The service here was good but extremely slow on getting your food. The appetizers came out almost immediately, but the main dishes, very slow. It is very small place with tight table seating arrangements. The Thali dish was good and I do like their chicken tikki masala it came with. It's the best deal on the menu from price to quality to portion ratio.

Chicken Marsala, mattur paneer, chicken korma, pilau rice, garlic naan.

Quick Look: Food - excellent Service - excellent Ambiance - fine My wife and I were visiting London over Christmas. This restaurant was just a few steps from our hotel. Decided to try it on Christmas Eve. We went with our usuals (see pic) and we were not disappointed!! Everything tasted great, and the service was top-notch. Even more impressive was the next night, Christmas Day itself. We were anticipating only a few places open, and waits. But we went around the block and saw numerous lines that didn't seem to be moving. Finally, we stopped in a local chippy, got to the counter and stood there for five minutes waiting to order. Eye contact was made, but absolutely no other acknowledgment. We left, unhappy. We decided to stop by Mughals just to see what it would be like, even with a line. We were acknowledged within 2 minutes, seated in under 10, had wine at our table in 2 minutes more and were eating in another 10. Great job accommodating customers in a busy time!

Mughal, your food was tasty, the spices were well balanced and delicious. My problem and lack of a 5 start review is that you 100% disregarded my request on my take away order to make my meal "extra spicy". I absolutely may give you a 2nd chance, but why do you ignore what your customer's requests? And BTW, my non-spicy dinner was really good, but not prepared as requested.

London has amazing Indian food....This isn't it. OK, let me start with the good...You'll get seated promptly without a reservation. The service is friendly, and prompt. Unfortunately, the list of negatives is much longer. The condition of the restaurant is awful. [I always assume when the front of the house is in poor shape, the kitchen is worse.] The food was like a bad American version of Indian (sweet?). And they find ways to rack up the bill with unusual charges (charging for rice??! and a half a can of Coke for the price of a whole one?). My advice is to look for the many, many better Indian restaurants in London!

Delish! Chicken Chili Masala and Butter Chicken with rice and naans.

Wow, this place was fantastic! We started with a couple of papadams with the bowl of various relishes. Best papadams we've had in a long time. We then had the butter chicken and chicken chili masala. All of the curries are made with decent white meat so you don't have to worry about getting ropey chicken. The sauces were fantastic, and they actually went really well together. We also had the pilau rice and a couple of naans. The naans were hot, fresh, and very fluffy. The whole meal was delish and I would thoroughly recommend this place. I'd go back tomorrow, but Hubby says we have to try something different! D'oh!

    chicken tikka Karahi

I haven't been back since Covid hit but I was craving their Chicken Tikka Karahi. It was as good as I remember it. A perfect combination of spicy and sweet with the tang of the tikka chicken. Have it with the mushroom rice and a garlic nann that doesn't take prisoners. Just excellent. Doesn't look like much but consistently one of the better London Indian restaurants I've eaten at over the years.

Palak paneer, onion bhajis, plain naan

Service was fast and efficient. Food was more homestyle than restaurant style. Taste was decent but nothing to write home about.

We had a private downstairs room that felt very classic London--cozy, intimate, and with ceilings low enough that the "watch your step/head" warning is definitely real. The food was fantastic across the board, and the cocktail I ordered was just as good. What really stood out was the service. They handled a large group effortlessly and made the whole experience feel special. Pro tip: if you're deciding between lunch and dinner, the lunch feast is a much better value and still feels like the full Gymkhana experience. I'd absolutely come back.

For me, Gymkhana absolutely lived up to the hype. Although they offer a set lunch menu, I went à la carte to try exactly what I wanted: Chicken Butter Masala, an Indian Onion & Green Chilli Salad, and Garlic Naan (which I appreciated they offer in single pieces). For drinks, I started with their signature Masala Margarita, paired the meal with a Salty Masala Lassi, and finished with a Masala Chai. It was more food than I usually eat, but it was too good not to finish. Every dish was outstanding--bold, layered flavors with distinct character. It really highlighted how exceptional Indian cuisine can be. The drinks had creative twists and complemented the food beautifully. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling formal or rushed. I could tell the staff would gladly accommodate special requests if needed. It was all very deserving of its two Michelin stars. Total bill: GBP 94 including drinks, service, etc. One tip for first-time visitors: go easy on the rice and bread. The other dishes are far too good to fill up on carbs.

We got the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan (nothing to write home about here). We also got the Samosa chaat as an appetizer, which me and my sister both enjoyed. I also decided to get the chicken ruby curry, which seemed to be very popular across all the review platforms. It was.... OK. lol. Overall, none of the food here is bad. It's just I think this establishment gets so much hype for what it is. This location is particularly historic as it was built on a trade spot between Indians and the British; the place maintains most of the architecture from more than 100 years ago. Service here is pretty good too. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get high table seatings.

One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. My dining companion ordered a margarita that came straight up with a smoky paprika, sort of rim. I ordered the Mojito. They make their own Mojito mix and it was exceptional. Just a little hint of mint, but the excellent drink. Our bartender did not steer us wrong. We sat outside and ordered the okra appetizer, tikka masala, lamb chops and naan. Our wait staff said we were ordering a very small amount of food. I thought it should be enough, as we had a large lunch. She was kind of insistent, but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. The fried okra was amazing. It was like french fries but with okra. There's just a hint of spice very very crunchy and delicious. The rest of our meal came. I really should have asked about the spice level, but I did not. The menu didn't say my dish was spicy, but it was far too spicy for me. Since our wait staff did not come back to check on us there was not much I could do. However, I did flagged down another waiter and asked for some raita. This helped but I don't like the burn so I was pretty much done eating at that point. My sister's lamb chops were very tasty but overcooked for my preference. But we weren't asked how she wanted her lamb chops so there you go. I bet this is a phenomenal restaurant if you like a high level of heat. And maybe on a night when they weren't so busy and the wait staff stretched so thin. I will say I thought the cocktails were exceptional. And our bartender was great. I would really give it a 2.5 but there are no half star so I'm rounding up

For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
