Staff very unfriendly and rude over the phone. I ordered for 6 people and was informed that delivery would be in 45 - 50 minutes. When the delivery hadn't arrived 1hr 10 minutes later, I phone to enquire. I was told it would be another 15 - 20 minutes. When asked why the delay, I was told, "Well, you've ordered quite a lot of food, haven't you?" I would have thought any business would have been happy with foolish customers like me ordering more stuff than I need!!! But, not Cardamom Club.
Considering the overpriced menu, I expected them to at least inform me if the delivery was going to be delayed by almost half an hour. But... I got another curt response, "Well, we're very busy here." Perhaps she expected me to feel guilty about calling to check the delivery. I didn't, but I didn't want to argue.
Food arrived 1hr 30 minutes after placing the order. Small bone found in the Hyderabadi lamb; Chicken tikka masala and Muttar paneer masala tasted the same as it seemed to have been mixed in the same pre-prepared sauce. It is pretty obvious that meat and vegetables are pre-cooked and simply mixed with different sauces and heated up together as per individual order. They are not freshly cooked curries; don't be fooled by the glossy menu and exorbitant prices.
To cap it up, my 8 year old daughter (who is allergic to cashews and pistachios) reacted to the Chicken tikka masala as it had cashews. I had chosen that item for her as the menu didn't mention any nuts in it (some other items mentions 'cashews and almonds' or 'Contains nuts').
"24) CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA £8.35 (+)Tender chicken breast cooked in the tandoor, served in a rich masala sauce - THE most popular curry dish in the UK and our Cardamom Club favourite..."
I called the Club and spoke to another person than I had spoken to before to inform that my daughter hadn't expected nuts in the Chicken tikka masala. I was simply told, "I'm sorry; it is a printing mistake." There was neither any concern nor a seriousness in the tone to ensure it didn't happen again. Oh, but I forget they're very busy there! I hope the 'mistake' is corrected swiftly to avoid anyone with nut allergy suffering from anaphylactic shock. I wasn't expecting miracles, but probably a more sensible response like, "I'm so sorry to hear that. Is she ok? I'll make sure the details are updated and our customers are informed" or something similar in fewer words.
But, not from Cardamom Club.
My recommendation - AVOID. read more
