When Carbon Health first opened, I was excited by the idea of an urgent care where you could actually make an appointment. It seemed like a great alternative to sitting in a waiting room for hours or trying to time your visit to Eisenhower Urgent Care during a slower period. Unfortunately, the experience has gone steadily downhill since my first visit. The bedside manner of many of the NPs and PAs is disappointing. You get about five minutes of their time, and it often feels like they aren't interested in truly listening to your concerns. Instead, they seem eager to fit you into a predetermined diagnosis. If you don't present with one specific symptom, they quickly dismiss the possibility of what you think might be wrong--even though people can experience the same illness in very different ways. The medical assistants haven't been much better in my experience. During my most recent visit, the MA smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and barely spoke to me. I'll never understand why some people choose careers that require working closely with patients when they seem to have little interest in interacting with people. Unfortunately, this hasn't been limited to just one office. The La Quinta location has been just as disappointing. Across both locations, the staff often come across as though they'd rather be anywhere else than at work. Trust me--we don't want to be there either. Patients aren't visiting urgent care for fun; we're there because we're sick, worried, or uncomfortable. The least we can expect is to be listened to and treated with a basic level of care and empathy. If you have a choice, I would recommend Eisenhower Urgent Care instead. In my experience, their staff takes the time to listen, treat patients with respect, and make sure concerns aren't simply brushed aside. read more

This place is bar none the worst "health care" facility in the entire Valley! They should be called a health un-care facility. Was referred by my workplace for a workplace laceration, and it was one error after the other with this place. They refuse to treat you without a number which you can't get unless they treat you!? The office staff is incredibly curt and unhelpful, the "nurse" is a clone of Nurse Ratchet with the bedside manner of AI. There was no empathy or care...it is easy to see by the litany of negative reviews! Do yourself a favor and just go to STAT Urgent Care or Eisenhower Urgent Care where they actually care! read more

This is my first and only negative review on yelp. I initially went to Carbon Health on 8/22 for a burn showing signs of infection, including increased redness, yellow discharge, pain, and nausea. The burn had poor healing, areas of reduced sensation, and apparent deeper tissue damage, raising concern that it may have been more severe than initially assessed. I have hEDS, MCAS, and other immune-related conditions and do not tolerate oral antibiotics well. On 8/22, the physician and I established a treatment plan for an antibiotic injection every 24 hours and a return the following day if the wound still appeared infected. I requested a wound culture because the injection did not cover MRSA. The wound had already been cleaned, and I was told this could affect the culture results. We agreed that if the culture was positive, a compounded antibiotic could be considered, although I explained that I can have multisystem immune reactions to medications. I was scheduled for a follow-up and encouraged to return. I expressed concern about the cost and was told by the nurse/assistant that they would keep calling if I did not return and that the infection could worsen because the injection needed to be given every 24 hours. The exact words on the care plan said "follow up: come back tomorrow for a recheck. If you continue injectable therapy, you discussed you will need injections daily." I returned on 8/23 as instructed because my bandage had new brown discharge that had not been present the previous day, there was little evidence of healing, and my pain was increasing. I also returned specifically because I had been told to return for another injection if the wound remained infected. Instead, the "follow-up" was treated as a new urgent-care visit with a different provider, resulting in another urgent-care bill. PA Juanita Moore entered and I attempted to explain the injury history and the treatment plan from the previous day, including that a frying pan had contacted my arm, the bandage tore the blister off, and signs of infection developed two days later. I explained my immune disorder and medication limitations. When I identified hEDS, she repeated the name incorrectly and appeared unfamiliar with its relevance to medication tolerance or healing. She repeatedly interrupted me. When I asked her to let me finish, she threatened to terminate the appointment and called in the assistant who had been present the previous day. Once the assistant arrived, I was able to explain the situation without the same interruptions. I asked whether I could record the conversation and was told it was being recorded but that I could not access it. I explained that the previous physician had obtained a culture and established a plan for another injection if the wound remained infected. PA Moore declined another culture and refused to administer the antibiotic injection I had returned for. Instead, she repeatedly questioned why I could not take an oral antibiotic since it is the most common despite my explanation that even compounded medications can cause multisystem immune reactions for me. I requested the injection because the wound appeared essentially the same as the previous day, when it had been considered infected and treated with antibiotics. PA Moore acknowledged that it looked "pretty much the same" as the previous day. Nevertheless, she refused the injection, citing concern about resistance and stating that it was not the standard or most common treatment. I explained that the injection was the treatment plan established with the previous physician because I cannot tolerate oral antibiotics. I also explained that a 7+ day course of MRSA oral antibiotics would expose me to the medication effects I was trying to avoid. She nevertheless stated that the decision was hers and that the wound looked fine. I pointed out that she had acknowledged the wound looked essentially unchanged, that I had been specifically instructed to return if it remained infected, and that I now had new brown, malodorous discharge. I then asked for the oral antibiotic instead, but that option was also refused. I left without antibiotic treatment despite new discharge, increasing pain, and little evidence of healing. I was not adequately assessed regarding my increasing pain, nausea, or other symptoms. I am requesting a thorough review of whether the care provided on 8/23 was appropriate given the infection concerns, new symptoms, the treatment plan established on 8/22, my inability to tolerate oral antibiotics, and the provider's acknowledgment that the wound appeared unchanged. I also request review of the records and recording associated with both encounters, including the basis for refusing the planned injection and the decision to treat the scheduled follow-up as a separate urgent-care visit. To this date, nobody will even reply about the wound culture or provide results. read more

I need stitches for a cut. I came here as it close and thought it would be better than a hospital emergency room. That was a mistake. The service was terrible. The staff unfriendly and impatient. One would think a company with "care" in the name would understand what care means. The medical were acceptable but not great. You may leave in worse condition that you arrived. If there is a zombie attack and this is the only place left, take the risk. Otherwise, head to a hospital or other urgent care. read more

I came in to have my foot looked at and after waiting a full hour for the clinician to come in, she hardly looked at my injury, and told me there was nothing she could do and to try a different clinic. I called ahead to confirm if they have an ultrasound should I need that service or if they would need to refer me somewhere else (for convenience sake) and the only response was "we can only guarantee an evaluation and not a service" which i clarified saying im not requesting an ultrasound i just dont want to be sent to another facility once im there (which has happened with other urgent cares). Terrible!!!!! 2/20/26 Called and gave my insurance name and asked to confirm they take my specific plan. They said they take my insurance, but they wouldn't check anything beyond that. I confirmed they took my main insurance carrier. When I arrived they asked for my name Only. She said, you are with desert oasis? I said yes, and she said we don't cover that. I asked why she couldn't have clarified that on the phone. She said you didn't say desert oasis. I asked if you could confirm my group, you said you could not, but you just confirmed it without me telling you. So I could pay out of plan or go somewhere else. although in pain, I chose somewhere else. Desert oasis immediate care was wonderful And fast! went in due to a shoulder injury and saw the tech for maybe two seconds who said I would need to see it orthopedist and get an x-ray. Their x-ray tech that day couldn't do shoulders so I had to reschedule. I have called and get immediately put on hold and then it just stays there for 30 minutes called back hold again nobody ever picks up so no way to make an appointment. I agree with the people the lady at the front desk could be the lease help for person in the world. read more

Ok, here it goes. On one hand for me it was a great experience because I think I'm having a reoccurrence of lymes symptoms of which I have been symptom free for over 10 years. All I want is the doxycycline antibiotic I took back then. When I went on the net this urgent said they treat lymes disease !What a shock to me because ten years ago nobody treated Lyme and every doctor avoided me. Well, times have changed. I made an appointment a few hours before and saw a person who was quite knowledgeable but I don't think she was a full doctor. Who cares, in about an hour I got my my antibiotics prescription! Hence the four stars. Here is why half my review deserves only two stars. Check in is easy but the girl at the desk is not to pleasant and this urgent care takes your credit card in case your insurance is denied. I never had that before because I have Medicare and Cigna. So you never know if they will charge your card or not in the future. She said 200 if you don't have insurance for a check up visit. It was't busy at all but a poor girl was waiting over 1 and l 1/2 hours with her hand smashed in at work. I guess they take workman's comp cases but they make them wait forever even when they are in pain. They said there is only one person always to see patients. So even though I had a 1:15 appointment it was still about an hour to see the technician. There was only about three people waiting the whole time. Also, this company has false advertising. The tec said they do not treat lymes and she didn't know why they say that on their website. They also say the treat babies and young kids, which they do not. Better call first if in doubt. Star -- Absolutely Disgusting Experience I've never experienced anything so heartless from a healthcare provider. We brought our two-year-old to Carbon Health in Palm Desert, and were told they couldn't see him because of an "issue with CIGNA's insurance." We immediately offered to pay out-of-pocket by credit card, which they accepted at first -- but then suddenly said their card reader was down. We even offered to pay cash on the spot, but were told they don't accept cash either. So, they refused to see a sick toddler simply because their payment system wasn't working. This is absolutely heartless, irresponsible, and unacceptable. To call themselves a healthcare provider while turning away a child over a technical or billing issue is disgusting. Carbon Health should be ashamed of the way they treat families seeking care. If this is how they operate, I can't imagine trusting them with anyone's health, let alone a child's. read more

I made an appointment for 1:00 on my phone, received text messages that my appointment was nearing, it is now 2:35 pm and I've had my blood pressure and temperature taken, and here I sit in a room but myself waiting for a PA. There is nothing urgent about this urgent care. Couldn't the appointment text alert that they're running 2 hours behind schedule? What is the point of an appointment, especially when you're not feeling well as it is. The Indio location did the same thing to my mother a week ago. Horrible business model. Let's be honest--no one goes to urgent care because they're having a great day. But that's not why I'm giving 1 . The problem is the front desk staff--the service and attitude toward EVERYONE is just terrible. No wonder this place only has 2.5 stars! One star is too much to give. This place is staffed with three females with an IQ of a total of 12 points. Not exactly what you want for a medical check. Celeste, the girl checking you in at the front desk will appear out of nowhere 20 minutes after your arrival to check you in. Once you are brought back into a room with an initial appointment, You will wait an additional hour to an hour and a half before ever again being seen by one of these three staff members, what a great place for an urgent care. There was nothing urgent about this place. The blonde doctor was about ditzy as they come, made me sad to be a female. Pathetic and embarrassing. When I showed up was told different story about my insurance, they wound bill for actual consult, but anything beyond, including labs,or any testing, (which I knew I needed) not covered. Carbon Health in Palm Desert is my go to urgent care. I book an appointment on their app, although they also take walk ins, and typically am in and out quickly. Today I had an eye infection and was in/out in 20 minutes. I have gone for back injury and a cat bite (my fault!), and it's always an easy, pleasant experience. Many months after my visit, Carbon Health billing fraudulently charged my credit card which they had kept on file. I did not authorize this charge. This has been a nightmare trying to straighten it out. My insurance company says they're paying the claim after corrections were made but Carbon will not refund my payment, which is substantial. My 9 year old granddaughter was very sick, after getting a consent letter from my very sick daughter and everything in order, we waited for over 2 1/2 hours. My poor granddaughter was being very patient and I tried doing the same till I couldn't anymore. I got up and asked if I could be told how much longer and of course she couldn't say. So I asked how many people were ahead of us, she said 2 people. I asked for a refund of the co-pay and without hesitation she returned it to me and we were out. Honestly I don't think I expect too much but there was never an interaction or a look to my granddaughter not even a goodbye or I'm sorry, nothing. I couldn't help but notice there were a few people who arrived after us that were called in and even if they had an appointment it just didn't make anything right when you have an uncomfortable sick child. I went online and noticed there was an appointment available for 20 minutes after we left. The receptionist could have said something about that but she didn't. I got the sense that this is a very corporate run facility and people aren't allowed to think outside the box. When dealing with sick people this is not a good thing. The front office was very kind and helped me get an appointment the same day for a bad eye infection. The nurse was very kind, helpful and very caring. this place doesn't know the meaning of URGENT care. I walked in there with my 8 month old baby who was clearly having an allergic reaction. (the rash was visible on her face) I specifically asked the receptionist if this facility was in fact an urgent care. she said yes then resumed on her phone call. a few min later she told me to take a seat. a good 5 or so min go by and she's still on the phone.... again I ask if this was really an urgent care. she said yes yet again and resumed her phone call. another 5 min goes by and another lady walks out and starts messing with papers or whatever. the receptionist asks her to help me. the woman then asks if I have an appt. I said no I'm here for urgent care. she asked if it was for my baby. yes again.... to which she says they don't see patients between 1130 and whatever time..... it was like 1135. cool.... so I waited like 15 min with my baby having an allergic reaction for them to tell me they can't see her. eff this place. read more

Unfortunately I did not read the many reviews warnings about this facility not prescribing what the patient was needing. I'm another of the many examples that the PA did not diagnose my illness. I pleaded to prescribe my antibiotics as I shared (and noted on my chart) that I'm susceptible to respiratory infections. I was running a fever, green mucus and coughing, wheezing, trouble breathing. Went to this urgent care 2 weeks ago to get covid test done and whole visit was just 10 mins. Receptionist took my insurance card and credit card and told me my insurance pays 90% of the bill and I only had to pay $30. Two weeks later I received an email telling me my insurance wouldn't pay the bill and I had to pay another $270 ( a total of $300) for that 10 min visit covid test!!!!!! Why didn't you guys verify my insurance and find out the co-pay at the first place and told me I only had to pay $30???!! If you guys told me my insurance doesn't cover anything then I wouldn't come to this urgent care at all. Don't ever come to this urgent care guy!!!! I'm super surprised by the negative reviews. We're here in Palm Springs visiting and just found out my gdaughter tested positive for Covid. Since I have a little cold and I had been near my gdaughter, my hubby and I de used to get tested for Covid. What a joke! Walgreens doesn't have the rapid tests. Everyone requires appt and you have to get them On Line. Wasn't able to make that work. We went to an urgent care and they said they couldn't test us. Not very friendly or helpful. But they did direct us to MedPost. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. We didn't have an appt but they worked us in. They were professional, helpful, courteous. We did have to wait for over an hour but we were just happy to be seen. The practioner was also very good and respectful. We highly recommend MedPost! They know what they're doing! I had ear pain that felt like someone was stabbing me with an ice pick. My insurance led me to MedPost. After reading the reviews I was a little nervous but went ahead and made my appointment. I LOVE that you can "virtually stand in line" or make appointments. That works SO well. I was greeted by the most friendly desk staff and didn't have to wait - the doctor was equally friendly and effective. Turned out I had swimmer's ear - they digitally sent my prescription to my pharmacy and I was done. I would definitely come back (but hope I don't need to)! read more

They state on their website that they treat abscesses, however that is not true. They do not treat all abscesses. So before you make an appointment and waste your time, call ahead to ensure you can get the actual medical care you need.
