked windshield were finally gone and at an amazingly affordable price! Thank you so very much Car Coat, I can't praise your company enough! L Shultz read more

We brought my wifes Mustang here about a year ago. I still can't believe how terrific the job they did was. For just over a thousand bucks...they fixed two dents, repainted, and it looks brand new. We went to so many places looking for a shop that would do it for around a thousand. Nobody could. Not even close. They also did it in such a timely manner. At first, I was worried the woman working the desk would be mean. She had that look. She was all business, and was terrific at looking at the dents, and really trying to figure out if they could do this for us. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine that's a mechanic for a local used car place on the same street. He was right. Thanks Shagi !!!!! If we ever need body repairs, we won't hesitate to go here. read more

A few years back my chiropractor recommended that I go see Bob at Car Coat in Escondido to repair my MB. I was backing down my driveway and ran into a mature oleander bush that tore off my power mirror and heavily scratched a 10 ft section. Bob's guys did a great job repairing it. Since I owned a paint and body shop decades ago I know quality work and that's what I got. I was so impressed that I had Car Coat do the paint & body on a 1966 Ford Ranchero I was restoring. This thing was a mess with extensive body damage and rust all along the lower section. How good did it come out? I get complements on it almost every time I put it on the road! Bob and his guys do really great work at reasonable rates. By the way, I'm a guy that never does reviews... so this should mean something. read more

Wow. I was referred to Bob Castaing at Car Coat by a trusted mechanic (Knights Automotive) to repair back end and bumper damage caused by a hit and run parking lot accident. He ordered the new bumper as I waited to drop off the car, quoted an exceptionally reasonable price and had it ready on the promised day. The work was quick, fair, and high quality. I don't usually post reviews on Yelp but, in this case, I had to promote this business with the praise it deserves. Thank you Bob! read more

Bob and his team at Car Coat went above and beyond in repairing my SUV. The pricing is very competitive and the work was done well. Someone did a hit and run on my parked car. It's not worth it to go through through insurance and have my rates go up and it would put a ding on carfax. Especially since it's not too bad and my deductible costs more. I'm better off paying out of pocket unfortunately. Kara helped me. She hit the bumper back into place and gave me an estimate for the paint. I'm going to have to come back to get the work completed but at least I know my bumper isn't gonna fall off on me while I'm driving to AZ tonight. I was also in and out. Wasnt there long at all. My 87 300ZX has been off the road since a 2007 collision. It spent a long time at a local body shop that is no longer in business, and the work wasn't finished. And what was done was not done right. So between the body damage not being done it also sat out in the southern cal sun for over 6 years. I took it to a couple of shops to fix and finish but way to much money. The folks over at Fast Service Center sent me to Bob at Car Coat. The price was right and the finished product was more then I imagined. read more

This is a terrific business. We have used them for several car mishap repairs, and have always been pleased with both price and workmanship, but this topped the cake. I had hit the driver side mirror on my new Lexus rx350. Took it to San Diego Lexus. They barely looked at it and tried to rush me into a loaner and leaving the car. Estimate was north of 1K to fix. Instead. We took the car to Car Coat. They took a few screws out, popped it back in place and it was done in 5 minutes. No charge. Amazing!! read more

There's nothing a woman hates more than going to a mechanic or auto body repair place. I had two dents on the side of my Mustang, and was dreading the whole experience of getting it repaired. I told my boyfriend that when it first happened, I was quoted something around $5,000. So, I waited months and months, figuring I'd never worry about getting it repaired. We went to a number of auto body repair shops, telling them we wanted it fixed for below $1,500, even if it wasn't fixed perfect. Some of them gave us quotes of a few thousand dollars, telling us that was the lowest they could go. The cheapest place was near Car Coat, but we weren't show how much we trusted them. When I talked to a mechanic friend that worked nearby, he said they bring all their cars to Car Coat and they're always happy with the work they do. We figured we'd get a quote, and...they were just a tad cheaper. So we went with Car Coat. The woman working the desk was great. She was friendly, came out and looked at the car, asked a few pertinent questions, and gave us a quote. We expressed concern for having the car fixed in 3 days, and she crunched some numbers, and said she could. We brought it in...expecting it to take a lot longer, and expecting them to say there would be more charges they didn't anticipate. Nope. It was finished early in the day. The price stayed the same. We talked to the owner, who was also friendly, but more important -- the dang thing looked brand new!!! We were expecting to see some discoloration on the paint, as we didn't want the whole panel removed and repaired like brand new. I swear, the experience we had went so smoothly...it almost makes me look forward to my next car accident! Great job from these guys. We can't recommend them enough. read more

Within a couple weeks of each other, my daughter got rear ended in her Mini Cooper, as well as, I damaged the front end of our BMW 550. I am always skeptical about anyone in the car related industry thinking I am always going to be ripped off. A friend referred me to Car Coat and I had the best experience! I had already gotten 3 quotes for the mini cooper so I had checked around. Not only was Car Coat the best quote but I also felt the most comfortable there. After discussing the damage with the owner, Bob Castaing, I felt like he did have my best interest at heart and he was trustworthy. He also replaced the front bumper of my BMW and all the damage to the paint around it that I had caused. My husband and I were both very happy with the work he did and we will definitely go to him again if it is ever needed. I have already referred him to 2 other people and will continue too! read more
