I called the business and asked to speak to a manager, so I can let them know what's going on, so I can avoid leaving this review . However, they hung up on me the first time as soon as they heard that I have a complaint. The quality of food is getting worse as time goes by. Staff named Stacy overcharges; I thought it was a mistake, but seems to be an ongoing issue. She has a terrible attitude for no reason. The first time I thought it was just someone having a bad day. Absolutely amazing!! Caramel's came highly recommended from multiple friends. I called the same day as the party like any irresponsible adult would do. They had a choice of a few different cakes. We visited the bakery on a Sunday afternoon, at 12 pm. The pastries are good. However, the service was terrible. The attendant behind d the counter was very rude. She had an attitude when I asked for an extra plate. We ordered pastires and a sandwich, and she sent us over to the cake ordering section. When we approached the counter, the older lady asked what type of cake we wanted to order, and when we proceeded to say we wanted a croissant sandwich, the older lady also had an attitude. When I made a comment about the customer service , or lack thereof, the younger attendant rolled her eyes. We were given coffee without creamer and when I asked for creamer she seemed bothered. Very poor customer service. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what, but the girl who was there today did not want to answer our simple questions about their amazing looking pastries. We've never been before, so we asked about flavors and other basic inquires. But she was clearly not happy about it and was not very helpful at all. Years ago my mother visited shop for a cake for her child's birthday. Since then she kept coming back for more creative cakes based on the options, time and time again the tradition of coming here for a cake has been set on bringing back the same taste and quality experienced again and again. I never knew this was the place she bought the cakes from until she drove me there once in 2015. Based on my dessert tasting sprees in 2018 to now, I've concluded so far I haven't found a place that beats Caramel Pastries in terms of flavor, consistency, and nostalgia, and what I mean by nostalgia is that it brings back the taste of home and growth in a singular pastry. Other reasons I like this place is because it doesn't give me terrible heartburn or regrets after one bite or many bites after. Not too sweet, not too rich, it's just right to me. At the current, I occasionally come here for a bite to eat, and a pastry to try. Today, I came here to try the one thing I have yet to try from the other times: the swan cream puff. We have been going to Caramel Pastries for over ten years. We tried the cakes at the original location and truly enjoyed the variety. The owner is a nice lady, so it all worked out great! Well that was until we were treated poorly when trying to order a cheesecake. After the customer service mishap, we stayed away for several years. Last year I ordered a cake from them and had no problems. I was happy to be going back. Fast forward to today's incident: I refuse to be a patron to a business where they disrespect women! I ordered the chocolate cake with raspberry top for my dad's birthday. The employee was very kind over the phone and assured me several times that I was getting the cake I wanted. (She even repeated my order to me, describing the cake that I wanted). Perfect! Thinking there would be no problems, I sent my mom & sister to pick up the cake. It was all paid for and all they had to do was pick it up. WRONG! When they arrived they saw the writing I requested on a completely different cake. My mother tried to explain the situation to the owner's son. Instead of apologizing and fixing the error, the guy got an attitude towards my mother and said SHE was wrong. It got to the point where my sister had to intervene and demand him to stop being aggressive towards my mother. After minutes of going back and forth, he finally took ownership of the error and gave them the cake we ordered. I am sad to say that, again, I will not be going back. Update: I have no idea why but my mother tried to order a cake from here (several years after our incident) and they refused to make it for her. When she asked why the girl said "because those are my orders". Wow!! Think twice before giving your hard earned money to these people. So sad. read more

I was excited to finally try the pastry shop on Lancaster blvd that everyone was always telling me about. I was surprised when I walked in to find a Panaderia (Mexican pastry shop). Somehow I was imagining more of a chocolate and caramel European shop. I am not the biggest fan of Mexican desserts such as flan or mousse cake. However, everything here was supposed to be good so I went ahead and ordered a chocolate mousse, cheesecake, walnut raspberry bar and an apricot danish. The Yelpers were right. Everything was fresh and tasty. My favorite was probably the cheesecake and the apricot danish. Although I enjoyed everything I won't be back soon because it is not my style of dessert. After having lunch at a nearby restaurant, I stopped by this establishment to see their offerings and decided to try one of their cheesecakes and a mocha cappuccino. The two stars this review earned is based on the cheesecake which was decent, nothing special. Unfortunately, the major issue that I encountered was regarding the service or lack there of. After taking a few sips of the mocha cappuccino, I realized that I didn't like it and would not be able to finish it, as it was entirely too sweet, in my opinion. I expressed this to the young lady and asked, if it would be possible to swap it out for a regular black coffee and she simply replied, "no." There was no empathy or interest regarding my complaint or dissatisfaction. I placed the full cup on the counter and walked out, extremely disappointed by her response and lack of care or concern. It is worth mentioning that there is a Starbucks a couple blocks down the street, that I could've gone to but I decided to support this small business instead. I will not be returning or recommending to anyone. Furthermore, it should've been a sign when I walked in and wasn't greeted, although there was only one customer and her child ahead of me. read more

It's unlike most pastry shops here, you get little more variety. Before I baked, I had no preference on taste on pastry cream and such, but since I started baking tons, I now have preference. Yes, I know I like to overload on salt but not on sugar and this place does a great job and keeping a balance My dad bought my mom an anniversary cake from here and she loved it. My mom is a picky lady so if she likes it, it has to be good. The one negative thing I have to say is that they have a limited selection sometimes. Even during the middle of the day their cases are less than half full so you don't have as many options. When we went one day another customer came in and asked if this is all they had and walked out. Oh well. But just be warned if you come in and there's not a grand selection.
