Chose the Peoria Car-X for the ratings on Google and my friend's recommendation. I came in first to price tires and see if they could get the Yokohama tires. Very quickly and professionally he checked two different sites and could get the tires I requested. He printed out pricing without trying to sell me another brand or pressure me. I did ask him what he recommended and he gave me several options and printed pricing again without any pressure. I told him I wanted to do more research and would contact him again. I actually decided to go with one of his recommendations because the tires were also on sale. It was determined after the complimentary alignment check that I would also need an alignment. This didn't surprise me because my tires were worn unevenly (after only 20,000 mi) After the tires were put on and during the alignment the technician (Chris) told me the tow bolts in the rear needed to be replaced. Those would need to be ordered. I asked if I could just find them at dealers and bring them back in. (Quicker) Long story short I got the bolts and they fit me into their schedule the next day. On my last tire purchase at a different store, different city, the technician told me he got the alignment close but not exact and to go to the dealer. He never mentioned a bolt problem. I did go to a dealer but obviously it still didn't get right because the bolts needed to be replaced first. I'm so appreciative that Chris patiently took the time to explain to me why and what needed to be done and his work ethic on my car. If they had just gotten the alignment 'close enough' I would wear through tires quickly again. I will gladly recommend and do future business at the Peoria Car-X. read more

I went in and had a new tire installed. Tire was 160.00 and install and balance was 40.00+. Couldn't give me a receipt because out of paper? About 6-8 weeks later I personally changed the oil and filter and rotated the tires. The tire they installed took me about 2 hours to remove. I have always torqued the studs at 105 PSI and never had a problem but this tire I needed a 24 inch long 1/2 inch drive to to loosen all the lugs except one- had to use wrench and cheater to get the nut removed. Found out the lug was cross threaded and have to get new lug stud and lug bolt intalled. Guess who isn't going to do this job or only future work for me. Now it makes me wonder if the printer was out of paper!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Glad they fixed my car and were able to get in quickly but not happy with the attitudes I dealt with while I was there. They are quick and reliable. But use reliable towing not the towing company they recommend because the towing company they recommend is more expensive then the one they tell you to use, I won't be coming back here due to the attitudes but if you need something done fast, they're your guys read more

I got my fuel pump replaced, i wasn't happy with the communication.I didn't know that they had to dump all my gas out.They didn't tell me, I ran out of gas two days later. The gas hand and the digital gas gauge no longer works..... I wasn't very happy with the service or the communication at all.I won't be going back.The only reason I went there in the 1st place is because they're the closest shop on my warranty list. read more

My car was acting up and I went to Auto Zone to have it scanned. The auto zone employee recommended that I go to Car X on university and he goes to them personally. I am SO happy that I went! DO NOT GO HERE! Own 3 cars and have been loyal customers for 5+ years. Old manager left over a year ago and these guys have been dropping the ball since. Changed my brake fluid in February, didn't bleed the brakes and these was air in my line. Less than 2 months later have to take it somewhere else and pay to get it done again. I had a scheduled appointment for the road ready package. When I walked in, was greeted by a man named Brian who immediately said "well I'm not making it to the bank today" . He asked what I wanted done on the vehicle I said the road ready package and he said that's a 2 and half hour service, we don't have time for that. Brian went and asked the mechanic who stated it would be done in hour and half then Brian took out his wallet, opened it and said 5$ isn't going to get me far. Service was completed. Next morning my truck is running funny. I call car x explain my horrible experience yesterday and not one sorry for the way I was treated but you can bring your car back in. Great service! I went in the morning we were suppose to leave for vacation (my bad for waiting until the last minute) to get new brake pads and rotors. Jim at the front desk was so kind and said he would try very hard to get it done by noon. An hour later at 1030 he called and said it was done!! He gave me an awesome discount and we left for vacation and never had trouble with the brakes. I will be returning here for all brake and tire services! read more

Scammers!! Stay away!!! Went for an oil change for Honda Civic 2014. Takes 0W 20. which is full synthetic. Turns out they put in synthetic blend instead of full synthetic( cutting cost probably) ( They did print 0W-20 on the receipt even though verbally informing me that we put in synthetic blend and not full synthetic to cover themselves ) Servicing done at 46079 but printed 45079 on the receipt. No battery check, or lubing or tire rotation done. You can inform the customer what all is included in the service and price of the service and he can choose to accept or decline!! Price could be from $38 to $70 as the other front desk guy didn't know whats the cost of synthetic blend or full synthetic and that depends on what they can gouge from the customer. Ellen dikerton the store manager needs lesson in customer care starting from writing the correct name of the customer. It's very tough to believe that they indeed changed the oil filter since they couldn't show me the discarded one. To the customers: don't get your vehicles serviced here, if Walmart auto center offers same kind of service at less price and are probably more trustful. I was told the first name of the regional manager as Bob. I was categorically told by Ellen that the last name of the regional manager won't be given! Really? When something goes wrong with you car it stresses you out. Trying to find someone who is knowledgeable and trustworthy is hard. I've had many poor experiences dealing with different mechanics until I tried Car X. I took my car in for an air conditioning charge, left without a radiator cap= blown engine. Was told originally that's how it was brought in. After talking with them, they replaced my engine with a "new engine". Less than 2,000miles later and that engine went out. I was then was offered less than a 1/4th of the value of the car. I started off with just calling them. I asked how much was an installment for an A/C compressor. The guy on the phone told me it was $300 with labor, then $360 and BC they had to prime it with refrigerant. The guy didn't include tax and I didn't ask for it because I kinda figured it would've been 380 or something. Got to the store and they literally made a reschedule twice in a row for something they kept telling me they'd have done by the end of the day. Then on the 3rd day when I was supposed to pick it up it was originally supposed to be at 9:30am. I called at 9:39 to check on things, the guy tells me it'll be done at noon. Check again at 11:53, now I have to wait until 2:30 for them to have it done. My fiance comes in to pick it up and they said they were missing a bolt, but couldn't find the key for my vehicle, and while telling her it needs that bolt, THEY'RE DRIVING IT INTO THE GARAGE. So then I go in and wait after she paid them and find out that a hole is suddenly letting grease out in my car, engine mount is gone, And there was a metal piece that came out when they lifted the car. And to top all this off the actual cost after all the "discounts" were applied still was 383 despite the fact that I was supposed to have $50 off BECAUSE it was still over 400 and the guy "didn't include labor," and labor costs over $100/HR. Peoria, you guys can trust these folks if you want to but I'm gonna just take my car and go elsewhere. read more

I am so impressed with this auto shop. The men are very professional and do a great job. They even tell you if your car does NOT need something! Some mechanics are condescending to women and try to take advantage of their limited car knowledge--not these guys. They performed great work on our car and are so much cheaper than car dealerships.
