We drove up to Vernon to watch a Murder Mystery Dinner Show at this ranch. Since we were there…read moreearly and there was nothing to do, we decided to check out the farm animals they had. Much to our surprise, they didn't look anything like your average farm animal. Some chickens had plumes on the top of their head, making them look like they had a bad hair day; some had furry feet. The rams had four horns that looped around the side of their heads. They also had a dozen colorful birds. After a tour of the farm, we went back to the restaurant where the show was about to start. As the story went on, we were guided to different parts of the ranch. It wasn't a far walk, and the actors, though funny, were convincing. We headed back to the restaurant where we were seated with a few people we didn't know. Many people from Kelowna are friendly, so we didn't mind. Clues were passed around so we can guess who the murderer was, write it on a piece of paper and submit it for drawing. Before they revealed the murderer, we feasted on a buffet dinner, complete with an array of salads, veggie sides, prime rib, and desserts. When we were done, they revealed the murderer. The funniest part was reading what people have submitted for drawing. The first one who got it right got a CAD 50 gift card to the O'Keefe Ranch Gift Shop. You can't beat 50 bucks a person for both the show and dinner*! The show and dinner is only scheduled twice a year. Check their website calendar.

We expected them to be slow so we're shocked they were open so early for tastings...and it was at the end of the "season" (late September?) but as we drove in we saw a groundskeeper hustle over to the tasting room to serve us there. He was great. Didn't rush us at all. Told us many stories. It was an absolute win. Wines were nice. 100% recommend to anyone doing tours of that area. Not a destination on its own but awesome as part of a food/drink adventure.

Lorne has the gift of the gab and has managed to talk many, many, many touring musicians to stop by his place and do a show (between Calgary and Vancouver gigs.) Stop by Lorenzo's and enjoy the food, the drinks, the dance floor and the unique ambiance! (It used to be a bowling alley and Lorenzo's has the most unique salt and peppers I've ever seen.)

However, management in their infinite wisdom fired their red seal chef because if a tiff between, an ultra ego restaurant manager and the chef. Since then until the pandemic, the food is not as good, smaller portions and higher prices. If you want to work there, I highly recommend that you do not. Unless you like being bullied by co-workers, supervisors and management. If you like that, then you will love the gossip that goes on there. The management claims that they are against gossip, yet, management is the most prolific gossipers. If that suits you fine, know that if you are NOT a favourite of management, you can and will be fired for gossip. Matter if fact, they can and do fire people for little or no reason. They could have a hissy fit and someone is gone. They know that they can fire you, for any or no reason, provided that that they give you severance pay. And they exploit that. So if you like walking on egg shells, be gossiped about by management and or being bullied, then this is an amazing place to work. I myself would never step foot in this establishment again ever again. Go to Kamloops or Kelowna or Vernon instead.

I would be the first to admit to having a very difficult time not buying more than I did the last time I saw him, and the crafts he had on-hand. The pieces purchased have always held prominent display positions within my apartment-home. The several bowls (which I have displayed on shelving), and a large platter (placed on my dining room table), have brought me much personal pleasure, each and every time I look their way.
