The Car Salon restored my 1990 Mazda Miata! In July 1989 I purchased a Mazda Miata - on of the first 2 dozen to enter Manitoba. On the day I picked it up it had 7 km on the odometer. In 1989 the car was a sensation - singlehandedly reviving the market for convertibles. Fast forward 30 years and my mechanic was telling me that if the rust damage was not repaired it would no longer be possible to put the car on the hoist and service it. The perforations were also going to prevent it from passing a safety inspection so a sale was not possible. It was either do significant repairs or have it towed away by the Kidney Foundation for scrap. But how could I do that? The Miata is one of the greatest driving experiences you could ever have. With a weight under 2000 lb it handles like no other car on the road. Its rack and pinion steering is so precise you can change lanes and make turns almost by thought alone. And its gear shift has been praised as one of the best shifters ever. And with top down you are officially a sun god. No towing; just fixing please! I searched Winnipeg and its environs in vain. No autobody or restoration shop was willing to undertake the repairs. I tried Minneapolis but again notta. I contacted every restoration place I could find in Toronto and finally found one that could do the repairs. But they wouldn't! My car didn't meet their criteria: It wasn't more than 50 years old; and it wasn't British! Then I found The Car Salon in Calgary. Courtney - my first point of contact - said they could do the work... please send pictures. I sent pictures. They sent a quote. A quote generated from some automobile estimating software. Finally, it looked like I had found the real deal. In January 2023, with the mercury down to -35 C I drove the Miata out to Calgary and Tony Scott gave me a royal of The Car Salon - a multi-faceted shop that can take care of most anything car related. I was convinced. I showed Tony the original Mazda brochure I had saved from 1989. I pointed to its lush marketing photos and said "I just want it to look as close to the way it was originally introduced as possible". When Tony's crew began the tear down I could see from the resulting pictures that the damage was more formidable then was obvious from the surface. But I still wanted to go ahead. And thanks to Mazda's MX5 30'th Anniversary Parts Program a lot of parts were now still available. But a few were not. Tony scoured auto wreckers all over Alberta, and then North America including Miata specialist wreckers as far away as Florida (who knew that was thing!). And when even that could not turn up what was required, Sean fabricated the parts himself. The pictures I received of the repaired and painted frame were nothing short of staggering. What a craftsman! Likewise when a plastic part in one exterior mirror disintegrated and could not be sourced Sean made his own mold and fabricated that. Finally, on November 17'th, after nearly 10 months, I flew back out to Calgary and made my way back to The Car Salon. When they pulled my Miata out of the service bay I could not believe my eyes. It was now restored, painted and detailed with evident loving care. It looked quite as perfect as the day I first picked it up in July 1989. After 34 years and doing most of the servicing myself, I knew every nut and bolt of this vehicle and wherever I looked everything was pristine. The repairs of the rusted frame were astounding. The paint job and the detailing of the interior were fantastic. Even the two rusty toe hooks, which are barely visible in the Miata's maw and which most people would never notice, were like new! From stem to stern it was magnificent! I was glad when Sean invited me to sit down in the drivers seat so he could adjust the sideview mirrors for me - at this point my legs were so wobbly I cold barely stand up. Thank you to Tony Scott, Courtney, Sean and the entire team at The Car Salon by keeping my Miata dream alive. I am so impressed with the way you handled this difficult and demanding job. It was clear to me that my Miata could not have received better attention than if was your own vehicle. You guys are amazing! read more

THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!! DOWNRIGHT THIEVES USING A COMPANY TO RIP PEOPLE OFF!!!! I So, I bought and paid $2400 for my winter tires and installation. Went in at the end of the day to pick up my vehicle and there was only one guy working. I had already put $1000 down on the tires as a deposit, so I paid the extra $1400 & $300 plus tax for storage. PLUS I left a tip PLUS I bought the guys a case of beer!! The guy behind the counter said the till was closed and I watched him put my cash into an envelope. A bit later, I had to take a tire off to deal with a brake issue and realized that they had switched out my stainless steels lugnuts for cheap ones. I went in to talk about this and they denied of course. I said I wanted to take my summer tires (36" Toyo Open Country, purchased 3 months earlier at $620/each) & they said they couldn't find them. Long story short, They screwed me around for months with the final outcome being that they stole my tires and lugnuts! Approx $2800 value. Absolute CROOKS!!!! read more

Perry and his crew are unbelievable. After driving through tac oil on a paving site, I took my 2007 PT Cruiser convertible to the Car Salon to have the oil removed and to have the undercarriage and lower panels inspected for rust. Perry did a meticulous job in removing every bit of the oil, taking me on a guided tour of the undercarriage of the car and having the car, including the undercarriage, washed. These folks set the standard in service, customer service (you won't find a friendlier, more helpful bunch) and pricing. When I left the Car Salon the Cruiser looked brand new! I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I bought my dream car paying premium price for it , last owner have a decoration shark fin on the roof which I don't like, I went to the shop for a undercoat, their staff Fitch said they can do it no problem, the fin is off, but my car has been damage, they said that dents was there before, but I am 100% sure they weren't there, the shop quote me $700 to fix the dents that they created, how lovely business model. very disappointed, I will definitely spread my story as much as possible to avoid anyone to hand out their keys read more

Absolutely atrocious customer relations. I was bought a car starter for Christmas, and it was installed (and paid for) in January. I was impressed with the service, and happy with the product. Fast forward to yesterday, at my place of work, a man, claiming he was a collector (but couldn't produce a business card because he "left them at home"), accused me of fraud, and told me I was going to be served papers as I stole a car starter because someone had called and revoked the payment. He also claimed that her was "recording the conversation". I was obviously, super confused, upset and embarrassed as this was in my place of work, and I had done no such thing. He demanded that I pay immediately by writing my credit card number down on a piece of paper. He was asked to leave, he wouldn't, so I had the receptionist call a manager to help as I was feeling extremely uncomfortable at this time. This man was very aggressive in in mannerisms, and I still had no idea what was going on. I then called The Car Salon, and was transferred to Natalie, and explained that they had been trying to get a hold of me for 10 days by phone. Like most people, I don't answer unknown calls, and obviously wasn't expecting a call from them - why would I? My voicemail was also full, which I was unaware of, however storming into someone's place of work and accusing them of fraud is probably not the most appropriate "next step" in rectifying the situation. It turns out, that the card used to make the payment was compromised, and the retraction of the funds was a bank mistake. I called the individual who purchased the starter for me, and he went over an paid right away, as it was a mistake that was easily rectified. He was met with apologies when he showed up. I called, as it was my workplace that was disrupted and I was extremely upset as to how it was handled and was met with more blame and no apology. I am still horrified that the situation was handled in this way. They are many other shops in the city, and I am sure their customer service trumps that of the Car Salon. I recommend using anyone else. read more

Their web site says they are open until 1pm today,Saturday Sept 5th. I called and got a machine,figured they were too busy to answer the phone,the recorded message said nothing about being closed. I drove in from Airdrie at 11am and met two men working on the store front. They said they had closed for the day and I could come back on Tuesday. Not a good first impression. As a company, we have used The Car Salon for more than 15 years! Warren is great to deal with, and the rest of his team is just like an old school shop. They know all the inns and outs of vehicles, all makes and models. I have brought my Infiniti here, as well as my Chevy SS. Twice they have fixed up a slow leak (even on the sidewall) last minute. Even checked my engine code and went through some issues my truck was having- Free of charge. Not only are they good at what they do, they are great to deal with. Very friendly and patient! Awesome service and attention to detail. Brought my brand new mini in to get 3M wrapped, tinted windows, paint protection and a custom underglow light kit. They went above and beyond to ensure it was done to perfection! They also are so creative and came up with a way of stenciling under the wrap for an extra touch of Sass. I had my tint done here and it was the worst tint job. Every window is noticeably flawed. I had left my debit card in my car on accident, and when I finally got to pick up my car (which they had only started to tint after the time when I was to pick it up, making me wait 4 hours) I went out to my car where they were doing the tinting to get my card, and saw the razor blades they were using laying out on my leather seats. They not only did not put any seat rests back on, leaving my car a mess, but they also left a razor blade on my back seat which I found after I was home. The guys at the service desk were very nice and helpful when I was there, but when I called to book it in to get a couple windows fixed, they were not nice at all. I have told as many people as possible to stay away from there! I have to get my tint redone, and its going to be less pain to just pay to get a decent place to take it off and re-do it than to have to go back to this place to honour their "warantee". read more

RUN AWAY from this place! You vehicle should never be sent to Car Salon! I repeat: never! Very dis-organized, they do not take care of you vehicle. My family's car got window tinted recently, bubbles and muddy marks on the inside of windows, footprints with dirt on the back seats. I had to clean the window and seats, but bubbles are still under the tint film, it has been two weeks now. I called them and was advised that ''Bubbles will be gone eventually''. I wonder how long would that take??? I had the other cars done at different places, the bubbles were gone like half of a day. Also, keep in mind that parking lot is a mess. Your car may get smashed, broke-in or any other type vandalized with big chance!! Car Salon stated that parking lot is NOT their property even tho their stuff will park your car there once the work is done. ( my baby car got a huge dent from likely a truck or van ramed into. It was parked the first spot right in front of their office, in the daylight - 1 to 2pm) Car Salon told me that happens often there....omg... they should have let me know when I dropped the car then! Having said, if you want your car getting returned without damage, you'd better run fast to pick your car once they call you the work is done, because they told me that anything could happen between the work is done and the time you pick it up ( we are talking about drop off and pickup in the same day here, just to be clear); and they are not liable / responsible for any damage or incident. In my case, the guy from Car Salon quoted me $800 bucks to fix the dent, but he could cut me a deal for $600. omg again....would you send your baby car to someone to damage and repair it right after for a discounted rate! very 'funny', 'good' deal. eh?! read more

Just had 3m paint protection put on my car and wow looks great and an hardly even tell its on.

I have had thousands of dollars done with my trucks with them. alarm systems, tinting, pin striping. bush guards hid lights twice. on 4 of my vehicles. If i had any problems with the product Gary the owner would have it fixed with no cost at all. had old hid lights placed in my ford 150 and after years they wore out. had updated hid kit placed in last year and they worked great till a couple of weeks ago when had problems with one bulb on drivers side. took it to them to see if they could fix the problem with the bulb or the ballasts. a young guy that works on the lights told me i needed one bulb and would cost me 169.00 dollars plus gst. i told him that was outrageous for one bulb and labor. my warranty had run out 1 month earlier. i woldnt have minded paying what the cost for them what they pay.. this is what i was told when i first called. but no he told me cant fix it for cost. so thats it, ill never use them again. after all my friends i have told to go there and all the work they have got done to. I wish Gary the owner was there. never had a problem with the service when he was there. no i would not recommend dealing with them unless you deal with gary himself. i went eleswhere and paid 45.00 dollars for 2 hid bulbs and put them in myself in about halfhour. unreal. no happy with the service at alllllllll. read more
