Our family has been getting conchitas from Pan de Vida for years for Christmas and other family gatherings -- they're always a hit. When my dad passed, we were planning his viewing and expected about 150 people. It's our tradition to serve bread and coffee, but this was my first time organizing something like this, and I was overwhelmed with so much to take care of. I called Pan de Vida, and the owner himself answered. He was so kind and understanding, and gladly took my large order over the phone. I asked if I could pay in advance so that a family member could just pick it up on the day of the viewing, and he made it so easy and stress-free. When the day came, the bread was fresh, beautiful, and absolutely delicious. Family and friends who came in from out of town were raving about it -- many went back for seconds and thirds! If you ever need to place a large order, I highly recommend calling ahead for pickup. The service is amazing, the process is smooth, and the bread... perfection. I've given Pan De Vida Bakery on 10th St West two chances, and unfortunately, both times have been disappointing. The bread was not fresh--dry and lacking flavor. I had hoped the first time was just a fluke, but the second visit was just as bad. On top of that, the customer service left a lot to be desired. The person behind the counter wasn't friendly or welcoming, which really added to the negative experience. With so many great bakeries around, I expected better. Not planning to return. read more

I came home to missing a bread, when I called the person working there said the phone wasn't working and that's why she was hanging up. She was kind enough to call me from her private cell phone . But she was rude, laughing at my situation . So even though the bread is great and the owner is amazing she was rude. When I told her you are being rude and disrespectful she said "I'm just happy" I got annoyed because when I was buying my bread she never smiled or made eye contact with me. This past Saturday I had my birthday celebration and ordered a cake from this location. A week prior I spoke to the man who is always there in the morning and told him what I wanted written on the cake. Not only did the cake not have anything written on it, the cake was not even what I ordered. It was supposed to be marble cake with strawberries in the center. The cake did have strawberries BUT it was not marble! Clearly you can see it in the picture that it was plain white cake and the description on the receipt of what the cake was supposed to be. This place was recommended. They said the best in the AV. If this is the best I'd hate to try the worst. I gave them two stars because the first time we tried it, the bread was half way decent but by no means amazing! The next three times (we give places a chance) The bread was dry and nasty! I believe having had the privilege to have been introduced to not just awesome baked goods from Mexico and El Salvador but from other places too and from so many bakeries and home made goods too, I am able to compare, and this is not up to parr to be able to be congratulated for great sweet bread or any bread. So we drive to the places (not in the AV) we are accustomed to. The AV needs to step it up. Wish I had the finance to be able to open up my own bakeries and restaurants of different foods etc and be able to have high quality products and high quality customer service. Just saying. Everyone is different and it all depends on how much variety and different qualities your palate has been introduced to that your opinion is based on. If you like it, you like it, but it's not for me nor my family and we do not recommend it. read more

Best Mexican sweet bread in the Antelope Valley. Friendly staff and fast service. They run out of bread fast and are constantly baking more batches throughout the day. On weekends, they sell tamales, Salvadoran type and fresh corn tamales. Only downside is they do not post prices and the receipt doesn't show the price of each piece. read more

Good Hispanic bread in Lancaster/Palmdale area. The previous time we went, the older woman was very nice this last time the younger woman was ehhh not too friendly but not rude either. The two times we have been there (around 4:00 or 5:00 pm) the bread has just come out from the oven. Their baby conchas are delicious and their pineapple flavor bread omg to die for (I forgot what it was called). They ask you if you want your bread in a paper bag or a box. They don't tell you though that if you ask for a box they will charge you 50 cents. Definitely a good bakery :) read more
