Wouldn't let me finish describing what I was wanting to do in regards to a repair and new installation. He told me he was down 2 people and his lead time was 4 weeks before he could look at anything. He complained getting parts was slow. This was after he happily finished talking to a customer for 15 minutes who obviously just spent a lot money. KNOWLEDGEABLE, ATTENTIVE, PROMPT, and WELL-PRICED. I shopped around at several places in the area to find a good team to replace my factory car system with some good, but not drastic audio upgrades. The first place quoted me $4100 out the door. Car Sounds was the second place. The third and fourth were both large, national chains, the fifth was another place which didn't seem to know which way was up. I have now used them for several vehicles, however particularly outstanding was the work they did on my 1964 Lincoln continental. They were able to fabricate a home for a new touchscreen stereo that is completely hidden from sight if desired, as well as taking the time and effort to meticulously match housings for speakers at the kicks panels using vinyl paint. After calling Car Toys and listening to them try to upsell me and overprice everything I was frustrated and started googling reviews of different car audio places near me. I called Car Sounds because they had the best reviews. John gave me a fair price with better equipment so I had a new amp and subwoofer installed in my 4runner. At first I noticed some airnoise and sound vibrating off the inside plastic stock housing after the install so I took it back and John and his crew made it right. I plan to return and have some more work done. From now on Car Sounds will do all of my audio work- these guys really know their stuff which is hard to find nowadays. I highly recommend Car Sounds to anyone in need of upgrading their current car stereo. I've taken my past two vehicles there after being unhappy with their initial audio quality. The guys at Car Sounds replaced my factory speakers with much better-sounding Rockford Fosgate and JL Audios, in those two vehicles. Most recently, they even replaced my blown factory tweeters and tuned-up my existing amplifier. Now my vehicle sounds better than new and is ready for upgrades. These guys know what they're doing and do it at a fair price. They also went above and beyond for me by customizing access to my amplifier located behind my truck's back seat. Car Sounds did a great job installing tv's in my SUV. I went in on a Monday and needed the work done no later than Friday. Even though they had to order and have the tv's shipped from out of state they still were able to get the work done prior to my trip. I would not recommend this business. My son took his Alpine Amplifier in for repair and was told that they could send it in for him to Alpine and that Alpine charged $120.00 for the last two amplifiers they sent into them, but that it could cost less. We were only given a business card with the serial number of his amp on the back as a receipt for dropping it off to him....our first bad feeling. When the amp came back, my son went alone to pick it up and have it put back into his car. We had agreed to a charge of $20.00 for the install. He then was told that it was going to be $140.00 for the repair, because it was an extra $20.00 due to the fact that Alpine had to replace a component or something to that effect. My son asked for the Alpine paperwork, and they apparently had thrown it away or could not locate it. They said they would request another copy from Alpine and never did. My husband called, and still no follow-through. After calling Alpine directly, they could not advise what Alpine charged since it was sent in under Car Sounds Account and not directly by us, but they indicated in so many words that the charges of $140.00 were considered to be steep. We have notified Alpine and the Audio/Video Company that represents them. We have learned a lesson from this, but we would have expected John at Auto Sounds to be up front with his charges and advise us what Alpine charged for the repair, and then what their mark-up for shipping the amp to them was. This did not happen. In our estimation, very poor business dealings with this company and we will never deal with them again. I hope this review helps others to not go through what we went through. If there was an option to give them no stars versus one I would right now! read more
